Nfl season 2017-2018 (2 Viewers)

Louis...
a ray of sunshine...
gotta be the best 0-5 team in the NFL...
I don't think they like being 12 point dogs...
giving Siemian fits...
Jenkins bit him hard...

I know I hate to play you guys...

Mike,

Its the first time they looked like an NFL team all season. I think its the combination of the offensive line changes (this is the best they've looked in 2 seasons) and Sullivan replacing MacAdoo calling the plays. The season is already over for the Jints, so it doesn't matter, but its a nice change anyway.

here is your injury report...

The Giants inactive list has some prominent names: WR Sterling Shepard, DEs Olivier Vernon and Romeo Okwara, LB Jonathan Casillas, C Weston Richburg, RB Paul Perkins, and QB Davis Webb. That's five starters and doesn't include Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Dwayne Harris being placed on injured reserve this week.

the list is long....and all the studs are gone...

Eli can be really effective when he has time...but he reminds me of Cutler and Rivers once he gets sacked 2-3 times...he just wants to dump the ball anywhere and quick to avoid contact...tonight he's a different guy with a little protection...

Denver crushed Dallas...we all know they have a good defense...as the Giants do too...Eli doesn't seem to miss OBJ...Sheppard and Marshall tonight...

I think they got fired up being a 12 point dog...even though they don't bet...all the players are aware of the Vegas line...I think that line was a motivational insult to them...

The Niners have lost their last 5 games by either 2 or 3 points (3, 2, 3, 3, and 2). Tough losses to be sure. They have been in all of those games and that is a good sign. The bad news is that there is no listing for being competitive in the standings.

Mike,

I completely agree with your analysis, but the bottom line is by starting out 0-5, the Giants blew their season, regardless of the excuses or explanations for their failures.

But last night’s success against a 3-1 Bronco team with the #1 overall and #1 rush defense begs a question: why couldn’t the Giants play this hard and well before half of their best players got injured? The answer to me is twofold: MacAdoo wasn’t doing his job as head coach and they weren’t playing the right group on the offensive line. Turning the play calling over to the offensive coordinator Sullivan was an eye opener. The Giants passed the ball first, which opened up the run, and made them far less predictable. But that isn’t possible without the significantly improved offensive line play. Sitting down their godawful right tackle (a Jerry Reese free agent signing) moving Pugh to right tackle, John Jerey from right guard to left guard, and putting in Fekl, the biggest and strongest lineman on the team, who was sitting because MacAdoo thought he was not athletic enough for his style of offense, which has a lot of pulling guards, made a huge difference. Suddenly the Giants has 3 linemen together on the right side of the line who could open holes a running back could actually fit through, something they could not do in their first 5 games. It also allowed Eli to roll right away from the pass rushers Flowers and Jerry would inevitably let through. MacAdoo and Jerry Reese have yet to explain to me why, as bad as the O-line was playing Fekl didn’t get a look before last night. If the Giants continue to successfully run the ball behind this offensive line, the failure to play Fekl sooner may be one of the biggest reasons for this lost season. If the offense continues to click behind Sullivan’s playcalling, MacAdoo’s refusal to let the offensive coordinator call the plays becomes another big indictment of MacAdoo and Jerry Reese. It’s only one game, so all of this may turn out to have been a flash in a pan, but then again, if the Giants continue to play better and win some games, it will make Giants fans even more pissed off at the teams management.

Don't worry Louis; the Giants still have plenty of time to finish 9-7 and win that broken toilet of a division and with no Rodgers now, the stars will align and they'll back their way into yet another Super Bowl appearance.

As far as the Patriots; they are going nowhere, McClown threw for over 300 yards vs them yesterday, his previous high this year was 247.

N-O-W-H-E-R-E.

And sorry NFL fans around the league whining about the non TD yesterday in the Jets game; the receiver lost possession of the ball as he crossed the goal line, regained it out of bounds after he crossed the goal line, that's a touchback.

If you are going to whine about the calls, learn the rules first.

Thanks Giants and Steelers for knocking off the Chefs and the Donkos yesterday too by the way.

at this rate the Steelers will have the North wrapped by Halloween , my God, I've seen the Ravens play bad stretches before but this is about as worse as it has ever been in a long time, Flacco is a laugh right now with the trillion dollar paycheck the Ravens gave him a few years ago, the O line is embarrassing, and all that bullshit talk of this defense being as good as the 2001?? well, how's that working out so far??? at this rate maybe a 7-9 but 6-10, 5-11 wouldn't shock me one bit.

Flacco has been bad but he isn't getting any help, either. As you point out, the O line is bad and the receivers aren't very good. The whole offense is BAD. Ravens have problems and I don't know if they can fix them at this point. -- Al

Pats look pretty good for a NOWHERE team.

Cue the Beatles!

