NHL Playoffs (1 Viewer)

Speaking of sweaters. I agree with George the origional Pens, light blue and the Kings purple were fantastic. Another reason I want the Oilers to win is their current home jersey is my favorite.

Fleury will be mumbling glove side high, glove side high, glove side high for a few days after that train wreck tonight.....................just an awful performance................momentum in sports is a funny thing, I've seen this movie before, maybe the Capitals can channel the 2004 Red Sox and finally rid themselves of the Penguin curse....................and I love Doc Emrick, but his comment tonight about the Penguins in their traditional gold and black uniforms?

What?

Sorry Doc, they stole those colors from the Bruins in the 70's to try to channel the Pirates WS and Steelers SB successes while wearing those colors, the "traditional" Penguins colors are teal and black, not gold and black.

The Penguins should go back to those colors as that sweater is iconic; I saw some wrecking ball wearing a throwback Malkin sweater at a restaurant in Gettysburg while I was there for the show last month, I was going to comment on how nice the sweater looked but I was afraid he'd eat me..............................

Yup, the Pens should go back to the colors they had when Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. owned the team.

Although I am partial to the Sharks, I have to admit there is nothing like any of the original six jerseys. Those are the best as far as I am concerned.

GD IT!!!!!! I knew it, the PENS are screwing up. Game 7, never a good spot to be on the road after blowing 3-1 lead. We shall see, but I think the Caps look pretty darn good right now. It is going to take Hercules to stop their momentum.

Not intending to hijack this thread, but yes, the original 6 sweaters are all very good, I like the Black Hawks #1 and the Maple Leafs #2 , but they are all excellent.

Some of the newer ones are just plain awful............................ok, back to game 6 tonight and the two game 7's tomorrow night...................

Game 7's are fun to watch as long as your team is not in it. Went thru two game 7's last year. The anticipation is fun but once the game starts it is nervous city.
It's amazing what hockey players play thru. Now that the Blues are out we learn Steen played with a broken foot, Tarasenko is going to have some undisclosed surgery, how many others? Kinda like baseball players, yea right!

The Pens took a spanking last night but the Caps have outplayed them most of the series even in the games they lost. Fleury was the difference in the early games. He is now reverting to his old "Marc-Andre" status. I never wanted to blowout a team though and then have to play them again. It seems like the recipient of a beat down usually rebounds with a win. If so the Pens and Ducks are in good shape for game 7. If the Caps choke this one away at home they go down as the worst team in playoff history.

The Danger Ottawa has is that they get to rest. The Opportunity Ottawa has is that they get to rest... before the next series starts.

It would be a bold move but if I'm the Pens I pull Fleury tonight and go with Murray in goal. I get the feeling the Caps have figured out Fleury and he has used up his quota of miraculous saves.

Guys...I am amazed at the "LACK OF GOAL SCORING" in NHL games in the modern era...... The days of beautiful passing to set up goals are a thing of the past.1985-1998.....Deflections and garbage goals in front of the net are too many.....And many shots are blocked by defenders and never even reach the goalie .....I think that the goal net needs to be larger at least 6" wider and taller by 8".....The ice surface should be longer and wider to create more open ice for great passing and skating....i am watching the playoffs less then prior years and I am amazed at how the game has changed.....These days it's defensive hockey that is emphasized and low scoring games are all too often the norm....IMHO.something needs to be done.....Goalies are huge and so are the goalie pads, catching glove and blocker....The NHL needs to.start by making the net LARGER.....

Shhh...:wink2: -- Al

2 Game Sevens in 2 different time zones which means I can watch both games? It doesn't get much better than that!!!!!!

And as if often the case in sports, after crapping himself in game 6, Fleury is in a zone tonight, standing on his head all night long, Sid the Kid and Fatso Phil are up two zip with about 15 minutes to go in the third period.

Man oh man are the Capitals cursed.............................

Fleury truly magnificent. Pens looked like the Stanley Cup team from last year, when they needed stellar play, they got it. I feel lucky and thankful to be moving on! LETS GO PENS (Sorry Al!)

It took a little longer but the annual Caps El Choko is once again complete. As I said before, the El Choko is as certain as death and taxes in the DC Metro area. I just can't get worked up enough to care.:rolleyes2: -- Al

It's hard to fathom that none of the Ovi Capital teams have gotten to the conference finals, but it is what it is.

And he was a -2 tonight, on the ice for both LET'S GO PENS!! goals, including that joke of a back breaker, a backhanded fluttering duck that somehow found the back of the net.

The DC area is a black hole for sports; the Redskins and their buffoonery, the Expos, the Capitals and the Wizzards, who for all of their running their mouths towards the Celtics the past few days, got smoked tonight in game 5.

Who's that big goofy white guy with the shaved head, he's got a pair calling any of the Celtics dirty, what a cheap shot artist he is under the basket, the big cement head that he is.

The Wizzards should move back to Baltimore and take back the Bullets name; if there is a more appropriate name for a team from Baltimore, it's the Bullets.

They should be called the Baltimore Assault Rifles...........................................

George, it's always been a great source of amusement to me that the DC basketball team is nicknamed Wizards. If you take a long look at their logo, the Wizard and his arms form a sort of swastika, and we all know what organization has Wizards in it's ranks. I can't believe in this day of PC, that this particular/peculiar combination of logo and name hasn't come under scrutiny and been attacked like the Redskins symbol has been. It has the potential to be a lot more offensive if people ever realize what it appears to be. :rolleyes2: -- Al

The Caps played so tight I thought Ovechkin's head was going to explode. They should deal him to some team out west while he still has trade value. The Ovi Caps are clearly not a Cup contender no matter how well they play in the regular season. They have been given enough opportunities. And he is not getting any younger. Time to spend the remainder of his career scoring meaningless goals for Arizona. I would throw in Shattenkirk for free. That guy really stinks. To think they played up the Caps getting him like they had traded for Wayne Gretzky is laughable now. St. Louis actually improved after they unloaded him. It is also frustrating that the top two NHL teams meet in the second round while Ottawa gets the NY Rangers. The NHL playoff format is bizarre. But onward. I'm pulling for Nashville now. If they play the Pens in the finals, it will be difficult to tell who is who on the ice.

It is ironic isn't it? Especially after the hubbub of the Bullets! Seriously, you just have to wonder at some people. I am still ultimately miffed over the Ole Miss Rebels, look at that one. They swapped out Colonel Reb for a "Black Bear" which is quite goofy and offensive if you think about it. It is just incredible. And look at the evolution of the Tennessee Volunteer, just boggles the mind. He now looks like a backwoods Davy Crockett.
