NHL Playoffs (1 Viewer)

Congrats to Vegas on their series win over San Jose. The Sharks lost because the Golden Knights are the better team.

I really hope I don't have to make a post similar to this for the Penguins, but I have it saved as a draft.............................Saturday night's game was a missed opportunity.

Imagine the ratings bonanza if it's the Devil Rays vs the LVGK in the finals, PBS will clobber NBC in the ratings...........................I won't watch one second of it, but I will watch the LVGK victory parade through downtown Las Vegas if they win it, the strippers and hookers in the crowd will be worth tuning in for..............actually, give them their own float in the parade, I'll volunteer as the driver.

Adios Bruins, they lost to the Devil Rays today 3-1 and the series 4-1.

Not much you can do when you have to beat both the Devil Rays and the Refs, they were piss poor all series long, today took the cake; a penalty was called on a Devil Ray as he hauled Marchand down, then a penalty was called on Marchand for unsportmanlike conduct, guess he fell the wrong way when he was dragged down and the official did not like it.

What a farce.

Would be great to see two hockey blue bloods like the Devil Rays and the LVGK meet in the finals, two tradition rich, long standing franchises with rabid, knowledgeable fan bases like that would be a treat to watch play.

I'm done with playoff hockey; when it resembles the WWE thanks to the brutally pathetic officials, it's time to find something else to do, that double penalty today was the clincher for me, I shut it off after that one, enough is enough.

I didn't see much of this series as I'm starting to have hockey burn out, but was surprised yesterday at how Tampa appeared to be the much more physical team. They were carrying Bruins off the ice left and right and even that giant Chara was getting bullied by guys the size of mini me standing next to him. When Backes got blown up he looked like Wile E. Coyote after he hit the side of cliff while wearing a jet pack. Not a pretty sight. I always thought of Tampa as a finesse team. And what was with Marchand licking people? That is beyond weird. In old school days, if he had done something like that he would have gotten his tongue ripped off and thrown into the crowd. At least the Celts are doing well.

The stereotypes that some post about Las Vegas are beyond comprehension. I have lived here fifty years and it never ceases to amaze me how a city that is incredibly advanced culturally and socially has to have outsiders brand us as something less than what they are. A good portion of VGK fans are transplanted US eastern and midwestern residents. Our knowledge of sports is unsurpassed. In fact unlike the rest of America that is not allowed to legally wager on sports we actually can. Hence why we strive to learn and understand the various games that we wager on. Imagine that: We have laws on the books that do not artificially treat social issues as criminal issues and laws that don't treat it's citizens as nine year olds. As for that "Moneyball" blather for the record Billy Beane of the Oakland A's never won one playoff series. To compare VGK to the A's who play in a facility where the toilets routinely back up is absurd. Finally a team can't build tradition unless it is awarded a franchise. Vegas has one and the results in one year are terrific. I look forward to taking on the establishment. One other point: There are only two types of men in this world in my view: Winners and Whiners. You can win and lose with grace and class or you can blame others like the refs for your failures. That is the definition of a sniveler.

There's no "some" here, it's me, so stop being coy.

Let me give you a little tip.

There are a bunch of us who post in the sports topics; myself, Tom, Al, Sammy, Brad, Louis, Doug, Jason, Mike Miller, I've met everyone of them in person or talked to them via phone and email conversations, a great bunch of guys. We bust each others chops about sports, also known as the toy box of life, it's nothing personal, no harm, no foul, no offense given, none taken.

Now you come along as the white knight and the defender of truth, justice and life in Las Vegas, all indignant with your bowels in an uproar because I dumped on your city and your team.

Gee, sorry to offend the great state of Nevada and all it's knowledgeable sports fans; your state has a grand total of one ****ing professional team, soon to be two after you stole the Raiders from California, good effort, good job. The Raiders are perfect for Vegas; they, like your city, are a broken toilet.

Everyone who is in Vegas is not from Vegas, the vast majority of people who go there to live are just passing through, good for you that you moved there 50 years ago and you proudly call Vegas your home, we're all thrilled for you.

