NFL 2015 Season (2 Viewers)

Well, the Steelers at times gave the Patriots all they could handle. I will go as far to say if they could cover Gronk, they may have won! That said, I didn't expect a win with it being in Foxborough nor with Brady playing, but I think we have some foundation. If the Steelers can keep some consistency by Game 5, I think we will be "in" every game, just not sure how many we win. The saying "flashes of brilliance" is going to apply to this season........along with "flashes of ineptitude.

On another note, can the Patriots or the NFL together ever avoid controversy???? Now we have "HeadsetGATE". This is just a crazy story and there must be something to it for the Steelers to be so vocal and fired up, that is not how Rooney organizations do anything. They have always been very private in any complaints. This may well be an NFL issue again, but it is amazing how it all comes back to the Patriots being in the mix. Again, I am not casting stones as that is unfair to Patriot fans as they can't control it, but it has to be getting old to continually be in the news in this area.

I didn't watch the whole game but to me this is a game that it was almost impossible for the Pats to lose, not because it's the Steelers; it could have been the 85 Bears and I think the Pats would have won. This was an "us against the world" kind of game, where all of New England (the team and the fans) had a "we're going to show Roger and the world" kind of mentality: "how dare you try to take down our fair haired boy, Tom Brady! We'll show you." In that kind of atmosphere, it was a no lose situation for the Pats.

Brady was smoking hot...at one time 19 completions in a row...

Pittsburgh's secondary just looked confused...

either Edelman and Gronkowski executed perfectly run routs or Pittsburgh's defense is a little suspect...

Roethlisberger had a good game...but Brady had a great game...

their 2 missed field goals and not recovering the fumble on the goal line were costly...

I'm pretty sure Pittsbugh will be fine...I'm positive New England will...

the Vegas line was NE-7...so whoever you took...it was a push...

Tom...Deangelo Williams looked in mid season form...

Mike, both you and Brad on spot on in your assessments.

My head hurts from reading about HEADSETGATE this morning, have you read this yet? Man, controversy follows the Pats/NFL like flies on you know what, it is amazing.

hahaha...

yes...

I have read it...and seen the Tomlin post game interview...

it happened on the 1st series...lasting for 14 minutes of the 1st quarter...

I saw the Tomlin interview...I know he was hot...

fixing it needs to be addressed promptly...

if it happens at the next home game...it will really become a big issue...

Now reports are coming out that the Steelers TE coach kicked someone on the way to the locker room?? wow, looks like more drama on the sidelines then the field...Sammy

This headset issue is a little too coincidental for my liking. Tomlin is a man of character and if he thinks something funny was going on, I believe him.

maybe it was a glitch in the entire system...
on both sides...
but if this is true...
and who really knows if it is...
then I'm suspect...

Based on my reporting Friday morning, the NFL was in the process of enforcing the equity rule Thursday night but never did. A story on the Steelers' website claims that "whenever an NFL representative proceeded to the New England sideline to shut down their headsets, the Steelers headsets cleared. Then as the representative walked away from the New England sideline, the Steelers' headsets again started to receive the Patriots game broadcast."

A source with knowledge of the NFL's response confirmed a version of that claim. According to the source, the league sent an official to shut down the Patriots' headsets once it determined Pittsburgh's communications were down. While en route, the malfunction ceased. The problem resurfaced briefly but was resolved and did not recur, so the league never had reason to apply the equity rule.

After an offseason that demonstrated a clear divide between the NFL and the Patriots, one described in detail by an Outside the Lines exposé earlier this week, it's worth noting the careful wording of the NFL's explanation for Thursday night's problems.

According to the statement, the interference Tomlin referred to was "caused by a stadium power infrastructure issue, which was exacerbated by the inclement weather." The statement noted that the "coaches' communications equipment, including the headsets, is provided by the NFL for both clubs' use on game day" but made clear that "the equipment functioned properly with no additional issues" once the power failure was resolved -- presumably by stadium officials.

The NFL added Friday: "Technological and stadium infrastructure issues of this type happen at many stadiums around the league and whenever there are issues of this nature, we do a thorough review."

That's true -- headset communication failures are not uncommon in NFL games. But an obviously agitated Tomlin said "that's always the case" in New England. Tomlin's sentiment jibes with the OTL report, which noted it has happened so often at Gillette Stadium over the years that "one team asked a league official to sit in the coaches' box during the game and wait for it to happen. Sure enough, on a key third down, the headset went out."

Given all that has gone on in the off season it would be beyond brazen if the Pats were behind the headset problem in week one. Week two maybe, but it's more likely just incompetence. The NFL makes something like $13 billion but can't get the headsets to work.

Looks like I was wrong then :redface2:

People, myself included, are making unwarranted assumptions sometimes.

some crazy games today, never saw the *** whipping coming by the bills over the Colts, my Ravens had a nail biter to the end but lost (Thanks Flacck) to Denver, Manning looked pretty bad all day, and the Seahawks have another tough one to think about...Sammy

Lots of empty seats in St. Louis. Hopefully that means the Rams are heading back to LA instead of the Raiders. Nice win to start the season. Finishing last has its advantages with all those draft picks.

That Denver/Browns game was brutal, no offensive touchdowns, two PIC 6's for the only TD's.

Suggs tore his achilles, out for the year, hope for his sake it's not the same one he tore before or he could be done.

Bills played like it was their super bowl; fatso will have them pumped and jacked next week for their second super bowl in a row vs New England.

Have to give fatso credit, he had the Jets super amped up for those two games vs New England every year; the other 14 games a year is where the problem started.
