"The Zulu War" (2 Viewers)

Thats brilliant Mike !!! You are quite the dio master. Are the figures attached permanently to the base? Is that your famous "magic water" I may have to give that a try.

Cheers for the pic.

AMAZING !!!!

Scott,
Thanks for the cheers. It is the "magic water" base I made for a coastal shoreline with the NJ shore sand on the right. You have to get some and play with it. It is SIMPLE and awesome. http://www.unrealdetails.com/
Must get it for your pending Britains African Animals dio

On February 4th 1879, Major Black of the 24th Regiment went out from Rorke's Drift to locate the bodies of Lts. Melville and Coghil who had perished at the Buffalo River downstream from the Drift. After locating the bodies with the help of some officers and men of the Natal Native Contingent, Black continued his search for the missing Queen's Colours that the two subalterns had been trying to save. Little more than 100 yards downriver from where the bodies were found, Black located the unfurled Colours and leather case in a shallow area of the Buffalo. He would later personally deliver the found Colours to Colonel Glyn, head of the 2nd Warwickshire Regiment.

Mike,

Love it! Especially after watching Zulu Dawn, so sad Coghil was my favorite out of the film.

Mike,

An outstanding diorama, the water is incredible. I also like that they are all LL.

I need to say it again, "An Incredible Diorama."

What can I say Mike but EXCELLENT.

Looks like 2009 is going to be a great year for dioramas.

Cheers

Martyn:)

Love it 1879 when I see the results of your playtime and it goes to show how realistic a scene can be made to look even if the figure are gloss. Nice ending to the recuse of the Queen's Colours......The Lt.

That looks just like the Buffalo River. Well done. My wife fell in it in 2000.

Fellow Men of Harlech,
Thank you all for the comments. It is my pleasure! Any requests?

Mike,

Magnificent diorama from the Master himself !!

Nice round up to all the recent comms on the "colours" at Isandhlwana.

If my memory serves me right, the actual recovered colour is now on display in the South Wales Borderers Museum in Brecon.

You were right about the regimental colour being in Helpmakaar. I did some research over the weekend and you were dead on target.

Raymond:)

*I have dropped my callsign now that I have made Pfc 1st Class after 1 week in boot camp.

Once again the Zulus are determined to wash their spears......The Lt.

On the 24th of April 1879, the HMS gunboat Forester is conducting sounding manuevers on the Zululand coast 45 miles north of the Tugela River. A large party of Zulus appeared on the shoreline and opened fire on the launch boats. The soldiers and sailors returned fire and returned to the Forester. The main guns opened up from the gunboat, sending the Zulus into cover. The Forester returned to the area several days later and performed the landing survey to establish Port Durnford for the 2nd invasion.

Mike,
Nice, I really like the water, it looks great in all your dioramas. Who manufactures the boat, it fits well with your figures.

A new avatar.

Thanks Brian,
The boat is mine from an old project I did... making small blue rowboats!
