NHL Playoffs (2 Viewers)

Gee that's weird, the LET'S GO PENS!! never get any gift calls to my knowledge.

Great defense the Flyers showed in this series, letting Crosby park his *** by the side of the net and throw a rebound into an empty net for example, just pitiful.

Glad they are out; classy fans too throwing full cans of beer onto the ice after the loss.

What Neanderthals they are and to think they have a NFL Championship now; gee, such deserving folks.........................:rolleyes2:

See you should thank us George for getting rid of the Phillyhangover! In all seriousness, the breaks flew the Pens way in this one, but I am just happy they advanced and especially over Philly. That is the sweetest part of it.

As to the Caps/Columbus, who knows. Hockey at this time of year still has a lot of luck to it and the way the "puck bounces" so to speak. And the longevity of the season, it is almost a war of attrition.

So Boston-Toronto is going seven. Toronto is always a difficult place to win under normal circumstance but with the whole city bonding after the terrorist attack the Leafs played a great game. Anderson stood on his head as George predicted. I can't see the Bruins losing three in a row though including two at home. It doesn't bode too well for the next series. Some of these teams like Vegas and San Jose haven't played a game in a long, long time. It's hard to know whether the time off means they come back rusty or rested. The Caps took care of business after going down 0-2 in their series. Should be a grudge match with the Pens who they owe big time. Looking forward to Winnipeg and Nashville with their home crowds and fast paced game.

Crosby will take care of business. Got a feeling the Leafs will win, hopefully. But obviously could go either way & they have last change.

The Bruins are toast, finished, stick a fork in them.

They ran the Maple Laughs out of the building in the first two games, Andersen looked terrible, so bad he got yanked.

Then Toronto switched up their lines and the Bruins have had no answers since, getting smoked 3-1 in the process.

Hockey can be an infuriating game to watch, last night was prime example #1, Bruins played great in the first period, got the first goal, then 35 seconds later Toronto scores a cheapie and it's 1-1, game basically over at that point.

And if Andersen makes ONE MORE SAVE where he's looking behind himself total clueless to where the puck is, I am going to blow a gasket.

He's something else to say the least.

And it's sour grapes for sure, but the NHL playoff format is a broken toilet of a system, Boston and Toronto are arguably the top 4 and 5 teams in the league and they play each other in the first round, then if the Bruins somehow advance, they play the 3rd best team in the second round.

It's idiotic, moronic and stupid on so many levels I lost count.

Just line them up 1-8 by conference and let them have at it.

Tomorrow night the crowd will be all fired up, they'll come out flying, pepper Andersen with shot after shot that will find his glove, mask, inside of his leg, goalie stick paddle, knob of his stick, emblem on his sweater, or more probably the post and crossbar, the Leafs will roar down the ice on a 2 on 1 and score, the air will get sucked out of the building and the route will be on.

Just don't let Toronto get up 4-1 on the Bruins like they did a few years ago..............................

The Bruins are done.

Agree should be 1 plays 8 etc. They always think they are changing things for the better. If Leafs win they play Saturday night obv. If Boston win sat afternoon lol.

On a side note Toronto did a great job of giving their city something to cheer about following the tragic events earlier in the day. Hats off to the Bruins and their players and coaches as well. It is no doubt difficult to play a game when something like that happens, whether you are the home team or the visitors.

I would rank the Bruins chances as about 70-30. The law of averages are on their side. How many times this year did they lose three in a row including a couple at home? Not likely to happen. The home crowd will be rocking. I think Toronto left most of their game out there last night expending a lot of emotion and effort. Bruins win 5-2.

Hockey is a game of momentum, the Bruins have had buzzards luck three of the last four games including two in a row, they are trending the wrong way................

Andersen couldn't have stopped a beach ball last night if he were covered in molasses. He looked awful like he had been drugged by Bill Cosby. Rask didn't look much better. The goalie play was atrocious.

Onward to the predictions:

Washington 4 Pittsburgh 3 - not all that impressed with either team in the first round. The Caps seemed to have settled down and found their groove. Never underestimate their ability to choke but the law of averages says they have to eventually beat the Pens.

Tampa 4 Boston 2 - Tampa is a better regular season than playoff team but the Bruins look shaky. Tampa is also rested. They win the first game against a tired Boston team and hold on.

Vegas 4 San Jose 2 - Both teams haven't played in so long it's almost like a new season. The Shark have the playoff experience to win this one but Vegas is tough at home. Home ice is the difference.

Nashville 4 Winnipeg 2 - Should be the most fun series to watch with the great home crowds and lots of scoring. Home ice again is the difference.

