Squeeze over George, I need to jump on that Pats bandwagon!! doubling down, all chips in, push everything to the middle got to go with the Patriots in the big show, sure as hell not breaking out any Brady jerseys but hoping they open a can of whip asss on the Seahawks as Seattle was handed the golden ticket to the show once the playoffs seedings were in, they take on the mighty Panthers (insert laugh track here) and get a cake walk, then get a Packers with a banged up Rodgers and some how in the name of all football Gods win that game{eek3}{eek3}{eek3} where as the Patriots earned a tough win against the Ravens then put a beat down on a good Colt team that had beaten Cinncy,Denver pretty easily in the early rounds.

Got to say this on Brady as much of a thorn he's been in the side of my Ravens the dude has twice taken 2 major chunks of his salary and put it towards the end of his contract so the team can sign free agents/keep players there just to win, if that doesn't say "team player' not sure what does? so let's go win one for the Pats/Brady then he can retire and ride off into the sunset with Geiselle and call it a day!! wishful thinking there:)...Sammy

Got some inside information for you Mike for leisure and entertainment purposes, ie, gambling.

Have a friend who's a physical therapist and he told me Sherman has a sprained elbow, which will not be 100% in 13 days.

Thomas has a dislocated shoulder, which also will not be 100% in 13 days; both will wear braces, Thomas a range of motion brace to prevent his shoulder from popping back out of place.

Both injuries will effect their ability to tackle and take hits, the more tackles they make and hits they take, the risk of reinjury will be high.

They both be shot up with as many pain killers as they can handle............

I hate to disagree with you George but when I watching the NFL Network earlier today with my son, they were talking about some of the things you said they weren't, although of course they were focusing on the onside kick. I think what may be bugging you is that they didn't spend much time on the Pats game but you can't blame them really. It was a blowout and there were a lot of things to talk about in the GB game.

Unfortunately, when you get to the SB and lose it, no one really remembers the losers, just the winners. You're almost better off losing in the conference title game. So while five trips to the SB is great, it's only the three wins that people remember. Both teams need this win: one to be called a dynasty and one to confirm that they can do it again.

Be thankful that the Pats aren't facing Eli.

As far as the balls, it's not as if it would have made a difference but it apparently makes it easier to throw the ball, from what some reporter wrote on the NFL website. At any rate, the NFL is investigating and the Pats promised to cooperate.

The NFL website reported that a MRI showed he had a sprained elbow and that he will wear something around the crook of his arm for protection.

Hate to disagree with you Brad, but conference championship losses are worse for me than Super Bowl losses, the 2008 Super Bowl loss aside as that one was for history and the 10-6 New York football Giants crapped all over that.

Championship games are gut wrenching; super bowl games are like game 7's, anything can happen, it's all good either way.

Like I said, only one team wins it all, so getting to 8 Super Bowls is pretty amazing.

The Seahawks are not a team I can muster any hatred for; their fans are annoying with the 12th man BS, but that aside, Carroll did a good job here as coach, his Rah Rah West Coast Joe High School style did not fly here because he followed Parcells, so he was set up to fail as a result. He was great with the Patriots defense, that is for sure.

Seems like most of the experts are already saying the Patriots are going to lose, they're calling the Seattle defense one of the best three in the Super Bowl era, with the 1986 Bears #1 and the 70's Steelers #2.

I think Seattle has a good defense for this era but a legendary defense, no way.

Their defense sets it up for the offense who then, with Lynch, usually finish it off. Contain him and you probably win.

I'm obviously not a Patriot fan but I hope they win for you :wink2: This might be the last best chance for awhile.

I think this game is gonna boil down to one thing...and that's the pass pressure on Brady...

if they can't hurry or sack Brady...he won't throw interceptions...he reads his receivers so fast that he will make the right throw if he has time...

even if New England's running game sputters to the talented run defense of Seattle...and with a fantastic effort...lets say they hold NE to 70-80 yards...I believe Brady with time to look down field...will make the plays...

I think it will be a good game...it might be close...but I don't think Seattle can blow NE out...conversely...I do think NE can blow Seattle out...and really wants to...

Green Bay's defense had Wilson on the move all day...
they had 5 sacks on him...
he never seemed to get settled until overtime...then he looked like Superman...^&grin...

