Tough home losses by Pens and Preds with a chance to close out those series. You can't let those opportunities pass. Now they have to go on the road and get wins or go to game seven. I'm really surprised at how the Preds have struggled to put away Colorado.

You forgot to mention Smoltzie and the Capitals have evened up their series with Columbus 2-2; just what the world needs, a red hot Smoltzie.

Bruins have a shot to close out the Maple Laughs tonight, they should have closed them out already if not for the 900 outstanding chances they had in game 3 where they couldn't put the puck in the ocean, will see how it shakes out, I'll be in my usual seat 10 rows behind the goulie with MT by my side.....................

Pens blew that one and the Caps win again in OT, just great. I hope the Pens come through on Sunday and get to the next round.

Put the Bruins in the same boat.

Played like crap for a period and a half, fell behind 4-1, stormed back to make it 4-3 and lost.

90, that's right, NINETY shots, 46 of them were on goal, the rest whistled wide or were blocked to 39 for the Maple Laughs, a whopping 18 of them were on goal and they scored four times.

Four goals on 18 shots, pathetic performance by Rask.

Anderson just parks his *** in the middle of the crease and hopes the puck hits him, the big ginger haired oaf that he is; how about a @#$%king screen in front of him instead of clear shooting lanes.

Watch this tomato can stand on his head now and steal the series for the Maple Laughs.

Infuriating.

I hope the Bruins and Pens get wins in their next games. The longer these series go the tougher it is in the next round.

The storming back in the 2nd half of the game and all those shots were partly due to 6 Leaf penalties including a 2 man disadvantage vs only one penalty to Boston. It's not Andersens fault the puck "hit" him so many times - but there were also several good saves. Andersen got the first star.

Which goal were you sitting behind in the 3rd period? ^&grin

It was probably the best playoff game that I have seen so far this year.

If I was Toronto I would feel lucky that I got the win while if I was Boston I would feel pretty confident going into the next game.

The 2 broken stick calls were a joke. Way too many calls. Leafs D needs to wake up a bit.

You commit a penalty, you sit in the box, pretty simple concept. You slash a guy and break his stick, you sit, you trip a guy, you sit, you throw a player to the ice, you sit.

And you're right about Andersen; the Bruins have this knack of firing the puck right at the emblem on the opposing goalies sweater, they had numerous chances to score and their shot selection was pitiful, vs the Laughs who had a whopping 17 shots at one point along with 4 goals.

And speaking of goalies, what is this goalie style I see more and more of them use where they hug the ice, Rask does it all the time, he got burned twice last night, top shelf goals; gee, as a goalie, I was taught to stay on your skates, when your sprawled on the ice you're dead meat.

We were behind Andersen in the 1st and 3rd periods, ten rows up, great seats, have a funny feeling we'll be there for a game 7 too, I predict Toronto comes out flying at home and runs the Bruins out of the building to force a game 7.

IMO Toronto is the better team, they use that stretch pass continually and the Bruins have no answers, they are faster and better skilled, the Bruins 1st and 4th lines played good last night, their 2nd and 3rd lines were hot garbage and man oh man does Rick Nash suck, what a ****ty trade that was, figured he'd suck being an ex Ranger, he can't put the puck in the ocean, a whopping 1 goal in this series so far, most of his shots whistle wide of the net.

Following the Blues in the Western Conference I don't pay a lot of attention to the Eastern Conference. But watching last nights game it struck me every time a Boston players name was mentioned I thought he is a star player. I think some are getting up there in age but this is a star studded team. As for Toronto I kept hearing Polak, geez he was a Blues defenseman so many years ago I can hardly remember. From an outsiders point of view Boston shouldn't worry. In fact I think it will be Boston & Nashville in the finals.

The Bruins were flying in that third period. They won the game in every respect except the scoreboard. Like the Pens they seem to have that extra level they can go to when they need it. But too little too late. Winning on the road is a tough nut and the Pens, Preds, and Bruins now have to make the extra trip and maybe face a game seven. The Caps played another OT game. That series is like Groundhog Day. The Caps get a lead, give it up, get another lead, give it up, the game goes to OT and then someone gets a lucky goal.