Not sure if it's them looking good or Atlanta throwing up all over themselves.

What in the name of God happened to that offense, they are a hot mess right now.

Hightower and Brown both left the game with injuries, so we'll see what that is all about, Hightower is the key to that defense.

That slate of games yesterday was awful, just awful, was watching the red zone and even with whip around coverage all the games were horrible.

What an awful product the NFL is right now.

Given a choice between the Walking Dead and the game, I opted for the former. It’s a game that should have peaked interest but I elected to only watch the second half. The fog didn’t help but not much you can do about that.

Yes, the NFL is in some trouble.

Have to give Flacco credit; he had a career year, or more importantly, played out of his mind vs Denver, New England and SF and the Browns won a Super Bowl. He did it in a contract year, had the Browns over a barrel and they paid him.

He's been mediocre ever since for the most part.

But you know what; good for him.

I found out over the weekend that Dwight Clark has ALS; these guys sacrifice they bodies and minds to play this sport, so they SHOULD cash in while they can.

I find myself less and less interested in the NFL, mainly due to the ginger haired stooge who's in charge, he's nothing but a puppet, he does what the owners tell him to do, the product on the field is awful. After every score, big run, big punt or kick off return, huge pass, fumble recovery, interception or huge third down stop, I wait for the inevitable flag to be thrown, wiping out the play, not to mention the arbitrary calls they make.

Two examples from last night; Gronkowski makes a great catch, but is flagged for OPI; then Jones mauls the defender in the end zone and catches a TD pass, no call.

Then on a long run, Cannon gets called to a ticky tack phantom holding call; on a long Falcon run, a Patriot defender comes through the line and literally gets tackled from behind by #73 (and that was about the third time he did that), no call.

And yes, both went against the Patriots, so slow your roll; point being, the officiating sucks too, that combined with a ****ty product is not good.

I have found my interest in the NFL shrinking by the year, mainly through a variety of factors. I don't care for the almost total handicapping of defenses in favor of the crowd-pleasing explosion of the pass oriented offense. I simply prefer the old school run offense augmented by strategic passing, with a good hard-nosed defense to strangle the opposition. All are virtually gone in today's game. Nothing irritates me more than an offense that throws 3 passes to go 10 yards, unless it is the blizzard of ridiculous penalty flags that constantly disrupt the flow of the game. Also, in my older age, I have become really bothered by the CTE problems that have been emerging for several years now and the NFL's head-in-the-sand policy and outright lies in an attempt to hide the problems. Put simply, to me anyhow, this game, this form of entertainment, is downright dangerous to the participants. It has always been a tough game and careers are short, but a younger me just didn't pay much attention to it all. The emerging brain trauma, the higher incidence of ALS among players, has made me re-evaluate my interest in the game. I can't do anything about football, nor do I have solutions, but I just can't look at it the same anymore, nor enjoy it as I used to, knowing the price being paid by the players. I know many sports are inherently dangerous, such as boxing and the many extreme sports a have sprung up, but I never much cared for them either. Football is different. It is huge business and it just really bothers me at this point in life, that the players are paying the price for my entertainment. -- Al

On top of what Al said, there are other factors that have hurt them. One recent one is the kneeling. Regardless of where you stand on this issue, many fans, whether rightly or wrongly, have been turned off by what the players have done and have refused to watch the games.

Another real stinker tonight. Dolphins were awful. They should consider getting rid of Thursday Night Football.

It is really difficult to find a good match-up on the remaining TNF schedule except for the Cowboys vs. Redskins on November 30.

Glad to see the Raven's win but I think Brad is right, the NFL needs to dump TNF. Once again, I forgot there was a game on until I was channel surfing and found it somewhere in the 2nd quarter. Remembering the game is even on gets worse when it switches over to the NFL channel later on. Thursday simply isn't football night. That opinion, bolstered by the terrible match-ups leaves TNF DOA in my house. -- Al

Some classy play last night on the Dolphins...the throat grab by Suh, an eye poke by another dolphin and of course the cheap head shot by Alonso on the slide by Flacco, keep that check book open Fins, the front office needs some of your money, keep'n it classy in Miami as always.

The hit on Flacco was brutal. The guy who hit him is usually not in that type of controversy, Flacco slid late and it happened. I don't think the intent was there, but it sure ended up looking dirty and brutal. Hope Flacco is ok, as much of a dud as I think he is, hate to see any hit like that, it was awful. If I were him, I would seriously consider not getting back on the horse. Flacco doesn't need the money and it would seem that it is not worth it after that.

On another note, curious to see what the Steelers do this weekend. If there is ever a time for the O to turn it up, the Lions are the venue. indoors against a struggling team, cmon Ben, prove your mettle!

PS - Sammy, I hope the Steelers lock up the North soon as the overall product sucks across the board. I am bored of the NFL this year.