I don't think Seattle got enough pressure on Rodgers...
they got one sack on him...
he actually had a pretty bad day...
19-34 for a paltry 174 yards...
all their scores were basically handed to them on turnovers (5)...
which when you think about it...
it's even more amazing that Seattle won with 5 turnovers...
that is an unreal stat!

I think the key to Seattle winning is bringing the pressure on Brady...
if they don't...
then I think he will have a strong day...

now...with all that said...this is exactly what I thought Peyton would do to Seattle last year...and we know how that turned out...43-8...hahaha...but remember this...poor Peyton was scrambling all day...that's the key I think...

George:

Even as a die-hard Niner fan it is tough for me to hate Seattle, except for Lynch who makes a mockery of interviews (plus he went to Cal). Pete Carroll is a decent guy and he does a ton of charitable work as does Russel Wilson. I might add that Belichick does too, except he gets no press for it as he does not seek out the accolades.

And as far as wins and loses in the Super Bowl? I remember all of the Niner appearances and the one that stands out is their lose to Baltimore (thanks Sammy, LOL). I still wish we were 5-0 in that regard.

Two great teams and coaches. It should be a pick 'em game that can go either way. Brady is the greatest QB in the game. He is a few seasons beyond his physical prime, but has the fire and experience. Seattle is going to have to rattle him to have a chance. I'm leaning toward Seattle for two reasons though. First, King Pete. No coach and I mean no coach in college and pro football has prepared his team better for big games in the last decade than Pete Carroll. They will be loose and ready to play on the big stage. Second, Seattle's defense might be able to disrupt Brady. If that happens, it is game over. This game is on Brady and his offensive line. NE will go to the short passing game to nullify the pressure like they did against the Ravens. If that works and they can run the ball a bit, it's going to be a long day for Seattle. But Pete is the best coach in all of football at putting together a defensive gameplan when he has the extra week. The results speak for themselves. Should be a good game.

Belichick knows a thing or two about defense; his game plan vs the Bills is in the HOF; what he does best is take away what your offense does best.

In this game, it will be to take away Lynch and force Wilson to beat you; if he does, so be it. Keep him in the pocket and see if he can beat you passing the ball.

Seattle's offense does not scare me, their defense, specifically their secondary does, but it's pretty banged up right now and two of the four will not be 100% for the game, they'll be all shot up with all sorts of drugs to dull the pain, that's for sure.

The Patriots have to be able to run the ball to set up the short passing game; if Lynch goes wild and the Patriots cannot run the ball, it's going to be a long day.

The less crotch grabs by Lynch, the better for the Patriots.

Deflate gate seems to be growing more with each passing hour!! now ESPN reports that a total of 12 footballs taking from the Patriots side were at least 2 lbs. of pressure under weight, got a feeling it will get worse as a witch hunt is in the making, only thing I saw deflated Sunday was the Colts offense!!:)...Sammy

p.s. save your ticket stub George, might be worth some coin in a few years!!

Sammy...

earlier in the week...an analyst said if there is an validity to the allegations...it could cost NE a draft pick...

I thought I read each team has 12 balls for offense and then another amount for kicking; so basically, if they grabbed all 12, the Patriots wouldn't have had any to use in the game.

Will have to check into this today.

Maybe they should do as Wilbon said and ban them from the Super Bowl and send the Colts instead.

This will be a story all of next week now, just awesome, talk about a distraction.

They bring this nonsense on themselves with the idiotic things they do.

food for thought...

I drive a 2012 Cadillac SRX Luxury model...

the recommended tire air pressure is 32 psi...

I have a display on my dash console that allows me to see the digital air pressure...

I keep them at 32 psi...last month or so...when it started getting cold...(20-30's temperature for a few days)...my air pressure display started announcing a warning for low pressure and the readout on all 4 of my tires went between 27-28 psi...that's a 15-20% drop in pressure...

I called my friend who runs the service department at the dealership...and he told me that extreme cold weather always lowers the tire pressure...I Googled it and the Internet confirmed what he said...

if these balls were filled and tested in a climate controlled room...and then taken outdoors in cold weather...I think the pressure is supposed to drop in them...

Professor Mike...^&grin

by the way...
the average yearly temperature in Galveston is 71.2...
the average yearly temperature in Boston is 51.4...
I don't know how you guys stand that cold weather...

Mike,
I've got the same thing going on with my tires this winter, pressure drops in cold weather.

