NHL Playoffs (1 Viewer)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Sharks are winning the cup this year.

Last night is by my count the third lucky break they've gotten so far, throw in the Eakin phantom major in game 7 vs Las Vegas that opened the floodgates for goals and the Landeskog offside line change in game 7 of the Colorado series, now this.

Explain how FOUR referees miss a blatant hand pass that leads to the game winning goal.

This playoffs has been a bad look for hockey as great as the sport is.

San Jose got four goals last night from the corpses of two players who combined are 410 years old, then throw in a goal by Coture, he's got 14 goals in the playoffs...………….FOURTEEN; or to put it another way, that's 3 more teeth than he has.

Or as one of my friends put it:

That was a sweet pass John Stockton made to assist on the game winning lay-up in last night's Sharks game

UNBELIEVABLE!!! And to throw salt in the wound he gets an assist. What kills me they will take 10 minutes to review an off side on a goal where the player in question had nothing to do with the goal yet last night nothing.

That type of play should be reviewable, especially in overtime.

As a Sharks fan I am not proud of that win.

Bruins complete the sweep over the Whalers 4-0 in the game and in the series.

Total domination all series long.

Will wait out the other series to see who they play; doesn't matter to me at this point, just happy to be playing for a championship, this city is starved for a title, been 99 days since the last one, so good luck Bruins.

If they manage to win the cup, that will be three majors for the city, last time that happened was in Detroit in the 1930's, which is pretty amazing, I would have guessed New York and their 249 sports teams, but nope, it's Detroit.

Are you talking about one city winning three championships in one year?

Yes, in the four majors, the announcers said the last time it happened was in Detroit in the 1930's; Tigers, Red Wings, Lions.

I suppose it depends on how you classify it but the Mets, Jets and Knicks (1969-1970 season) won in 1969. However, you could say that the Jets were finishing up the 1968 season so perhaps that's the distinguishing factor.

yes, it certainly would be a feat, Pittsburgh only did Baseball and Football in the same year. End of day George, we are still the "City of Champions"!!!!!!!!!!!

Lady Luck seems to be on Boston's side though this year.

If the Bruins win, it's the 2018 Red Sox, 2018-2019 Patriots and 2018-2019 Bruins; in your scenario, it's the 1968-1969 Jets, 1969 Mets, 1969-1970 Knicks, so only two of those are technically in the same sports year/season...………..

It is even rare for a city/metropolitan area to win 2 of the 4 major sports championships. Since 1925 it has only happened 17 times, including Greater Boston this year.

Interestingly enough it could happen to the Bay Area this year as well. If the Sharks find someway to win the Cup they will join the Warriors (yes, I am already giving Golden State the Championship).

You're right but winning three championships in the space of 16 months is still pretty amazing.

A sad effort from the Sharks yesterday at home in a crucial game five. That second goal Jones gave up was particularly pathetic. All he has to do is put his glove over a slow moving puck but instead for some inexplicable reason he taps it out with his stick directly to a Blues player standing in front of the net who then rockets it by him. 2-0. The LA Kings have made some awful moves over the years but dealing Jones was not one of them. The Sharks looked like they waived the white flag after that. Anything is possible in hockey but in the famous last words of Lakers guard Nick Van Exel when they were getting rolled the playoffs "1-2-3...Cancun."

I hate going to graduations. I don't care who graduates. So guess what? Tomorrow my grandaughter graduates from high school. Ceremonies 7PM to around 9PM. Blues game 7PM.
No way to get out of going to the graduation just hope I can somehow get the game on my phone.

NBC sports app Gary!!!Lets go Blues !!!

Congrats to Gary on beating the Sharks and moving onto the Finals.

I am not going to make any excuses for San Jose and take away from the St. Louis victory. The Sharks got beat by a better team.

Wait, the Finals do not start until Monday? What is this, the NBA?

It’s a scheduling question. In the NBA, game 6 is tomorrow, game 7 Monday, with the Finals starting three days later. However, if the Raptors win tomorrow, there will be a five day gap and people will complain, even though it’s all scheduling.
