NFL Season 2016-17 (5 Viewers)

I watched the Raiders vs. the Broncos and the Cowboys vs. the Browns this weekend. The Raiders and Cowboys both looked really good. However I did not see anything from either one that dissuades me from thinking that the Patriots are the best team in the NFL.

so what is roughing the kicker?

I think Buffalo got screwed horribly on the last 2 plays of the half...

Again the poor officiating in the NFL rears its ugly head at a key moment. The 3 points that ridiculous no-call cost the Bills made a big difference as down the stretch they had to go for a touchdown instead of a field goal. And the NFL wonders why ratings are down? Poor officiating combined with rule changes that take the hitting, for me the most fun part of the game, (turning a great hit on a receiver which separates him from the ball into a 15 yard penalty for the other team), have turned me off to the game. I have started watching hockey, where a fast physical game is still available without 20+ interruptions by the zebras. And the best part is for all their concerns about safety it's still only the big name high-priced players (QB and WR) who are being protected. You can hit the helmets of Running backs, offensive linemen and defensive players all you like. What a joke.

I was skipping channels and ran across the game quite by accident, right as the Bills lined up for the FG. I watched it long enough to see that disgraceful bit of theater occur. What a completely ridiculous call. Seattle gets an off-side call, clobbers the Bills kicker (no call for roughing, or any other personal foul) and the Bills pay for Seattle's crime by not being able to kick. What a joke. I promptly changed the channel and never went back. The NFL has become a bad joke. It is no wonder former fans like me no longer care to 'live or die' by NFL games. I now prefer NCAA football (even with it's faults), NCAA basketball, and, lord help me, I might even start watching hockey. Come on, April. -- Al

I stand corrected as Roethlisberger played yesterday.

He stunk.

They lost.

They're now 4-4, their defensive is the problem, it's putrid.

Well, I didn't get to watch the Steelers live, thank God. George, I normally agree, but parts of the defense did their job (I watched the replayed game to put myself through torture). The blocked punt was a killer.

IF I had to assess the game - the Wallace td by the Ravens was a good play pure and simple, he beat the secondary. They did have some shining moments though in sacks, fumble and INT. What I think was the real problem with the game was a WAY too conservative Offensive game plan. If you are going to lose, lose by firing the gun, don't lose by calling a running play on seemingly every 3rd down. Once the 4th qtr rolled around and desperation set in, different plan which they should have used all day. Not sure if Ben was weak, rusty or whatever, but at the end of the game, he looked with it, they just were way too late showing up to the party.

NOW, the onside kick should go down as the biggest foul up in that guy's career, that was putrid!

End of day, they still lost and they need to right the ship this week and get back some momentum or else they will be enjoying the tropics early as they will be out!

Truthfully, not sure what to think of the Ravens, when I watched the replay, I was so focused on the Steelers stinking up the joint, I didn't form an opinion on the Ravens. Something tells me the division will come down to the Xmas Game in the Burgh.

On another note, I still think Steve Smith is the most classless piece of garbage in football. The guy's mouth never shuts up, I don't wish him any injury, but I wouldn't mind seeing a middle LB clean his clock and shut the proverbial mouth. I just find no reason for that crap in football.

Tom...not looking forward to visiting Pittsburgh next week...it will be the Cowboy's biggest challenge to date...a good QB with a little protection should be able to shred the Dallas secondary with injuries to both Claiborne (groin) and Church (broken forearm)...their secondary is not that good with them but will really suffer without them...Vegas has Pitt -3...they need to run the ball and control the clock...should be a fun watch...

The referee crew that officiated that game is the same set of ********* that officiated the Patriots/Colts AFCCG, aka, the "Deflategate" game......................I rest my case........................

In fairness to that kid, he pulled off the opposite foot kick in college and it was spectacular, totally fooled the other team, he just missed it this time around.

I can't fault him for that, he gave it his best shot........................

It is the ultimate high risk type of kick, all or nothing really. Hats of to him for trying it. Heck, if I tried that I would have tripped and fell flat on my face before I even got to the ball.

Tomlin already said...he would let him try it again if needed...

Did anybody else notice that every time the Seahawks have been on Monday Night Football over the past few years, there has been an obvious bad call in their favor that changes the tenor or outcome of the game? It's a pretty big "coincidence".

maybe not a Sunday night game...but week 6 they got away with a doozy...Sherman on Julio Jones...definitely a game changer...

Sammy...

congrats...

you're in 1st place...

even at 34...Terrell Suggs is still a beast...

good game...

Thanks Mike..just wish we could play Cleveland every week :)

hahaha...

I know what you mean...

we had them last week...

still whoever plays them...it's a trap game...gotta take an 0-9 team as serious as any other team...

Another dreary Thursday night game. Goodall talked at a financial conference and indicated they were looking at various solutions to falling revenues, including reducing the number of in-week games.

They could start by not having Cleveland play on Thursday or Monday nights.

NFL could be a lot worse...

read a story today on Fox Sports that a referee died during a match yesterday in Mexico...

from a head butt given to him by a disgruntled soccer player he red carded...
