Well the NY Rangers are still alive but just barely...in order to come back they will need the continued help of Boston's Goalie:wink2:....And yes Combat that was one of the worst calls in these playoffs......way too fast with the whistle on that one....Very Bad.

During a hockey game when I was in high school, a player from the other team shot the puck into our end; it took a weird bounce off the boards and was headed towards our goalie. He came out of the crease to shoot the puck back up ice, lost his balance, whiffed on the shot and the puck went into our net.

That was the most pathetic goal I'd ever seen scored in my life.

Until last night.

Good God was that first goal just beyond awful, the second one was almost as pathetic, Chara and Rask both fell asleep on that play.

This series should be over, but thanks to that joke of a win last night, the Rangers are still alive.

Just beyond maddening that the corpse of the New York Rangers still has life in this series.

I may have to eat humble pie! Wings 3 games to 1 over Chicago. I was handing the Cup to Chicago before the playoffs even started.
Glad I,m not a betting man.

The Kings finally played up to their standard from last year dominating the Sharks in game five. Quick is the best goalie in hockey. He's like a spider between the pipes. He has carried them so far. If they get any offense, they are tough to beat. I'm surprised the Red Wings are dominating Chicago but not shocked. The Blackhawks peaked early and are not a physical team. The playoffs are a grind.

Re: Nhl - Penguins roll on

Bring on the Bruins , Pens are playing Hockey the way it should be played again . Everybody is fit and the only worry is those beards grow so long they trip over them .

With Ottawa bowing out, Canada's non cup streak goes to 20 years.......................

Goodbye Rangers, hello Penguins, on to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The way the Bruins were playing down the stretch, I did not think they'd get past the Maple Leafs (and it took a miracle win to do it) and it looked to me like the Capitals were peaking at the right time.

Leave it to the Capitals to soil themselves once again in the playoffs, setting up Bruins/Rangers.

I thought with the style the Rangers play with players forming a human shield in front of their all world goalie, this series would go 7 games with some 1-0, 2-1 and several overtime games thrown it, but it did not play out that way, injuries to three Bruins defensemen caused them to throw three kids into the fire, they all played outstanding, specficially Krug, 4 goals in 5 games, he's got a cannon from the point.

If the Bruins can stay out of the penalty box, this should be a close series; if not, forget it.

That said, I'll take my chances vs Pittsburg and their goalie, still not sold on him, never good to have to make a change like that in the playoffs..............................

Bruins vs Penguins will be a great series....Looking forward to some excellent playoff hockey:salute:::salute::....Chicago vs.Detroit also turning out to be a good one.....

Hawks played a great game tonight. Game 7 in Chicago on Wednesday night. {sm4}

Brian,

It's hard to see how they would but same applies to Red Wings as well. However, the Blackhawks should prevail. Can't see them not getting to the Cup.

Winning three in a row is no easy task in the NHL playoffs. It's hard to sustain that must win mentality for three games. And then they will get the Kings or Sharks. San Jose has only lost twice all season at home. They are almost impossible to beat in the shark tank. The Kings have the best goalie in hockey. No easy path. I'm pulling for anyone except the Pens though.

That had to be the poorest excuse for a penalty shot I,ve ever seen, and to call it in such a crucial game. And I want the Hawks to win!
Is it just me, and I know wings coach Mike Babcock is good, but whenever the camera comes in close he always looks like he totally confused as to what,s happening.
Gary

I have to agree about the penalty. That was a gift. He must be a basketball ref in his spare time :rolleyes2:

The Blackhawks were also offsides on the go ahead goal. The fans were booing the entire time before the goal. The common refrain is that bad calls happen both ways. You play through it if you want to win. And there is some truth to that, but there is a major difference between judgment calls and outright flubs that directly change the outcome of the game. The Kings had a clear goal waived off in a series that rarely has a team score more than two goals in the entire game. That's inexcusable.

That penalty shot was embarassing, what a gift that was, a joke actually.

And yes, Babcock looks dazed and confused quite a bit, but he's still a top notch coach, have to give the man credit.......

Short a miracle comeback/epic collapse, it's back to back trips to the WCF for those pesky Kings and their diehard fans, what a franchise rich in hockey tradition, all those trips to the Stanley Cup finals, all those hockey HOF members, just great for the sport for this to happen two years in a row.

As I'm watching the game my GF comes downstairs, looks at the screen and says "Is that Tom Cruise, with Posh Spice and David Beckham sitting behind him?"........to which I replied "Is the game in LA?".........then about ten minutes later, that rabid hockey fan Justin Beiber pops up on screen..........awesome, just awesome.

I saw some people eating with chopsticks at the game. The Kings are a gritty team. Quick is the best goalie in hockey. He made a couple of circus saves last night. If they score two goals, they are almost unbeatable. Sutter is the best coach in hockey right now. A man of few words. None of which can be understood.

The Sharks had their chances, specifically towards the end when a juicy rebound sat at the doorstep of the goal and with the whole net to shoot at, the guy fired the puck right into the glove of Quick who was sprawled out on the ice, if he gets any sort of elevation on that shot, it's a goal.

Great save or lucky save, no goal, game over...............

I didn't catch any of last night's match but am looking forward to tonight's match but since I'll be also watching Mets Yankees, the clicker will get a workout.