Nice job of doubling down and insulting my manhood; any knowledgeable hockey fan knows the officiating in the Bruins/Tampa series was a disgrace, an embarrassment to the sport, the commentators on MSNBC made several references as to how bad it was.

The ****show of officiating aside, the Bruins did not play well aside from the first game, they played well in game 4 and lost in overtime, Tampa was the best team in the East all year long, they have a very good defense that keeps teams on the perimeter and away from the middle of the attacking zone, the Bruins scored a whopping one goal at even strength all series long, so they lost, fair and square.

I'm a sniveler according to you; tell you what, stay in your lane and slow your roll with me, this isn't the first time you and I have crossed swords on this forum.

But it's going to be the last.

After San Jose beat Vegas in Game 2 of their series you wrote the following (Post #129 of this thread):

"Let's just say that the Sharks handed Vegas its first ever playoff loss with some extraordinary help from Referee Kelly Sutherland and the keystone cops who man the controls at the NHL "situation room" in Toronto. Jonathan Marchessault's goal in the first overtime was emphatically a goal but ultimately waived off for goaltender interference. I watched the play seven times and its beyond comprehension that no one: Ed Olcykz, Joe Miceletti etc could explain why San Jose's Brenden Dillion had no role in steering Marchessault to clip San Jose goalie Martin Jones on that play prior to Marchessault spinning, securing the puck and poking in the shot. Beyond livid but a lifelong hockey fan. Life goes on but I'm jaded we got jobbed by those putzes."

So when you blame the refs it is ok but when George does it you call him a sniveler?

All year long I kept waiting for Las Vegas to come back to earth. I am now a believer. They are good plus I love Fluery. Perron was one of my favorites in his two tours with the Blues. So I am now officially wanting them to win it all. But to the Vegas fans, and this comes from experiance. The Blues made it to the finals there first three years, yes it was watered down then, but now 50 ,plus years later it has not happened again. Enjoy this because it could be a long time before this happens again.

There is more action here than in the games. The NHL officials in "Toronto" are reviewing this thread and may issue suspensions for playing too rough. They don't like that anymore. Someone's feelings may get hurt. And no licking anyone's face.

GD it. Well, that is that. I can't complain, the Pens had a heckuva run for the last 3 years but and I am the first one to say it, we ran out of gas and the Caps looked much hungrier these last two games and that is why they won it. They deserved it. We didn't have enough to get it done, we needed to get to Game 7 and we came up short. The crowd was "in position" but the players were not.

Still hate losing!

The Pens had a great run. It is almost impossible to win three Cups in a row. Holtby played great. Except for Crosby none of the big guns on the Pens could get on the score sheet. Ovechkin made some clutch plays. I think he had a game winning goal and two game winning assists late in games. Most importantly the Caps didn't play scared in tight games. They looked like the hunter rather than the hunted this year. With the Preds winning and going home, I could be a Nostradamus like 11-1 with the series picks if they win. Maybe George and I will go to Vegas and participate in that parade with my fantasy winnings.

Sounds great; I'll buy a pair of white shoes, a fanny pack, a straw hat and a walker for the both of us so that we'll blend...........................

Should be an interesting game seven tonight. Nashville was almost unbeatable at home in the regular season but they are 1-2 in this series and 3-3 in the playoffs. Having more luck on the road. Winnipeg can't buy a goal some nights and other nights they light it up. Whoever wins then has their hands full with Vegas. Covered wagons west.

I'll be watching because nothing beats a game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Game is Thursday 8pm

Finally. For some reason I thought they were playing last night. Must have took the covered wagons some extra time to get back. I'm pulling for the Preds. They got close last year. They haven't shown much so far at home but the Jets are a better team than most realize. I think they finished only a couple points behind the Preds this year as the top team.

I'm pulling for Loseipeg, they are Canada's last hope and it is their game afterall, plus their fans are batshit crazy for that team.................not to mention I can't stand Subban, he's on the perfect team with that home yellow sweater, the hot dog that he is.

If Nashville loses, the rioting and the overturning and burning of covered wagons will be epic.

There was a Justin Timberlake concert last night so the game had to be played tonight.
