A great series. All seven game decided by one goal. I don't think either team ever led by more than one goal. Four OT games. You can't ask for more than that. The Caps had the advantage of having nothing to lose this year. No one gave them a chance against the defending champs with the backup goalie for the Hershey Bears starting. All the pressure was on the Boston. What most surprised me is how tired the Bruins looked as the series progressed. They are the more physical team and I thought they would eventually wear down the Caps. But just the opposite seemed to happen.
Pretty much sums it up; the Bruins had no jump at all last night, they looked like they had tired legs. There was no physical aspect to their game at all during the entire series. They looked like they were out of gas, maybe playing into June last year had something to do with it, who knows, or maybe it was the brilliant coaching of that POS Hunter, the ultimate goon, can't stand that smug piece of garbage, ended a guys career with a cheap shot, no class at all.
They lost 3 of the 4 games at home; you're not winning anything if you can't win at home. I had a bad feeling when they drew Washington and I was right. Lucic was invisible the whole series and Thomas was not the Thomas of last year, he was all world last year, thanks to him they won the cup, he can't stand on his head every night.
The Capitals set hockey back 20 years with that trap defense and collapsing 5 guys back into their own zone everytime the Bruins controlled the puck, I thought Tampa was bad with their 1/3 neutral zone defense, this was ten times worse, they circled the wagons around Holtby/Holfy/Schmoltzy/whatever the guys name is. The best player the Capitals has saw limited ice time due to his defensive lapses, boring hockey to say the least, I was falling asleep watching that game last night.
So far in the playoffs the team with the most points, the cup winner last year and the team most predicted to win it this year are all out, the NHL must be thrilled at the prospect of a Nashville/Florida or LA/Washington final; oh yeah, what excitement that will be if it's the latter, 7 games ending in overtime 1-0......ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....................the draft is tonight and tomorrow, the Celtics are about to begin the playoffs and the Red Sox are showing some signs of life, so one door closes and three more open in Boston.
With Vancouver, Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburg and Boston all out, I'm done with the playoffs.........sorry Gary and Doug, good luck to the Kings and Blues, send me a post card and let me know how it all works out.................