Winning a game 6 on the road is next to impossible; you go home up 3-1, all you need to do is take care of business and you move on, but nope, you lose and now you have to pack a bag and get on a plane and go back to wherever to play a game with the home team flying high.

I'd be shocked if they all did not end up with game 7's.

With the Bruins, it was indeed too little, too late, they sleepwalked through the first period and a half, their defense sucked, how many times is Toronto going get behind the Bruins defense and throw the puck into the net behind a defenseless goalie, it's nauseating, stay in your lanes and FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST stop letting players get behind you, pinch them up against the boards if you have to and risk an interference penalty, it beats the alternative.

Imagine 6-1 advantage in the PP and you lose, pitiful.

Flopping started coming into fashion almost 20 years ago and virtually every NHL goalie has that style today. And with good reason. Goalies are much bigger, equipment is much bigger and lighter and goalies are in better condition and stamina so they can go down and get up. 15 years ago it was hard to find a goalie at 6 ft. Most were 5-8 to 5-10. Today most goalies are 6-1 to 6-4. When a modern goalie parks his *** on the goal line in a butterfly he covers the entire goal except for the two top corners as you observed yourself (Anderson just parks his *** in the middle of the crease and hopes the puck hits him, the big ginger haired oaf that he is.) That means he doesn't have to come out to cut down the shooter's angle like when he is standing. Thatmeans the goalie doesn't have to move - he is usually in position and can make saves as the puck has to come to him. It's harder to make a stop while standing and moving to cut the angle. Flopping covers the two bottom corners and virtually eliminates the dreaded five hole. By not having to move he can control rebounds better and the modern equipment reduces the number of rebounds and deadens the few rebounds that do happen so they drop at his butterfly pads instead of rebounding ten - 15 ft. out to an opposing forward. That doessn't even leave a top shelf - just two top corners to shoot at so that is why a greater proportion of goals are top corner today than in the past.

Right, it's easier to stop a shot when you're sprawled on the ice wearing two mattresses for goalie pads.

That said, did you see Toronto's 4th goal; puck comes out from behind the net, Rask is down defenseless, the shooter had him dead to rights, just rifled the puck top shelf, goal.

If he's standing up there, the shooter has no where to shoot the puck.

It's idiotic and it needs to stop.

It's only a matter of time until they find a 7 footer with goalie skills and he will play the entire game on his knees {sm2}

ok, I get to say it after one series - LETS GO PENS. Happy to advance, let's see what the next series brings. Although at least I can gloat that we sent Philly home, enough of that nonsense.

The final four in the West is strange. The remaining teams are all part of post 1990 expansion. The Sharks are the oldest (1991), the Predators are next (1998), followed by the Jets (2011) and the Golden Knights (2017).

It seems weird to not have the Blackhawks, Blues etc. mixed in.

Weird series. The Pens were 3-0 on the road and 1-2 at home. They scored seven goals or more in three games. They did get the typical officiating calls when the refs blew that blatant tripping penalty in the third period that would have given the Flyers a power play down one goal. Instead it leads to a turnover and goal and then on the faceoff another goal. Series over. It reminded me of the calls the Pens got in the finals last year. Interesting to see if the Caps can close out and give the Pens a run this year. They haven't impressed me against the Blue Jackets though.

Gee that's weird, the LET'S GO PENS!! never get any gift calls to my knowledge.

Great defense the Flyers showed in this series, letting Crosby park his *** by the side of the net and throw a rebound into an empty net for example, just pitiful.

Glad they are out; classy fans too throwing full cans of beer onto the ice after the loss.

What Neanderthals they are and to think they have a NFL Championship now; gee, such deserving folks.........................:rolleyes2:

I didn't even know they still sold cans at these events. It seems dangerous to load up the drunks with projectiles like that. Particularly in Philly. The non-call was awful though. It led to two goals by the Pens and ended the series instead of putting the Flyers on the power play with a chance to even the game. They weren't going to win this series though. I think they gave up 27 goals in the four games that they lost. Ridiculous. Those aren't the Flyers that I remember. They would have targeted Crosby and tried to get into his head. Instead he was skating around like a performance of Disney on Ice.
