NFL Season 2016-17 (2 Viewers)

Kaepernick is starting to get some scattered support...

sadly...

I would expect a lot more...

George will get a kick out of this:

I was talking with a buddy of mine who is a season ticket holder for a team that I would rather not name. He told me that this year he called his customer service rep to complain about the cost of pre-season tickets. He said that the girl was extremely polite and basically told him that the NFL sees them as actual National Football League games that are important to the season and the team thus the cost is what it is. He said he paused and then asked, if these games are real and effect the season then why aren't pre-season games used for players to sit-out for suspensions? He said the silence that followed was so long he finally asked if she was still there..............

I'd love to buy that guy one or twenty drinks....................

Interesting story I suppose but she's there to sell tickets and nothing else. What do you expect her to say. She's just doing her job.

Brad:

I don't think that he had any problem with her. He even pointed out that her answer to the cost question seemed canned and that it was obvious to him that others had asked before and that was the prepared answer.

Looks like Pete's Vikings are back in business as they just picked up Sam Bradford from the Eagles.

I was late arriving to a small college football game over the weekend. They started playing the national anthem while i was still walking to my seats and everyone froze - even the smallest kids - in the parking lot and faced the flag until it was over. This kind of celebrity athlete nonsense wouldn't play in 99 percent of America. While these jokers have every right to express their opinion, every fan has a right to give it right back to them. Stop buying their jersey and give them the appropriate double eagle salute at the stadium and on the street.

Speaking of jersey sales, I read that Kapernick's is currently the most popular.

That maybe Speculators hoping to cash in on the controversy. Controversy sells.

Many years ago a Disney Song of the South DVD was on the market for $14.95. Fast selling before pulled. I think because of some
copyright infringement. You could still get them at Disney World in Paris for quite a while. Yes, I did. One of the kids favorites growing up.
Disney said that they were not going to rerelease it. Sales shot up. Now old copies go for upwards of $100.

Last year a Children's book A Birthday Cake for George Washington was released for $9.95 on Amazon. After complaints about slaves
being featured Amazon pulled it as did most book stores. Mostly sold out anyway. Yes, I did. Now goes for about $50, and for a while over $200.

Just as I expected, his jersey sales are through the roof right now....................what a country.

The shame that is the San Francisco 49ers just get worse everyday. In the past few years the police blotter has been filled with their players, recently they have all but encouraged Kaepernick to act like an ignoramus and last night their starting fullback Bruce Miller was arrested for assaulting and breaking the nose of a 70 year-old man.

When Eddie DeBartolo Jr. owned the 49ers they were considered the class of the league both on and off the field. They are now one of the biggest embarrassments in all of sports.

A short term product of all the publicity. I used to see folks wearing OJ and Ray Lewis jerseys. Not so much anymore. It only takes a handful of folks to make a jump in jersey sales for a team like the 49ers. From zero to one is a 100% increase. And you can imagine in SF that there are some folks who are sympathetic. When this guy leaves SF to play some road games he is going to be in for a real shocker. Eventually when the heat gets too much, he will claim he has made his point. A year or two from now no one will remember he was even alive much less his protest.

Great post and on point. Agree completely with you on this one.

Even before Song of the South was on DVD officially in Paris, I bought the PAL VHS tape as I have a worldwide VCR that allows playback. Funny thing, is I still have the VCR hooked up to play that tape and a few others. My son watched the story as I did as a kid. It still does go for big bucks!

I was driving back from an appointment and Ian Rappaport from the NFL Channel was on WFAN and he indicated that the entire Seahawks team might sit for the Anthem. If true, I think this will grow.

If the NFL had any ****s they would suspend anyone who does this. If they prohibit teams like the Cowboys from honoring fallen police officers, it is difficult to see how they can allow an ersatz protest during the game. Anyone outside the celebrity, athlete culture and a fringe element in our society is appalled by that kind of behaviour. People in the media have become afraid to criticize anyone lest they be deemed a bigot or intolerant of other views but this is outrageous. King Pete should throw down the hammer if the NFL does not.

I am just curious but how can anyone think that the Broncos are going to defend their Super Bowl title, let alone make the playoffs?

Unbelievable.

Are the "12's" going to sit too?

They made the playoffs, won the division, secured home field advantage on the last day of the season and won the Super Bowl thanks to an all world defense dragging the corpse of Frankenforehead all the while.

They still have a great defense; KC and Oakland are supposed to be better, but we'll see.

I have them as the #2 team in the AFC behind the Steelers right now, the Patriots are a distant third.
