NFL Season 2016-17 (2 Viewers)

NFL could be a lot worse...

read a story today on Fox Sports that a referee died during a match yesterday in Mexico...

from a head butt given to him by a disgruntled soccer player he red carded...

Saw that happen a few years ago in an English match. Fortunately, the ref wasn't hurt but the player was suspended for half the season.

in this case...

the footballer is a fugitive of the law on the run...

I appreciate enthusiasm in any sport...by fans and athletes...

but there has to be a limit...

Freak win o' the day: Saints lined up to kick the game winning extra point but the Broncos blocked it and returned it for 2 points and the win. Talk about bad luck. -- Al

I'll be stunned if Denver doesn't make it back to the Super Bowl; when you're good, you're good, when you're lucky, you're lucky.

On that play, the center was held so the player could jump over him, no call.

The ball gets blocked and goes right into the hands of the guy on the outside, who scoops it up and runs it back all the way.

And he 100%, positively, absolutely stepped out of bounds, but no reversal.

Why? Because the league sees what they want to see.

The Patriots are not beating Denver in Denver, their defense is crap, they got roasted by a horrible Seattle offensive line, no pressure on Wilson, as in none.

In today's NFL, you build your defense from the ends out, the Patriots in their infinite wisdom traded away an all pro defensive end and an all pro outside linebacker.

They are a fraud 7-2 team that will be exposed as the season goes on..........................

Thankfully the Vikings are saving me the anxiety of seeing them choke in the playoffs.

We're choking early in the season instead.

I got a call yesterday from the team...I played offensive line in 10th grade (at 6'3" and 150 lbs) and they consider that enough experience to sign me up. If I drink enough beer I can balloon up to 300 pounds and play as well as the guys they have now!

Wow, really enjoyed the Steeler vs Cowboy shoot out. I was cheering and jumping up and down and then having horrific flashbacks for immaculate receptions and Lynn Swann acrobatics. Cowboys pulled it out in the end. I think they are legit, but tons of credit to Pittsburgh for a great game.

Then I could say I knew him when.......

What a great game, I thought it was over when Roethlisberger pulled a Dan Marino with the fake spike and threw the TD with hardly any time left on the clock, but give Dallas credit, they marched down the field and scored the winning TD when the Steelers defense parted like the red sea and Elliot could have walked that one in.

And for those dumping all over Dallas for taking that kid in the first round; who's laughing now, he's a beast.

Cowboys/Seachickens in the NFCCG...............

Yeah, watching on TV it was so obvious what they were doing, but I am sure it was different on the field after playing for so long.

Eliot really is amazing, and I think Dak should be undisputed starter now. I just wouldn't rule out Jerry Jones f-ing a good thing up.

I played with one of his sons at Georgetown back in the day. Definitely more money than either brains or class.

This QB scenario reminds me of the one in New England back in 2001 when Mo Lewis nearly killed Bledsoe on a hit and Brady stepped in and led the team to a series of wins and when Bledsoe was healthy again, Belichick stuck with Brady all the way to the first SB championship in Patriots history.

The following off season, Bledsoe was traded and that was that.

Even Jerah isn't dumb enough to mess with what is going on right now; stick with the hot hand.

I was amazed at the amount of Cowboys fans in the stands in Pittsburg yesterday, that team travels better than any other team out there aside from maybe the Steelers and the Packers.

How bout dem Cowboys!!

what's with the Jerry barbs today?

George...

even Jerah isn't that dumb..what does that mean?

and Bradley...

other than definitively saying Jerry Jones might screw things up...

were you referring to his son...or himself...

when you state that he has more money than class or brains?

I am commenting on an over-abundance of ego in both of them, and his (the elders) tendency to micro-manage the team.

On a positive note, as I have watched games this year I do not remember Jerry coming down on the field as much. That might be a sign he has backed off some.

Mostly Mike, I am just really happy they are doing so well with what seem like really decent (personality wise) young players. Part of what drew me to the Cowboys as a kid was the incredible dignity of Staubach, Landry and many other players. There have been times in the Jones era I thought this was less an aspect of who they are.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for what I see (at distance) of Dak, Eliot, Romo, Witten and many other players. It would be great for the Cowboys to once again be a dignified version of America's team who could win and be respectable.

I still feel that the Patriots are the best team in the NFL and Cleveland is the worst team.

In fact, Cleveland is so bad they might lose during their bye week.

Mike,
What he said..........................Jerry is like Kraft, an owner who meddles when he shouldn't. Kraft had one of the greatest coaches in the history of the NFL in Parcells and he meddled too much and drove him out the door, Parcells in his goodbye press conference had a great line "If they want you to cook the dinner, they should let you shop for the groceries", just get out of the way and let the team do their thing.

And your barking up the wrong tree with me Mike; I've been a Cowboys fan since the early 1970's, the NFL is not the same when they are not competitive.

And again, look at the highlights of that game yesterday, there were a ****ton of Dallas fans in the stands.

In Pittsburg.

Jason,
Their defense is going to do them in, it's mediocre at best, they play a soft zone because they have no bigtime play makers who can step up and be a game changer, just a bunch of JAG's, they call it a bend but don't break defense; well last night they broke to the tune of 31 points.

This defense reminds me a lot of the 2009/2010 teams, specifically the 2010 team that was 14-2 and lost to the immortal Mark Sanchez and the Jets at home in the first round, they were the #1 seed that year and were a fraud 14-2 team, the Jets and fatso exposed them in the playoffs............too bad as the offense is pretty much all world, they should have hung 31 on Seattle yesterday, first and goal at the 2 and they couldn't punch it in, they got too cute with not one, but two QB sneaks, just give it to Blount and let him do his thing.

George:

I can see what you are saying, certain offenses are going to give their defense problems but with an offense led by Brady they will probably still be the favorite no matter who they play.

On a side note I truly think that every coach should emulate Belichick on how to win and lose. The guy was pure class last night after the loss. You could hear him congratulate Carroll when they met at the end of the game and in his post game press conference he did not make excuses, he simply gave the Seahawks credit. In that sense (and many others) he reminds me of my favorite all-time coach, Bill Walsh.

Well, the entire Steelers defense should be fired. Hats off to the Cowboys, they found a way to win. Pittsburgh just can't get it right this year.

TD

Tom...

thanks...you're a good sport...

Big Ben looks healthy...400 yards passing...had a feeling he would torch the Cowboys...

Pittsburgh may run the table on what is left of their schedule...no worries for you...they will be in the playoffs...

hope Dallas can beat your division leader this week...

good luck...

Going to be a good game Mike, Ravens coming in with the no. 1 defense in the league vs. the Cowboys great offense, if the Ravens can find some continuity on offense then they may have a shot, but if bad Flacco shows up all game it will be a long day, but in the end I believe it will be a good game that will come down to the final few possessions.
