The Stugs, comparions. (5 Viewers)

Matt,could you venture a bit more info?:D;)

Rob

I vaguely remember Matt saying the first 2 AFVs will be German followed by 2 Russian AFVs. There was a KV1 at a street intersection that the Germans had a hard time knocking out.

I must say those images look very good to me, speaking as a non-WWII ground forces collector.

Great images indeed.

Very interested to see the Russian vehicles.

The F/L Stug is a wonderful model and the fact that it does size up to K/C very nicely ought put to bed the worry that some K/C collectors had with mixing the 2 vehicles. I have always felt that K/C figures were oversized in proportions and bulk. That has always been their charm to collectors. IMO it does look like that F/L figure's proportions are more appropriate in looking lifelike. My guess is that a F/L tanker, if it could be placed in a K/C vehicle would look just right..I am personally satisfied that F/L was right about their presentation as to their scale. I apologize here for thinking differently. ( I did not post, since I had no good to offer ). Michael

Matt, I love your photos. First Legion does have - in the photos you take - a very clean style.

I wouldn't feel badly about thinking negative thoughts about the size of the FL figures. There was plenty of acrimonious debate and it was difficult to judge what was fact and what was speculation. I think that the recent photos from Nas' close friend and the 1940's photos from Frank have gone a long way to confirming that the FL AFVs are a "correct" size and that the figures are as well, although the figures are smaller than the other manufacturers' figures and for most people, would not look good together. But until FL actually produced an AFV, it was difficult for me to understand if it would be a true 1/30 or a bit smaller and why there was such a large size difference between the FL and K&C figures.

These are really good photos that do justice to both the FL figures and FL stug. Looking at these pictures I can see why people are praising FL quite highly. I'm really looking forward to seeing the stug in real life.

I think that is a very gracious comment Michael. It is much easier to post an opinion than to revise one and your post is a real class act in my book. I am pretty sure it will be appreciated.

I recieved the FL Stugs today....They are without a doubt "Fantastic".....I was concerned with the weight of these models after some discussion on the forum about them being too light....... but must say the weight for these models is "JUST RIGHT"......."Scale is right on for their soldiers"....Detail is amazing.....Weathering is Just Right not overdone......Excellent AFV by First Legion......Thank you and congratulations to First Legion. Well Done:)

Russian vehicles??? Who cares! I wouldnt mind have some "Knocked out" russian vehicles..

I'm waiting for the Russian AFVs. I have plenty of Eastern Front German AFVs but nothing Russian except a K&C T34-85. Only Figarti has indicated they will do a JS2. So I am hoping FL will come out with their 2 Russian AFVs this year.

Thanks for the hands on review and I agree with you for the first one out the door it is as you say " Fantastic " ! I can't wait to see what will come next, the photo that I have seen from Toy Soldier Collector # 31 of the next German offering looks to be even better . Which is what we have come to expect from FL ,,they just keep improving with each new offering . I like some others also look forward to some Russian Armor a KV1 or a T34 would be a good place to start as we work our way up to the HEAVIES  Thanks again for the review Gebhard ............Which one is your Favorite of your two Stugs ?

Both are excellent....I slightly favor the "tan stug" Veh#001....

Re: Battle for the Barrikady Gun Factory, Nov.'42

Just from the recent side by side photos, the FL stug looks pretty close to 1/30 as well. It may be a smidgen larger as the K&C stug may be a smidgen smaller than 1/30

Terry

Who cares if K&C figures can go with FL?? The point is FL is the future of Miniatures!!

I personally do not care wether FL goes with K/C......I like First Legion "just as they are"; which is why I decided to collect them in the first place.....K/C and Figarti are good at what they produce....But their style is different.....First Legion is not meant to go with K/C or Figarti......FL is a unqiue realistc style which stands alone and that's OK with me......I'm Glad that FL has NOT tried to copy the style or size of other toy soldier manufacturers......Their product is indeed their own.....and it is "amazing" in realism and detail......Don't Change a thing......IMO

I would like to mix in some FL Russian AFVs. That they are finished differently is less important to me than the fact they are similar in scale to other manufacturers AFVs. I already mix K&C, Figarti, HB and CS AFVs and I am OK with the finishes being different. But I do not like to mix the older, smaller K&C and Figarti with the full 1:30 scale K&C and Figarti AFVs. We likely will see one or both or the next 2 FL AFVs this year and they are supposed to be Russian AFVs

Terry

I also hope to see some Russian armour in the Stalingrad series from FL but it is not important to me that they match K/C or Figarti.....I display FL..... "separately" ....as they are in a style and class of there own......As I said before, First legion has produced a product line which is realistic and unique and I am glad that they have NOT attempted to clone K/C or Figarti.....IMO First Legion produces the "superior' product line.....
