As I have mentioned, I'm not a big hockey fan, but I see in the newspaper this AM that the Caps are once again in the midst of their annual playoff swoon. According to the paper, the Caps are 2-4 in 7-game playoff series since 2008. Should be a good one tonight. At least it is a home game for the Caps. Might watch this one. -- Al

It's been pretty exciting hockey Al, worth a watch. Notwithstanding the Caps records in seventh games, the home team has won all the games. Unfortunately, I think this will happen again, but maybe in overtime.

Think I'm going to tune in. Nats are on the west coast with a late start time. I'll tell my wife that there is an ice-skating competition to watch.{eek3}^&grin -- Al

Verizon Center should be rocking. The Caps started this series red hot, but they have played tight as it has progressed. The Rangers had a five-to-zero power play advantage yesterday and won 1-0 at home. If that equals out tonight, the Caps should win. It would be a bitter loss given their long standing playoff struggles.

The Rangers' power play has been terrible and has come in for some major criticism. Can't see that changing tonight. Even if they should pull out tonight's game, it doesn't bode well for future rounds.

The Caps have once again choked away their season in the play-offs. Nothing new or surprising in that, but failing to show up and playing in game 7 is quite inexcusable. But that is their history. Now if I was a Toronto fan, I would be looking for a bus to throw myself under. Don't know that I have ever seen anyone blow a 3 goal lead in the last 11 minutes of the game. Pretty bad. -- Al

Tough way to lose. I thought it would be a close match.

The Rangers Bruins series should be fun. Boston gets a chance to get revenge after the Celtics exit.

That was beyond incredible, if I hadn't seen it in person, I wouldn't have believed it.

My two friends wanted to leave when it was 4-1, I told them if they score with more than 10 minutes left, we have to stay; they scored at 10:42............so we stayed.

Wow.

Just wow.

The suicide hotlines must be ringing off the hook tonight in Toronto, what an epic fail.

Playoff hockey, nothing like it.

Now we get the Rangers; great..................:rolleyes2:...

What you get is a great goalie that will not be blowing 4-1 leads..GOOOOOO RANGERS! Michael

Great, the paint isn't even dry on the last series and you'ze Rangers fans are already breaking snappers.

After that miracle comeback last night, it's all gravy for me at this point, just glad the season will continue.

The Bruins looked like they had given up at one point. I turned it over to the Caps game and missed the comeback. The Caps are cursed. It would be difficult to find any other team that has so consistently underperformed/choked in the playoffs. Coming out flat in this game and getting rolled was pathetic. I heard it was only something like the fourth time in NHL history that a goalie had back-to-back shutouts in the playoffs.

The crying is underway in DC. What did the Caps collapse, AGAIN? Boo-hoo. Because it is their destiny. This latest failure is the 9th time (that's right, 9 times) that the Caps have had a 2-0 or 3-1 lead in games in a playoff series and FAILED to win the series. Can't even take comfort in the old saw, 'Well, at least they made the playoffs', because something like 90% of the teams in the NHL make the playoffs anyway.:rolleyes2: Well, at least 4 of the 'Original 6' are still in the hunt. -- Al

George, are you at every big Boston sports game? You always seem to find tickets.
That truely was a "Monday Night Miracle".
When Boston got that 2nd goal, I sat there and actually thought they could do it. Congrats.
New York vs Boston, Ole time hockey, eh!

Forgot to mention the oh so impressive stat that the Caps are now 3-9, all-time, in playoff Game 7's. {sm2} -- Al

It's the first time they've faced each other in the playoffs since 1973. That's hard to believe.

I'm thinking of trying to get a ticket for one of the games at MSG but a fast look at StubHub shows they're not cheap, around $200.

Time to pick them:

Pittsburgh 4 Ottawa 2 - this might be a better series than expected now that the Pens look vulnverable and Fleury has flaked out.

Boston 4 NYR 3 - I think NY played better in the first round than the Bruins, but the first round is over.

LA 4 SJ 2 - I wouldn't be shocked if SJ wins this series. Quick is the best goalie in hockey, but the Kings were beat up and had trouble scoring in the first round. The Sharks are rested and no love lost. Kopitar and Carter are going to have to get points. No more hanging around on Quick's goal tendings and stealing the game with only one or two goals. They are going to have to produce some offense. On the plus side, the Kings have experience and confidence in the playoffs. They don't get rattled.

Chicago 4 Detroit 1 - The Red Wings have extended their run as far as they will go. I give them credit for making the playoffs with a great run and out lasting the Ducks, but this is the end. At least two ugly losses in this series.

I've got great sources for tickets; my uncle used to be head of security at the Garden/Fleet Center, so there you go, plus my girlfriends company gets tickets for most of the games, she got me three tickets for last nights game.

I'm amazed it took the Bruins 6 games, 49 minutes and 18 seconds to figure out how to beat the Toronto goalie; get traffic in front of him, he's a rebound giver upper machine, not to mention he sits low to the ice, high stick side and he's toast.

I'm going Thursday night, can't wait to see all the bandwagon Rangers fans come out of the woodwork for the game; have to give them credit, they have one of the best jerseys in hockey, that vertical "Rangers" logo is classic in red, white and blue...............look for seven 2-1, 3-2, 1-0 games this series, old time hockey for sure...............
