NFL Season 2016-17 (1 Viewer)

I'm sorry George. I wasn't thinking about the passing of your Uncle. Again my condolences.

Yeah, like I said, sometimes things go sideways, but in the end, it's all good.

Today is another difficult day, I had a tough time sleeping last night thinking about all the memories and as Brad told me in an email, it's sad because as time goes on, that's all any of us will have.

Ok boys, the rooms getting dusty, time to go.............

1. The forward progress call was complete crap and was a terrible call. It was clearly a fumble as he was losing control in mid tackle. Not even close on replay in my opinion.

Before I go, not to harp on this as they won the game and all; that said, I just saw a video where that NFL stooge Dean Blandino explained away that horrendous call; he said the QB's forward progress was stopped at the initial point of contact by the defender, the play was whistled dead at that point, so even though the ball came out, it came out after the play was blown dead.

What?

Flacco was BACKPEDDLING in the pocket like all QB's do as they are about to pass, what forward progress?

How can you go forward and backward at the same time?

Once, just once, I'd love for the NFL to come out and say a ref clearly blew call.

I've been watching the NFL for 50 years and I've never, ever, as once, seen a QB ruled down as forward progress is stopped.

Absolutely unbelievable.

And finally, my apologies if anyone out there is waiting on an order from me as I am doing my best to clear the decks here as I deal with my family situation, will attempt to ship later today once I get back, just depends on what time, then full steam ahead tomorrow, Friday and Monday through Friday next week to ensure everyone gets their orders by the 24th...............again, sorry.......................

George,

Again, sorry about your Uncle. You may want to post your last paragraph in the general toy soldier section or chat section so more people see it than just the football fans.

Louis...

I was looking at the standings today...and just realized...I'm in full panic mode now...^&grin...

while Dallas made the playoffs 2 weeks ago...if everything goes wrong...I think they could finish with the wild card...it's hard for me to figure...but I think that is a possibility...

last weeks Giant's win is really screwing with my head...I knew it was a big game...but I didn't realize the implications of just how important that game was to the Cowboys...Dallas at 11-2 has not won the conference or even their division yet...so far...they are just assured a playoff spot...

if they lose out their last 3 games...with their 2 losses to your Giants...

and if the Giants run the board...then ending at 11-5...they could end up tied...with NY getting the tie breaker....

worse yet...Dallas could actually end up being a wild card if everything goes wrong...I think...not sure as Detroit plays both of us...

the Giants at 9-4...could finish at 12-4...if they run the table on the Lions at home and the Eagles and Washington on the road...which is very possible...the Giants can still win the division and conference outright...unless the Cowboys win 2 of their last 3 games...to finish at 13-3...

again...not sure of the mathematical equation...as it's so convoluted with teams playing same teams weekly can drastically change the standings...

both Tampa Bay and Seattle could finish with 11-5 records...if they win out...

your Giants are 5 point Vegas favorites against Detroit this week...

Dallas is a 7 1/2 point Vegas favorite against Tampa this week...

while you're peaking...Dallas has hit a stumbling block offensively...barely escaping losses with both Washington and Minnesota...the Dallas offense has only scored 24 points in their last 2 games...

they have converted just 2 of their last 24 third-down tries...that's an unreal terrible stat!

both Tampa Bay and Detroit are the 2 hottest winning streak teams in the NFL right now...gonna be a nervous week for me...

I'm probably gonna have to sweat this out til week 17...

Mike,

There is absolutely no way the Giants run the table and the Cowboys lose out, so relax. The Giants will lose at least one of the two remaining road Division games, nobody ever sweeps the road Division games. Frankly, the way the offense is playing, I wouldn't be surprised if he Giants lost out. Unless the Good Eli surfaces, and the receivers get cured of a bad case of the dropsies, the Giants offense is in bad shape.

My biggest concern, if I were you, is Dak Prescott's confidence. He has basically had three straight poor performances, and should have lost the Vikings game. Its just growing pains, or the rookie wall, the kid is going to be good for a long time, but right now his confidence has to be ebbing, a lot of people are calling for Romo, and he plays another very hot, very tough defense in Tampa Sunday. I want him to beat Tampa, and take the heat of the Giants in the wild card race (I think if Tampa loses, and the Giants manage to beat Detroit, the Giants are almost assured of a Wild Card). If he doesn't play well, and gets pulled for Romo, that's the only way I see Dallas potentially choking down the stretch (Romo will need a couple of games to get up to speed, and he is terribly injury prone).

Some of the radio hosts in NY are having fun with the possible Prescott - Romo controversy, Romo coming back, and highlighting Tony's record in December. As Prescott is a rookie, he may have hit the wall. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for him, if he's performing poorly, if they took him out and put Romo in for a game, just for a breather to allow Prescott to get his bearings back.

Louis...for a Cowboy fan...whatever happens from here on out is gravy...this has already been a great year...we made the playoffs and have a young QB and running back for the future...the offensive line's average is 26 years old...so we have something to look forward in coming years...and if they dump Romo somewhere...it will free up a ton of money...so I'm thinking may be able to buy some good defensive players next year...especially a pass rusher and something that resembles a secondary...

