Nfl season 2017-2018 (4 Viewers)

The Iggles coach showed balls with those two fourth down calls; the first one where they ran the trick play on the goal line and the second one with about 5 minutes left from his own 40.

Imagine what Iggles fans would have done to this guy if that second 4th down call when they were down by one failed and the Patriots had the ball on the Iggles 40 yard line, they had just ripped off three strait TD's afterall and were rolling.

IMO, he went for it for two reasons; one, he did not trust his defenses ability to get the ball back (and let's face it, as pathetic as the Patriots defense was, the Iggles defense was not much better, their linebackers and defensive backs got roasted for over SIX hundred total yards, the Patriots did not punt once all game long) and two, he had no fear that the Patriots tire fire of a defense was going to stop him.

Belichick did not coach a very good game IMO; he failed to take away the one thing the opponent does well, which has been his trademark over the years, the Iggles shredded them with that RPO offense. Also, on the trick play, the defense looked confused, he should have called a time out there, guaranteed the Iggles would not have tried to run that play again. And benching Butler for a series or a quarter to send a message is one thing, but to bench him for the whole game when he was in on 98% of the defensive snaps all year AND when his replacement was horrendous and then his replacement sucked worse, it's inexcusable not to have gone to Butler at some point.

He's a great coach, first ballot HOF for sure, but hey, everyone has a bad day now and again, even him.

The Eagles played as if they had nothing to lose. No one expected them to win (especially me) therefore going for it on 4th down was also simply a matter of "oh well, why not?" If they did not convert then we all would have said good try and been done with it.

And you are spot on about Belichick.

Agreed; nothing to lose, playing with house money, let's push our chips to the center of the table and go all in.

Ok, I have to admit when I am wrong and breaking news out of Foxboro has shined a new light on this.

Belichick and Patricia came up with Rowe on the outside as he's big and physical, they wanted to put Butler in the slot, but he struggled all week long with the assignment, so they decided to bench him and try a different package with Chung in the slot and instead of single high safety, they brought in a third safety and went with that package.

I guess my only gripe is when that did not work, they should have switched things up and put Butler in there and seen what happened.

But they didn't, so that's that............................

Why do fans riot after a win? See https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...m_term=.6cef1bce51aa&wpisrc=nl_rainbow&wpmm=1

Oddly, they don’t riot when their team loses.

good read Brad...

this quote from the article sums it up pretty well in my opinion...

"So where does the urge for violence come from?
Most agree the mob mentality has a lot to do with it.
In study after study, psychologists have shown people often behave differently in big crowds."

add alcohol to the mob mentality...and presto...you got a riot...

that article surprised me...
I had no heard about the windows smashed and cars flipped...
I originally thought it was pretty peaceful...

McDaniels is the new Colts HC.

Yeah, not so fast, he's informed the Dolts that he's not taking the job and will be staying on as the OC of the NEP.

Great news, this is a man who had an outstanding offensive game plan in the Super Bowl that shredded a top three defense.

Our DC, whos game plan was a total tire fire, is on his way to Detroit.

I'd call that a total win/win for the Patriots.

You guys can have him. Here’s a guy who was a failure as a HC, then accepts the job as HC of the Colts and then backs out (apparently after Kraft sweetened the contract).

Aw gee, I feel bad for the Irsay family; must suck to have someone promise one thing and then go somewhere else without warning.................

This has nothing to do with the Irsays but a failure to follow through on the promises and commitments you make. Like I said, you can have him. I wouldn’t want a person like that in my organization.

If I ordered $1,000 in product from you and then backed and said, sorry, changed my mind, would that be right? No, or maybe I’m just old fashioned.

I knew Al would get that reference; pretty sure the Irsays came to this country on the Mayflower, their favorite mode of transportation..............:wink2:

Apparently, McDaniel started to select a staff and the Colts hired some. The Colts said they will keep them. At least they're showing a vestige of class.

I also read that Butler said on Instagram he did nothing wrong, broke no rules, what have you and so forth. Brady supported him, if you consider liking an Instagram support.

Things seem a little rocky right now in Beantown.

We need some entertainment in the barren winter of sports between the SB and Opening Day ^&grin (no offense to basketball fans or hockey fans; in NY it's a disaster).

George, you're killing me.^&grin^&grin Mayflower moving vans and the Irsays...such fond memories. Hopefully, Irsay is roasting on a spit in a very hot locale. -- Al

Brady liked the comment where he thanked the Krafts and the fans for his time here.

Butler was sick all week, sucked in practice and they wanted him to play slot corner and he was brutal at that, so they put Rowe on the outside, brought Chung down to cover the slot and brought Harmon and Richards in as the third safety.

Basically, they dared Nick Montana to throw the ball, they did not want he Iggles running the ball and chewing up the clock; think of it as the reverse game plan vs the Bills that the Giants rolled out.

Needless to say, it did not work as Nick Marino lit up the Patriots defense, specifically on third down.

Again, their coach gambled twice on fourth down and made it both times, he knew his defense was a tire fire too and did not want to give the ball back to Brady.

So there you have it; anytime you have any questions about the goings on here in titletown, let me know first before you go and assume there are problems here.

Give Belichick, their new DC and the draft time to fix what ails them on the defensive side of the ball and they'll be fine.

When Belichick retires in a year or two, he's the next guy.

That's why they sweetened the deal on his current contract.

I figured as much...
not that Belichick would retire so early...
but McDaniels was promised next man up...
along with a wad of cash in the meantime...
it's the smart move for NE...
