Things that annoy me (5 Viewers)

Looks like something one would see on the "opinion" page of the Washington Post, Boston Globe or NYT ... except of course the "B"!

I saw this today. Mind blowing given the campaign rhetoric.

WASHINGTON, Feb 21 - U.S. President Donald Trump deported 37,660 people during his first month in office, previously unpublished U.S. Department of Homeland Security data show, far less than the monthly average of 57,000 removals and returns in the last full year of Joe Biden's administration.

do you really believe any of the numbers? I don't. I have found that every study is manipulated to whoever is doing it. Call me cynical, fine. I am still just trying to digest why we don't just follow the laws as written, which I believe this administration is trying to do, yet, they are sued in Court at every turn. Rinse, wash repeat. Same playbook. Instead of banding together to fix the problem.

Biden was deporting 57,000 illegals a month?

Too bad he didn't deport the illegal he let back into the country via catch and release in 2022 who murdered my friends cousin.

I don't believe this is a study anyone is conducting but a governmental report under the Trump administration. You don't find the initial results disappointing in comparison to the campaign promises and rhetoric? Even making allowances for exaggeration between campaign promises and results, it still is underwhelming and even puzzling. What disappoints me most, however, it that this hasn't been prioritized. Immigration and inflation were the top campaign issues. My fear is that Musk is burning the short window to get anything done before the midterms with his chaotic sideshow. He is sucking all the energy and attention in a different direction. Thankfully, at least, the number crossing the border have significantly been reduced.

I am cynical of all government reporting both ways. Like job reports? They are complete and utter bs that are revised months later. I feel like all of these reports are. I do think where you are seeing results is (to your point) the slowdown of crossings. That is (to me) very key in this exercise. Catching who is here is a lot harder in itself and is being hampered further by certain States and politicians. All of this said, I really don't believe the Biden number at all. Every, and I say this with complete confidence, report ever produced by the Biden administration was manipulated. I don't want to call them outright lies, but I do believe they were manipulated and interpreted to a talking point, not to the raw data or facts.

All of this is an opinion, but I do feel it is based on my own interpretation of facts. This guy is far from perfect, but light years ahead of where we were and Rome was not built in a day. You just have to hope that progress is/will be made. If we had stayed on the course we were on, we would have been bankrupt and beholden to another country within the year. I look at the highlights - Foreign Policy is much stronger and that carries a lot of weight. Crossings are down, again, lot of long term weight, Financials will be better but there will be short term pain, etc.

I keep telling myself this; the reckless spending would have been on steroids, DEI/Woke/Identity politics would continue and the green new deal would be rammed further down our throats, not to mention how weak we'd be on the world stage.

We'd be screwed.
So true.

There may be reason to be cynical when the government reports numbers that are favorable to their own administration. However, when they are self-reporting unfavorable numbers, then there is a problem. It's their own appointees who are putting the report together. Immigration is one area where there seemingly could have been better results in the short term. Hopefully they sort it out but I'm not optimistic.

Democrats not standing for anything Trump said at the State of the Union msg. Not even for the introduction of the first lady. They are feckless.
Not to mention not standing for a young boy with cancer or the families of two female murder victims or a young woman volleyball player injured by a biological male. Why would these people who obviously lack any common sense display any empathy or common courtesy ..... absolutely disgraceful!

They are so out of touch with America yet they get elected. Doesn't say much for the electorate. The "no males in women's sports" issue seems like a no brainer yet the gov of Maine remains defiant. The Maine legislature censured a Rep who spoke out a against a trans who won a women's sporting event. Now the Rep cannot vote or speak on the floor until she apologizes.

The 49ers are offering Purdy $45 million per year after his recent mediocre season. And that is apparently a beginning offer. He likely ends up with more. That's unreal. I would almost never resign a QB to a long-term deal after their rookie contract expires. Draft one every five years or so.

Is he planning on throwing the ball to himself?

Those astronauts who have been stuck in space for months with no end in sight must be going nuts. I'm not sure I would be in a rush to be rescued in one of those Space X rockets that keep blowing up, though.

ESPN paying commentator Stephen A. Smith $100 million. Good grief. Does Smith generate $100 million in profit for ESPN? He can be amusing with his over-the-top takes but that is ridiculous. No wonder ESPN is going under.

It’s ok, I am hoping they can Patrick Mahomes his deal.

Pay him a billion dollars, then constantly restructure his contract, paying him $22 a year for the next 10,000 years.

The NFL salary cap is a joke.

I am more worried about the 49ers buying my football team in the UK . It would mean that both of the teams i follow ( different countries of the UK ) would be owned by FSG AND 49ERS . Not great for a Cowboys and Rangers fan
