Sherman is coming (2 Viewers)

Saw it this morning on their website. Looks great! :D

Too many good things to choose from Cameron! I am trying to stick to Civil War. But it is hard! :)

This looks amazing! My resolve is failing me fast. I'm kicking myself for selling off the little bit of Fl WW2 that I did have. It looks like my Britains Revolutionary war sets are about to go up for sale to finance my dwelling deep into Ww2.

Oh my fellows!!!!! well we been asking for it and here she is!!!!!!!!!!! looks to be a beaut!!!! the pitted turret looks sweet as the weathering and tracks look just as nice, oh such a nice surprise to wake up to, can't wait for the newsletter...Sammy

Yes!

I was just complaining yesterday how First Legion has not released a tank/vehicle in over a year. I think I just need to complain more.

Can a Panzer IV or Panther to fight it be far behind?

Finally a Sherman!!! This will be my 1st FL tank. Start saving your pennies now fellas.

Hi Guys,

My long wait is over!!! I can not wait to add this beauty to my collection as soon as it is released. Sammy, I am sure it will look dynamite in your Normandy diorama! Frankly, the overall quality of the Sherman (even in the stock photo) is spectacular! What else do you come to expect from Matt and the First Legion team! {bravo}}

Nice Sherman! Isn't this a M4A2? I thought they where not used by US Army just M4A1's at that time in France. Maybe I'm wrong.

Look forward to hearing what Gary has to say about it. My technical knowledge of Sherman's is not great as I am not keen on them as an AFV. It looks nicely weathered and will undoubtedly pick one up sooner or later. Look forward to some German armour. An SS panzer IV would be good

Exactly Brad! All my collecting now goes to First Legion ACW and what little WWII I have so far (two 101st boys). The hard part is trying to figure out what to spend my money on when I can afford to purchase another figure or two. UGH!

I'm far from an authority on Shermans, but it appears to be a transitional welded hull M4A1 with the applique armor/wet storage modifications to me.

And now to ruin the enjoyment. Don't read any further.

It's a mid-production M4 with a cast turret and sharply angled welded hull. There are several pieces of applique armour in front of the Diver and radio hatch and one on the side to protect the dry ammo storage. The rear deck is that of an M4 and not a grilled cover like an M2A2. The Americans used only M4 and M4A1 and did not use the M2A2 which was used mainly by the Brits. Exactly the type of Sherman that would have supported the 101st Airborne against German 6th Parachute regiment and the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division at Carentan. If staying historical, the markings on the Sherman should be M4 and M4A1 Sherman tanks of the 66[SUP]th[/SUP] Armoured Regiment of Combat Command A of the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Armoured Division supported by the 29[SUP]th[/SUP] Infantry Division.

Prediction: we will see an M4A1 cast hull Sherman, troops of the 29th US Infantry Division and Stug IV used by the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division.

As for the flaws : No Comment ^&grin

Looks like Sammy is going to be buying some armour for his big display.

Tiger should be out soon behind this sherman

Personally, I'd prefer to see a Panzer IV H with schürzen (and a couple of the panels missing) done right.

Figarti has the Normandy Tigers more than covered. We've also seen a glut of Tigers and Panthers lately. I'd prefer to see the underrepresented backbones of the German armored forces, and if anyone can do a German tank with schürzen I think it would be First Legion.

I could be lying - just waiting for everyone to buy the Sherman before listing all it's flaws.^&grin Who knows what the No Comment is hiding. :wink2:

And my guesses as to what AFVs and units will come next is just based on history. FL could do something completely different.

Sammy's Bloody Gulch diorama is expandable so if FL does continue on an historical path, the future AFVs and units can be added a square at a time.
