Summer 1940 - 'Dowding's Harvest' (2 Viewers)

Hey Rob,

That's a simply BRILLIANT wee vignette. It tells the story simply and effectively - and there's nuthin' whatsoever wrong with your photography - its as good as anyone else's.
This has inspired me to re-visit my Flying Tigers Dio when I get home. I've been kicking certain ideas around for improving it, but they've been on my backburner for too long now. Your excellent diorama has kick-started my creative process again. Thanks a lot for posting your photo's and planting your boot where you've put it, so that I get off my behind and try to improve my stuff.

Cheers
H

Thanks very much indeed Harry, thats very kind. Its very nice to hear that from you as it was your work that first made me think i could have a go,and i very much look forward to your revamped Flying Tigers dio.I have had such a great response including some of the best dio and painting guys on here that i can't wait to get started on my next project-just as soon as i can decide what to do!:)

Thanks to all who have taken the trouble to comment on my ME109 scene.:)

Rob

I found the stuff. All available in both matte and gloss as far as I know.

Cheers
Harry

I love the set with the farmer and pitchfork!.This is straight out of the Battle of Britain film, would love to see K&C do this set.

Never in the thread of a Treefrog forum has so much been discussed on a dio by so few........

Thats Ok,its sort of turned into a Battle of Britain thread, and thats just fine by me:).Would love to know what Andy has planned for his next FOB release.I'd love to see a UXB scene.

Rob

Do you remember an ITV drama programme called 'Danger UXB' I think it starred a young Anthony Andrews (?), about an RE bomb disposal unit during the blitz? That would make an intersting range.

Also, talking about new figures, ranges and TV programmes, why not an RAF bomber crew at dispersal or returning from a night raid heading for bacon n' eggs (Guy Gibson, 617 Squadron Dambusters etc....lets not talk about his dog and the proposed new film!)

ITV also did a drama called 'Pathfinders' again lots of scope there, Irvine jackets and baggy flying boots spring to mind...in fact they could blend in nicely with the current Luftwaffe and Eighth air force figures.

Rob, I expect your next dio to be aviation related as you seem to be quite an ace at it!!....tally ho ........

They also make a neat Galland and Molders which fits in very well with the old K & C glossy Luftwaffe set, if you happen to have that.

Wow Rob you did a fantastic job with this. Seems I am late to the party but some how I missed seeing this thread until now. I guess the Dover radar was out of action again; "must find more pilots or lose".;):D BTW, from the looks of the pattern of hits on that Messer, it would seem that the pilot that brought him down was still using the Dowding spread; he was probably a Hurri pilot.:D

If this is your first dio, I can hardly wait to see what you come up with next. Bloody talented beginners; they set a high bar.;):D Well done indeed mate.

Hey Bill,

Thanks mate thats very kind of you.Between you and me i messed up the Bullet holes on the other side of the ME109,so i cheated and turned it round!;).Am still trying to decide what to do next.I have one or two ideas that include a much larger AK dio, however i am tempted to try and build up my skills on another small aircraft scene.

Once again thanks Bill,i appreciate you taking the time to post mate.

cheers

Yes I have this TV series on DVD,very enjoyable and tense too. I think a UXB scene would be so cool and a tribute to all those who lost their lives trying to defuse these Bombs.

Rob you're on a roll mate, start a series on aviation related themes. I know you're not overly impressed with Hitler and his henchmen but the thought just struck me you could do something with Adolf Galland telling Goering he wants a squadron of Spitfires.

Thats got to be one of my favourite lines from any film, love it!:)

I now have the nucleus of an idea for my next dio and after i've finished watching Dr Who i will start drawing it out.;)

It appears to me you have very swiftly become addicted to creating dios-I can recommend a reputable re-hab establishment should you find the need anytime downstream.

Never been there myself as I have been a complete and hopeless addict for eons :D

Good use of that new FOB piece. That Luftwaffe pilot doesnt' look too upset to be a POW. He probably knows he's headed for internship in Canada which meanst four star accomodation, safety, clean sheets, good food etc etc.:D