That said; only 11 balls had low pressure AND, none of the Colts balls had that happen, they were all fine.

The more that comes out on this and the more I think about; sorry fellas, I'm done.

All the enjoyment of making the Super Bowl has been sucked out of me, this will be a bigger and bigger story leading up to the game, questions will be asked, things will keep coming out to make it worse.

The Patriots have and have had great teams with superior talent; there is no need to cheat, none at all.

I'm disgusted as a fan, I'm embarassed to be a fan of this team right now, I've had it.

Belichick is a great coach, but he's a cheater, that's all there is to it; the league is going to drop the hammer on him and they should. I hope they do a thorough invenstigation and if it comes out he told the ball boy to deflate some balls, then he should be suspended for a year.

One thing that doesn't fly with me is cheating.

No wonder why fans around the league hate the Patriots.

If they win the Super Bowl, it will be because they cheated according to fans around the league.

I called my friend who's hosting the party a week from Sunday and told him I'm probably not coming.

Totally and utterly disgusted.

My mistake, it was 11 out of 12 balls that were screened for being under weight, either or my opinion is that the Colts got thier butts handed to them by the Pats on both sides of the ball, but with every rule, regulation by the NFL anything that turns up as being seen as advantage to one team is so blown out of perportion by the next day becomes a 3 ring circus!! for instance Ravens lose a few weeks ago to the Pats in one of the best games played all year by both teams, but all you read on ESPN, NFL network etc..was Harbaugh complaining about about some substitions and was it legal?? yes, he did bring it up, but the media blew it up into something it wasn't and Harbaugh is still catching hell for it! needless to say as George mentioned this will be a hot topic from here on through the Superbowl...Sammy

You guys got wayyy to much money!!:) a Cadillac luxury model?? and here I'm driving a Jeep (what for it George) Patriot!! I did notice my tires this past Sunday were a little on the low side, must be a Patriot thing^&grin^&grin.... just kidding!!!!!!!!! to me the whole thing is a joke, as a member of the Colts team said "the Patriots could have beating us using a bar of soap instead of footballs as they were the better team" oh and to the rich Professor, almost 80 degrees yesterday and today high 70s her in AZ. :smile2:...Sammy

I don't understand the rule...

somebody clarify for me...

does each team use it's own ball on offense?

when their is a change of possession...does the new offensive squad get one of their own 12 approved balls to play with?

every time possession changes...do you get one of you own 12 approved balls that are kept on your sideline and guarded by your own ball boy?

George,

Wow, let's no go jumping into the Charles just yet. Obviously, this doesn't look good because of past history but where there is smoke doesn't necessarily mean there's fire.

Per the ESPN story, we have NFL sources saying 11 of the 12 balls were underinflated. However, those are the infamous "sources." I don't believe the NFL has officially said anything.

Secondly, if we assume that there were some balls were underinflated, does that mean it was done on purpose. I don't think anyone knows that answer. I hear a lot of people jumping on Belichick but if the balls were underinflated how do we know he was involved and it just wasn't some zealous ball boy or equipment man.

I heard that Rodgers said he likes the ball over inflated. Could this not be a situation where the rule is observed more in the breach.

I know a rule is a rule but do we seriously think this made a difference against a team that had little chance to win anyway.

Since Mike asked about the rule and I've mentioned it, according to CBS Sports, the NFL rulebook digest states "the home club shall have 36 balls for outdoor games and 24 for indoor games available for testing with a pressure gauge by the referee two hours prior to the starting time of the game to meet with League requirements." CBS Sports goes on to say that pre-game testing is mandated for 12 primary footballs supplied by the home team, with 12 backups also made available.

The requirements are set forth in Rule 2, The Ball, Sections 1 and 2. See http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/image/rulebook/pdfs/5_2013_Ball.pdf

I think we need to keep some sense of proportion about this.

That's how I understand it Mike, each team has it's own supply of balls that with each change of possession, the balls get swapped out.

That in and of itself is idiotic; do they do the same for the other sports, each team supplies their own baseballs, basketballs and hockey pucks? Why don't they make things simple and have the LEAGUE supply the balls, have the refs bring them to each game under lock and key and they and only they get to handle them right up until game time.

Thanks to the Patriots and their nonsensical BS, they will probably do this going forward from now on.
