The British Empire (2 Viewers)

It has been a while since I could update this thread, but tonight it is my great pleasure to announce a major addition to my "British Empire" collection. Another outstanding piece of work by fellow forum member John Firth "beating retreat". The kit is from Mountford Metal Miniatures and John created a custom base for it. I would like to start with a few "in the making" images. You can see the custom made base, raw and painted, and a few images of the primed horses and figures which received the starting coats of paint. More pictures of the finished set to follow.

When taking photos today, I found it rather difficult to get the proper results with a large set like this. Up to now I was used to take shots of single figures. The first photos here show you the gun and the limber. Sculpting of this complete set was a combined work by Dave Love of Mountford Metal Miniatures (Gun and Limber) and wellknown Toy Soldier sculptor Alan Caton for all figures and horses. Both of them did exceptional work, very precise and detailed.

I only picked one figure for closeup views and that is the mounted Sergeant of the Anglo Zulu War Royal Artillery Team. For all other figures I tried to take photos in a way that each one is in focus at one time. I do want to mention that John modified a few of the figures by adding a moustache or beard, like on the Sergeant and the sitting trooper with helmet in his hand.

A few more details and the last two pictures do give you a total view. Another thing I want to mention is that John made sure I get my high gloss black edging on the base as I do have with all my "British Empire" figures so far. It can be seen in the total view.
Believe me, I am very, very happy to have this wonderful set in my collection.
Hope you like looking at the pictures as much as I do looking at it eye to eye :)
Konrad

I thought this thread was a little quiet and I can see why !!!!!

This is absolutely beautiful Konrad, thanks for sharing it with us.

Konrad,

An outstanding set of figures in gloss.....absolutely superb.

The mounted sergeant is great.....the sitting trooper is even better.

Thanks for sharing,

Raymond.:)

Konrad,

Now that's a great looking centre piece for your collection, can't beat a gun team for the wow factor! John has done a first rate job as usual.

Stunning stuff, congrats Konrad and John a real thing of beauty.

Hi Maple Leaf,

I am not aware of a dealer within the U.S.
The set is distributed by Mountford Metal Miniatures of the U.K.
You can buy it as a kit for GBP169.95 or painted for GBP295.00
The contact is Dave Love, who is also the sculptor of the Gun and the Limber.
His email adress is dlove@supanet.com
Or you can visit their website which is www.mountfordmodels.com

Please remember, the set you see here in this thread has not been painted by Mountford, but by John Firth, who is a fellow forum member "beating retreat". He also made the custom base.

Thank u my freind for info
Really like the set will try to get one.
The biggest part of my collection so far
is the Beau Geste Durbar , glossy but awsome.
I have nothing against glossy.
Thank u

This is wonderful Konrad and when added to your other exclusive sets, it all makes for a unique and excellent collection.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everybody for the positive comments on this new set.
It is a great pleasure to keep up this collection and as good as every single set is so far, once the dust settles after the arrival, I am already excited about, and looking forward to, the next one :)
Konrad
