How did the Jets get into this but I guess you're right Sammy when you have nothing to push, I guess you just have to repeat the same old crap about the Jets. Well, what could I expect. Not much :rolleyes2:
Don't think you want to go there with your murderer of a linebacker or your woman abuser of a former running back, not to mention how they tried to push Goodell in giving Rice leniency. Great team you root for. Well, hopefully, they don't make the playoffs or get dispatched quickly.
Well you did get 1 thing right...great team!!! Now go back and rewatch your 69 championship, hey the 50th anniversary is coming up in a few years, maybe the NFL will release a box set of that season ...Sammy
Not that I want to get in the middle of this tit for tat discussion, but this post is dripping with irony; you're dumping on the fact that the Jets haven't won a Super Bowl in close to 50 years, yet the team they beat in the greatest upset in Super Bowl history.......................is...................wait for it..................the Baltimore Colts, ie, your team.
Sorry, but that's pretty comical.
Ok, back to the brawl you two.
To throw gas on any Baltimore Fire as I like to do (I still can't figure out why I live here, oh, that's right, it's the wife's fault), but the Ravens were a pick 6 from losing last night, so let's not get on any great team bandwith here, they Ain't. Neither are the Steelers this year, but at least I have a pleasing memory of an absolute 6 touchdown performance against the Ravens in recent history by Big Ben, yes, we royally whipped the Ravens. People here are still crying over that spilt milk. Yes, the Ravens got torched, but good and if I had smiled more the next day, I would have resembled Jack Nicholson when he played the role of Joker.
The AFC North in my opinion is not strong this year, it is mediocrity and parity.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I will anyway.
At the Chargers/Rams game in San Diego Sunday, there were thousands of Rams fans in the stands, all decked out in Los Angeles Rams throwback jerseys for the most part.
Come to find out, there is a "St. Louis" Rams fan club in California, comprised of Los Angeles Rams fans who are still loyal to "their" team.
Wouldn't be a bit surprised if there is a fan club in Cleveland made up of original Browns fans who root for the Baltimore Ravens and also a Indianapolis Colts fan club in Baltimore made up of Baltimore Colts fans.
So there you go, just like I said about how I'd feel if the Patriots moved......................[/QUOTE ]George, I don't know about other cities fans and their possible connections to their former teams, such as the Browns, Rams, and Cards, but I don't think Baltimore is the same. Irsay gutted the city when he sneaked the Colts out of town. There is a true, lasting resentment to Irsay and the Indy Colts. As far as Baltimore is concerned, the team history halted the night they left town. The resentment is so deep that even the Colt's biggest hero of all time, Johnny Unitas, disavowed any connection with the Colts team name and history once they went to Indy. Johnny U adopted the Ravens as his and Baltimore's football team and that was the end of it as far as he was concerned. He didn't want his name connected to the Indy Colts in any way, shape, or form, such was his loyalty to Baltimore and the Baltimore Colts. I am of the same mind and have no interest in the Indy Colts and resent the fact that Irsay took the team name and history with him. Ancient history now, but the scar remains and is still sensitive. -- Al
Interesting case, these teams. Long time NY teams, with rabid followings, both pull up stakes and move as far away as could be done, within the same time frame. I rather imagine there was a tremendous outrage and resentment exhibited towards the owners and that many fans swore off the teams for good. Yet, there are still many fans in NY that remember and still love these teams. I wonder if this loyalty is time sensitive to the current generation that may still remember them as the home team and whether this will disappear as the fans pass on. Still, it is remarkable that the fan base still exists in NY for these 2 teams. -- AlThe significant exceptions to Al's post would be the Dodgers and Giants. They still have a following in NY.

Al, agree 1000% with you on the older Baltimore Colt fan base, as we have discussed this issue a few times, to me it never stops bothering me no matter how many games/Championships the Ravens win there will always be a part of me that hurts for my beloved Colts, as things unfolded back then I was only 12-13 years old in the late 70's and didn't pay attention to the movement rumors even when it got out of control with Irsay I was like no way in hell would he move this team from Baltimore!!!!...ummmm wrong!!!! and it happened so fast it hurt and it's hard to describe, no time has healed that wound but once the move was done I was done with the Colts, just as Irsay packed them up so did I removed all posters/shirts etc..and never looked back upon that team now in Indy, I liked when Manning played there as I do with Luck and some other Colts but as far as the team? could care less, I do know when the Colts came to Baltimore for the 1st round of playoffs 2 years ago and we kicked thier arse I don't know what was better?? beating them or winning the Superbowl? toss up, both were great!! but like you said Al, still a very sensitive issue still to this very day...Sammy
Sammy, to this day, my younger brother and I still use Irsay as a form of curse word when we are together. Sort of an insider joke for old Colts fans. As silly as it sounds, Irsay's removal of the Colts from Baltimore tore a whole in the timeline of my life. Never have looked at sports the same or found them as big a part of my life as I did before that accursed night. Good thing I am not bitter about it.:rolleyes2:{eek3} -- AlAl, agree 1000% with you on the older Baltimore Colt fan base, as we have discussed this issue a few times, to me it never stops bothering me no matter how many games/Championships the Ravens win there will always be a part of me that hurts for my beloved Colts, as things unfolded back then I was only 12-13 years old in the late 70's and didn't pay attention to the movement rumors even when it got out of control with Irsay I was like no way in hell would he move this team from Baltimore!!!!...ummmm wrong!!!! and it happened so fast it hurt and it's hard to describe, no time has healed that wound but once the move was done I was done with the Colts, just as Irsay packed them up so did I removed all posters/shirts etc..and never looked back upon that team now in Indy, I liked when Manning played there as I do with Luck and some other Colts but as far as the team? could care less, I do know when the Colts came to Baltimore for the 1st round of playoffs 2 years ago and we kicked thier arse I don't know what was better?? beating them or winning the Superbowl? toss up, both were great!! but like you said Al, still a very sensitive issue still to this very day...Sammy
The NFL has announced no fine will be levied on the player for the cut block.
