However, they blamed management not Bobby for the loss.

And they should; 180 million dollar payroll=last place, 4-10 record.

Pitiful.

Next year Ortiz, Dice K and Youk all are coming off the books, it's time to blow this thing up and start over.

Lackey, Crawford, Dice K, etc, etc, terrible, awful contracts thanks to Theo.

Nice headline in the post Saturday on the back page; a picture of A-roid connecting on a bomb with the words "100 years of @#$ kicking" over it.

I guess 2004 never happened then; you can ignore it all you want, but that will leave a mark forever................stay classy New York.

Caps blew a big chance today. They outplayed the Bruins at home and still lose in OT. On to Boston. Go Kings tonight!

Huge win for the Kings. First playoff series win in over a decade. They go 3-0 on the road in Vancouver against the best team in hockey. They are moving on to St. Louis. Watch out Gary. Quick is playing goal as well as anyone in the league.

Elliot isn't playing half bad himself. But yes, Quick causes me concern.
Going into this season little did I think I would rather play Chicago, Detroit or Vancouver than Phoenix, LA or Nashville!

It's the curse of the President's Trophy. Having the best record doesn't mean much.

If it trumps the 50 year curse on the LA King's franchise, it must rank up there with King Tut's tomb and the Hope diamond. The King's have been a disaster from the get go. They need all the help they can get.

Rangers pulled it out even though the Senators did about every cheap trick they could think of. We can expect more of the same on Thursday night.

I think the blues will take the cup, seems wide open now. Maybe philly, but they still have weak tending.

I'm shocked. Shocked, I say. The Caps did not choke the seventh game against the Bruins. They actually went against type, and won the series. Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it, as all Cap fans have seen these go the wrong way for years. All I have to say is {bravo}}. Caps may not make it thru the second round but at least they came thru here. -- Al

A great series. All seven game decided by one goal. I don't think either team ever led by more than one goal. Four OT games. You can't ask for more than that. The Caps had the advantage of having nothing to lose this year. No one gave them a chance against the defending champs with the backup goalie for the Hershey Bears starting. All the pressure was on Boston. What most surprised me is how tired the Bruins looked as the series progressed. They are the more physical team and I thought they would eventually wear down the Caps. But just the opposite seemed to happen.

Pretty much sums it up; the Bruins had no jump at all last night, they looked like they had tired legs. There was no physical aspect to their game at all during the entire series. They looked like they were out of gas, maybe playing into June last year had something to do with it, who knows, or maybe it was the brilliant coaching of that POS Hunter, the ultimate goon, can't stand that smug piece of garbage, ended a guys career with a cheap shot, no class at all.

They lost 3 of the 4 games at home; you're not winning anything if you can't win at home. I had a bad feeling when they drew Washington and I was right. Lucic was invisible the whole series and Thomas was not the Thomas of last year, he was all world last year, thanks to him they won the cup, he can't stand on his head every night.

The Capitals set hockey back 20 years with that trap defense and collapsing 5 guys back into their own zone everytime the Bruins controlled the puck, I thought Tampa was bad with their 1/3 neutral zone defense, this was ten times worse, they circled the wagons around Holtby/Holfy/Schmoltzy/whatever the guys name is. The best player the Capitals has saw limited ice time due to his defensive lapses, boring hockey to say the least, I was falling asleep watching that game last night.

So far in the playoffs the team with the most points, the cup winner last year and the team most predicted to win it this year are all out, the NHL must be thrilled at the prospect of a Nashville/Florida or LA/Washington final; oh yeah, what excitement that will be if it's the latter, 7 games ending in overtime 1-0......ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....................the draft is tonight and tomorrow, the Celtics are about to begin the playoffs and the Red Sox are showing some signs of life, so one door closes and three more open in Boston.

With Vancouver, Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburg and Boston all out, I'm done with the playoffs.........sorry Gary and Doug, good luck to the Kings and Blues, send me a post card and let me know how it all works out.................

What a shame Brad has left the forum what with the Rangers winning tonight 2-1, thus moving on to face the
immortal Braden Holtfy and the Capitals in round two...............wow, what isn't that exciting!?!?!?

But then again, the Jets, with holes on the O line, linebacker and safety spots, picked Coples from North Carolina, a D lineman with questionable work ethic............{eek3}

The Kings are playing out of their minds. 5-0 on the road. Quick may be the best goalie in hockey right now. Nice win for the long suffering Capitals. Ovechkin fired a laser beam by Lundqvist after the Rangers tied it up.

Combat, I was there last night. The best part of the game was the national anthem, and I,m not joking!
Unless things have a sudden turn around, it could be LA's year!

An amazing first period (although I'm sure you have a different word for it) when the Kings scored those 4 goals. The Blues played the rest of the game even. A couple of miracle saves kept it from being close. They seemed to up the physical play and maybe that is the formula going forward. Don't give up though. The Kings are cursed and the home ice hasn't helped anyone.

Caps lost a heart-breaker in Triple OT. These games can't get much closer. -- Al

The good news is that the Caps had their chances. They outplayed NY for the most of the night, but sometimes you need a little luck in hockey and it didn't happen. Holtby is a great story. Hopefully they get a win in game four and then anything is possible.

As I was working last night until the wee hours I didn't see it but I admit it must be a heartbreaker for Caps fans but a godsend for Ranger fans.

Watching the Flyers/Devils game tonight, I have to wonder how the Penguins lost to the Flyers; man does their goalie suck, he's slow as a hourglass and his reaction time is timed with a sundial.

The Bruins blew it this year as they'd be playing the Flyers in this round with the winner playing the Rangers/Devils, moving on to play what looks like the Kings or the Coyotes.

Man did they blow a golden chance for another shot at a cup..............

The Kings are on fire. I probably just jinxed them but they steamrolled Vancouver and are 3-0 with the Blues. Both top notch teams. It's hard to believe but my concern is that they sweep the Blues and cool off while waiting for Phoenix and Nashville to go six or seven.
