Nfl season 2017-2018 (1 Viewer)

would I take a million dollar contract to play for an NFL team?

when I was young...if I had the body...if I had the skills...

hell yes!

tell the truth...
and be honest...
I bet any of you would have...

just like any other NFL player...
I would have those young man "I'm invincible dreams"...
of proving myself worth more money...
a bigger contract...
maybe becoming the MVP...
maybe getting that huge contract...
getting fat off the 50 million...100 million dollar contract...

does anyone ever expect to be hurt...
crippled...
to die...
to end up with ALS or CTE...
no...nobody expects that to happen...
it's the risk you take for the big money...

it's not rare to get irreparable damage in a brutal sport...
but it hardly happens to everyone single person that plays football...
or hockey...or boxing...
it's the risk they take for the big money...

sometimes I ride my motorcycle without a helmet...
do I plan on having a wreck and getting brain damage...or dying...
no...but it happens...
would the helmet even help?
I don't know...maybe...
it's the risk you take...

and that's the risk they take for the big contract...

lots of old boxers and football players retire healthy...
the risk is there...
but the money out weighs it...

what I despise...
are the devastating blind side hits to a defenseless player...
the ugly shots where a player takes that cheap...
"he never saw it coming and I'm gonna purposely hurt him"...
that's what they need to clean up...
and that's on the players...
nobody but the players...
the rules are in place...the fines are in place...
they know what they are doing when they get the chance to lay a "slobber knocker" on a guy...
they only have theirselves to blame for those devastating cheap hits...

When we are young we think we can do anything and consequently take risks we would not otherwise take when we have become a little wiser. Sometimes we need to be protected from ourselves.

The Division playoffs about to start. Just in time for the temps to drop back to the frigid level here in the northeast. Atlanta at Eagles shouldn't be too bad; it's clear but windy. That should create interesting passing/kicking game.

The 2nd game in Foxboro will really be a weather wake up call for Tennessee.

The Eagles are the only remaining team in the NFC that does not play indoors, so if the Falcons win the NFC title game will be played in dome.

As expected, Patriots Titans is an absolute blowout. Great for New England fans, bad for Tennessee fans. Not really worth watching from my standpoint.

Patriots offense was clicking on all cylinders tonight, the defense was all over Mariotta, 8 sacks, a total blowout. Brady looked great, the defense turned it up a notch and did their job.

The Iggles beat the Falcons with an offense from the 1950's; honest to Christ, Foles can't throw the ball more than 10 yards downfield, nothing but screens, slants, sideline outs and dinks and dunks.

Why not play 8 in the box and the safeties down low to take away all that rinky dink crap, they had one decent drive all game long, not to mention that gift of a field goal opportunity at the end of the half; the kicker drilled it from 51 yards, don't get me wrong, but had than FG chance not been handed to them, the Falcons pull the game out with last second field goal instead of having to score a TD at the end.

Whatever.

The Patriots set a record now, 7 strait AFCCG's, just incredible.

This will be their 12th AFCCG in the last 17 years with a chance to go to their EIGHT Super Bowl.

Talk about a spoiled fan base, we're very lucky to be fans of this team is all I can say.

Win or lose next week, this is a great organization.

Matt Patricia was reported to be the Giants choice for HC but he's now going to accept the Lions job.

The Pats look unbeatable particularly with the worst crop of playoff teams that I can remember. The Eagles might have had a chance before they lost their QB but no way now. The Pats offense is maddening. Blitz Brady and the ball is out of his hands before you can touch him. Sit back and he will pick you apart. There doesn't seem to be any answer. The D eventually gets tired and frustrated and gives up. Brady can throw 50 plus times a game and the D hardly ever lays a finger on him. They are a machine right now.

Titans o and d lines both appeared to give up yesterday.

they are just not very good...

in my opinion...the worst team in the playoffs...

getting in at 9-7...in a soft division...

they had a -22 points scored/against in the regular season...

that's not good...^&grin

I lost $$$ on them last week against KC...

NE was -14...and they were attractive to me at that price...
NE is usually money in the bank...

Jags went through the Steelers defense like you know what through a goose.

Jags are 4-1 at Hines Field.

Well yesterday, Eagles did what they had to do. Foles, who has been overthrowing in each game straightened out in the 2nd half with throws. But he's no Wentz when under serious pressure. I thought the best time out of the season was when Eagles were pushing downfield and were pressing a TD at the end and Falcs took that injury timeout. it cooled the Mo so fast you could feel the ice crystalizing. Hell of a finish. But it'll be a lot different with the Vikes. We'll see. I have to apologize to the Pats fans, as I fell asleep before the game started. Woke up as Pats up 14-7 were pressing for a third TD. I fell asleep again. I hate 8:30 games. I'm now officially in full senior citizen sleep mode. OOPS, I feel another nap coming on. GO SOMEBODY!!!

I'm up{sm4}. WOW, JAX up 7-0. Tim Tyler must be having an orgasm.

Todd Haley should officially be fired as Steelers O Coord. My god, less than a yard and he runs outside. I hate to say it, but this is looking bad, bad gameplan, bad execution, etc. Long day ahead
Tom

There's nothing worse than going to a game and before you're hardly in your seat your team is behind the 8 ball.

Unfortunately, this happens, what can go wrong is, now we are down another LB on D, hurts a comeback. I am just stunned, I guess the Jags when they are on, are a pretty good team, I hope we can make it competitive, but I am not sure how we do it, I think we need them to make a mistake!
TD

Tom, that baffled me... you need a half yard and have a 230 lb qb. Let him take it!

Steelers back in the game. Announcers were describing how the taunting penalty gave a boost to Steelers with good field position. Doesn't pay to get ahead of oneself by taunting. Never give another team chalkboard incentive. Second half should be interesting.

Right; cue the Steelers coming out in the second half and marching down the field for a TD, then Jacksonville going three and out, then that big oaf marching them down the field again for the game tying TD.

Then cue me smashing something into 10,000 pieces.

The Steelers are a monumentally annoying team to root against.

Oh and gee, Fornette is probably out for the game, so the immortal Blake Bortles has to put the team on his back.

Poor Steelers, they never catch a break.