Smotlzie and the Capitals blow a 2-0 third period lead and lose to the LET'S GO PENS!!.....................my God what a cursed franchise, they should just nuke them from orbit.................it took them one game to cough up home ice, GJGE.........................

And the Pens won without Malkin..................LETS GO PENS. Now, I will get really excited if we can go up 2-0 :p:tongue: Crosby is just **** good.

The Sharks got destroyed by Vegas, 7-0. Even if they could have figured Fleury out there was no way the Sharks were going to score 8 goals.

Not a good start.

With the way Fleury is playing, would like to have him back..................

I bet. Fleury has now given up three goals in five playoff games including one that went to double OT. He can't possibly sustain that much longer. The Pens seem in good shape, though, if the Caps continue their choking routine. Unbelievable collapse last night.

To you Penquins fans. Does that guy still broadcast Pens games? The one who has those funny remarks on goals, Like "clear the highway grandma's going to bingo" I love that guy.

Well I know I'm getting old and this will sound like a get off my lawn moment, but the NHL playoffs aren't the same without the Blues, Blackhawks, Red Wings, Canadians and Rangers in the mix................sorry, the Penguins with Sid the Kid, Fatso Phil and that movie star Malkin along with the Capitals and Smoltzie are unlikeable, as are Tampa with their yahoo fans, but the West holds zero interest for me..................I need the Blackhawks or Blues in there, who cares about Loseapeg, Nashville and especially Las Vegas; good Lord both of their uniforms are horrific, not to mention the yahoos who follow them..........really; an expansion team going to the conference finals, how does that happen? I suppose San Jose with Thornton, this will maybe be his last kick at the can (actually, is he still even on the team, I don't know to be honest)...........they got murdered the other night, if it was a fight they would have stopped it...................................

Goerge:

Thornton is out with an injury. He might return during the Vegas series and it seems like they could use his leadership.

He is one of my favorite players and one of the most popular athletes in the Bay Area, not just for his skills on the ice but for his community involvement off of it.

Crosby is playing great, I won't be surprised if they make it to the final again. Love jumbo joe, I would like to see him lift the cup, yep he is out at the mo. He will still play next yr.

The story of the 2017-18 NHL season is clearly about the emergence of it's 31st franchise: the Vegas Golden Knights. Knowledgeable hockey fans can appreciate billionaire Bill Foley, a graduate of West Point (made his fortune at Fidelity National) who put up $400 million of the $500 million franchise fee (the other $100 million was put up by former NBA Sacramento Kings owner's brothers Joe and Gavin Maloof) who assembled this remarkable staff of GM George McPhee who took the Washington Cap's to the NHL Stanley Cup Finals in 1997-1998 only to get bludgeoned by the Red Wings. His claim to fame after that was confronting Chicago coach Loren Molleken over perceived dirty play and punching him out only to get jumped by some retaliating Blackhawks players who ripped his suit up. In turn NHL commissioner, Gary Bettman, suspended McPhee for twenty games without pay. He did lead the Caps to about eight southeast division titles over the next sixteen years but the Caps also earned a well deserved label of being an excellent regular season team but perennial chokers come playoff time. McPhee brought in well regarded Canadian hockey scout Kelly McCrimmon (a real genius who will soon get hired as an NHL GM) and then hired former Red Wing Gerard Gallant to coach the team. Gallant was fired mid season last year by Florida Panthers owner Vincent Viola on a road trip in Raleigh NC and was told to find his own way home: a brainless move (witness him leaving VGK frontline stars: Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith unprotected in the entry draft and then seeing the Panthers not making the playoffs. Thanks Vinnny!) by another West Point graduate as he was targeted immediately as a coach who understood NHL hockey in the modern era: play four capable lines built around excellent goaltending and fast, mobile puck clearing defensemen. All the other nonsense about uniforms, fans etc is simply blather as the the horrible October 1 shootings put the team on edge entering the season. They have responded as a team: unselfish, incredibly appreciative, humble, resilient and down right exciting. The story will have an ending. Not sure when. So far they are 5-0 in the playoffs and the Sharks play game 2 tonight without one of their better weapons Evander Kane who lost his cool Thursday in the Golden Knights 7-0 blowout and now must sit a game for his cross checking Pierre Eduard Bellemare who has emerged as this non descript yet effective fourth line centerman. The other teams remaining are all excellent: Bruins playing a terrific Lightning squad assembled by Red Wing Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman, the two time defending champion Penguins playing the underachieving chokers: Washington Caps and the splendid Winnipeg Jets with their incredible home ice advantage vs last years finalists the Nashville Predators and their fantastic back line. Enjoy the outcome.
