Winnipeg looked like they had eight guys on the ice last night. They out hustled the Preds for every puck in those first couple of periods. Every loose puck ended up on their stick. Not in a million years would I have predicted that the home team in this series would lose 5 of 7. Onward. I'm picking Tampa over the Caps (although I hope I'm wrong). Vegas and Winnipeg is a pick'em series. Vegas has the better goal tender but the Jets looked like world beaters (at least every other game). Taking the Jets in seven.
I am pulling for Vegas b/c of Fleury. He is a tender on a mission thus far!
Holy Crap - The Crapitals are kicking butt, call me a believer right now! Still don't like the coach or Wilson. Did anyone see the "kill shot" he went for? The Lightning guy ducked, but he did it again - he launched and it was going to be a head shot - that guy needs to go PERIOD. Out of control. I just can't stand that type of play, it is dirty.
Again, call me a Capital believer right now, they look sharp.
TD
The Bruins blitzkrieged the Devil Rays in game one also, 6-2 and didn't win a game after that, so the Capitals need to come out in the next game and keep up the pressure and go home up 2-0.

Total domination by Washington tonight. So far in this series, at even strength it's not even a contest, Washington has dominated the Devil Rays.
With their playoff history, this is far from over, but all they really need to do is win one of the next two at home. Tampa is capable of winning two in Washington as they showed vs the Bruins, but Washington looks like a team on a mission and they are playing circles around how the Bruins played vs the Devil Rays.
Getting over that LET'S GO PENS! hump was huge for them.

The Caps started looking loose and confident after they came back from 0-2 against the mighty Blue Jackets. I thought there might be a mental letdown after the Pens series but they are on track. The Caps brought up a lot of young guys this season who haven't experienced the culture of choking in the playoffs and those guys have been money. They are now 7-1 on the road in the playoffs. But like you said, it is never over until it is over with the Caps. They have blown more 3-1 and 3-2 leads in the playoffs than I think any other sports franchise.
I'm pulling for them all the way, I want to see Ovechkin get his SC championship, love that guy, his shot is a missile on ice.
One of the local hockey reporters was on the radio this morning discussing the LVGK and their success and suggested people pump the brakes bit; he made a great point, they got a much wider net to cast from as far as talent thanks to that 500 million dollar franchise fee and he said it was by design, the league does not want to see an expansion team tank, he said the same will be the case when it's Seattle's turn, their fee will be 650 million and they'll be able to pick from an even wider group of players.
Gone are the days when an expansion team got to pick from a bunch of washed up tomato cans.
There are enough teams in the league who are in trouble financially to begin with...............
Yes, it is not often that an expansion team gets a three-time cup winner in goal who is still in good form. Vegas was able to put together a solid team with good coaching instead of a bunch of has beens in a league-wide dump like in the past. Expansion drafts used to remind me of Fidel Castro's move when Carter asked him to release his political prisoners and he used it as an opportunity to send all his hardened criminals and mental cases to the US. Winnipeg has really impressed me so far. Not the greatest goal tending but outstanding team speed and depth. They swarmed Nashville like angry bees whenever they needed to turn it up. I've never heard of 99 percent of the players on the Jets but #33 and 55 seem to score a goal in every game.
Might be time to stock up on that sun tan lotion for the victory parade down the Strip. It will probably be 120 in the shade once they start the finals. Hopefully the ice doesn't melt in the arena. Would be a shame to see Blue Man Group drown. Big game for the Caps. They don't want to go back to Tampa at 2-2.
Just when I thought I'd seen it all as far a the Capitals go, they take it up a notch; to lose a game like this and squander a 2-0 advantage you built on away ice.
Ever more creative and frustrating ways to lose.
Been going on there since the 1980s, I'd lose my mind if I was a fan of that team.
Granted the goalie stole that game tonight, the Devil Rays had zero right to win that game, but this is how hockey goes, you get a hot goalie and you're toast.
The Capitals are 7-1 in the playoffs on the road, but all they really needed to do here is win one of two.
At home.
Now it's 2-2 heading back to that hockey hotbed down in Tampa.
The mind reels.

Quite the squander of an opportunity! I am shocked honestly.