Brad...I know you know as well as I do...that these talk shows...the NFL Network and even ESPN...to a large degree struggle for stories and topics wherever they can find...to create some controversy and speculation...to keep viewers reading or listening to them...as annoying as it gets sometimes...it's their job...at 11-2...I'm not ready for a change in QB's...in the last month...Prescott just played against Minnesota and Baltimore...two of the elite defenses in the NFL...

he's also beaten Kirk Cousins twice...Andy Dalton...Aaron Rodgers...Ben Rothlesberger...Joe Flacco...Sam Bradford...

I hope that's the NYG's radio show and not the NYJ's radio show that is giving advice on QB's...cause the Jets need to address their own problems at QB...:wink2:

gonna be a hard game to watch tonight...

the money line (no points...no odds...no handicap...whoever wins straight up) in Vegas on this match up...

you have to bet $900 on Seattle to win a measly $100...

and if that doesn't sound good...

if you bet $100 on the Rams...and they win...you win $1,600...that's a long shot...

actually...as a rule...the Rams give them fits...already beat them once this year...but that was in L A....Seattle has not lost at home this season...the Rams without Fisher...actually...that may work in the Ram's favor...

I doubt I will even watch this game...

I think the Rams beat Seattle earlier this season. You never know exactly what you are getting the first game after a coach is fired. Sometimes a team will come out flying. Sometimes not. I expect the Rams to lose big though. At least they are not playing in Chicago or somewhere where a blizzard is going on and I would have to endure not only watching them get slaughtered but the commentators making snide remarks about how they can't cope with the cold and snow because they are softies from LA.

Memo to the Rams; keep that outstanding dark blue and white helmet.

Dump the rest of that get up.

Memo to Seattle; burn those pathetic uniforms.

What a tire fire this league has become.

Those green unis do stand out! All blue would have been better.

This is a big weekend for many of our teams . . . The Giants can clinch a playoff berth with a victory over Detroit and a couple of other losses. The Cowboys can clinch the NFC East and a bye with a victory over Tampa. The Redskins, Vikings and Packers all need to win to stay in the hunt. I think George's Patriots clinch a bye with a win in Denver. Week 15, December football, were the contenders are separated from the pretenders (I still don't know which the Giants are)!

With no clear cut dominant teams, this thing is wide open, if nothing else the playoffs this year will be entertaining..............

My Ravens can take a game easily in hand and make it a nail biter to the final second ^&confuse I guess the old line is "a win is a win" fits the bill here today but should have never even been close, I also see the Steelers came back after being down big to the Bengals to win that game, so the Christmas day game of Ravens/Steelers basically is up for the AFC North title, going to be good.

I watched this game and the Ravens were fortunate to win. Flacco made a horrible throw that was intercepted and opened the door for the Philly rally. Good Flacco/bad Flacco, this team is frustrating to watch. They are sort of like the proverbial box of chocolates... :rolleyes2: They better show up for real in Pittsburgh. -- Al

Rodgers has been one of the hotest quarterbacks lately and it showed today. He hit Jordy Nelson on what can best be described as a desperation heave that set up the winning FG. They couldn't have had a better Sunday as both Lions and Vikings lost. They've gotten hot at the right time.

congrats Sammy...George...Louis...Tom...

I hope all of us win today....^&grin...I'm worried about Tampa Bay tonight...

I flipped channels between the NYG's and Pittsburg...didn't get to see Flacco...then watched NE...

Sammy...Tom...this may all be decided for you two on Christmas day...that should be a really good game...will probably be a meaningful game for both of you...

Louis...your defense is clicking at the right time...given up 13 points in the last 2 games...very hard to run against...they may be better without JPP...

George...NE covers again...no matter who doesn't suit up...as long as Brady is in the mix...you always feel like they will win...he's the engine that makes that team special...

Cross "not being able to win in Denver" off the list for now, total domination from start to finish, specifically on defense, they surrendered a measly 3 points and forced three turnovers on the way to a division clinching 16-3 win.

The defense is peaking at the right time.........................win the last two games and lock down the #1 seed and go from there.

That's 8 strait AFC East titles; they Dolphins, Jets and Bills may be the march of the tomato cans, but the Patriots are the first team in NFL history to win their division 8 strait times.

I am just happy the Giants won! Great D and mediocre offense without turnovers got the job done.

Thanks Mike, good news on Cowboys.

My only comment for the upcoming game is that the Steelers control their own destiny. With the offense they have in the 3 B's, it is up to them. Ben, Brown, Bell. They need to take care of business.

Yesterday's game was a tale of two halves - defense was soft early then came on like a train, total shutdown. IF they get to Flacco, this should be their game to lose, they need to come out strong as bulls against the Ravens, if they play well early, it should be a good day. If they let it stay close...........................that is when I will get sick.

As to the Ravens yesterday, I don't know what else to say other than a game of horseshoes anyone? You may need to retrieve the lucky shoe from the Ravens. They had the game in hand and I truly believe had Philly kicked the extra point and put it in OT, they had momentum. Unbelievable finish.
