Hello Damian,

I agree with what you are saying but let's do not go crazy about Trophy supply :)

The price depends upon demand and supply...and Trophy made thousands of these wonderful sets, most of them are still sitting in the people's collections and basements...and how many SERIOUS Trophy collectors we have all over the world ? 100? 200?

I have seen very early Trophy sets with certificate of LE 300 sets signed by Len...I am pretty sure that with Trophy prices on the rise we will see more these sets for sale.

Just my 2 cents :)

Al

That is very true. Look at the last two Hospital sets. One went for 3000 USD the next for half that. It pays to wait a bit.
Now about that Arab Dhow:D:D

Hi Martyn,

THis figure looks similar, if not identical to the one in the Trophy BB Front Rank, Reload ! Set ?

Thanks, Raymond.:)

Hi Raymond

You are quite correct I have one figure in my BBZ1Y “Front Rank Reload” and 2 more in my “At The Ready” set# ZS3

Hello Martyn,
What is so special about this piece?
Al :)

Nothing Al, apart from the cuffs being painted blue to denote the 4th Regiment of Foot. This is something you could have asked Len to do and he would happily have complied

Cheers

Martyn:)

Hi Martyn,

Thanks very much. I can always count on your excellent replies.

I have Set ZS3B, but all 6 figures have white pith helmets with shacko badges (3 standing and 3 kneeling).

The figure with the bandaged head looks interesting.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Why the Oohs and Aahs about the price guys?
What does a single Trophy figure go for these days on e bay?
I realize that 40 GBP was a lot back in the day but by the sounds of things 40 GBP does not seem so unreasonable these days.

To be fair Damian I don't think that particular single figure is worth £40+, £40 isn't the reserve price.

Now this figure is probably worth that price as it was only available in the Big Box "Front Rank Reload" set, unless you placed a special order;)

Last time I saw one on Ebay it sold for just over £39

Fair enough.
Let's see what happens.
There have been some strange outcomes on e bay recently.

The flaw in my analogy with the hollow cast WB stuff is that those figures were manufactured for 80 years as playthings. Little boys threw coins and marbles at the WB wonders and then left them out in the rain without a second thought. So a lot of WB figures were destroyed or broken. I doubt if little boys were ever allowed to throw marbles at any Trophy figures. So whatever Len made is still sitting out there somewhere, waiting for the right price to come along.

Absolutely right Damian and someone has already bid at least £40 on the figure in question. Let's not forget those Civilian figures and what they sold for at the end of 2009

£205.74 for the three figures

Hi As a matter of interest we painted white helmets on the 24th figures if the collecter wanted them for the Drift, but a tan colour for the rest to represent the tea and coffee stained helmet covers of the column that went into Zululand.Regards Len Taylor.

Yes. The 24th figures have white pith helmets for both versions of the Storehouse at the Drift.

Thanks, Raymond.:)
