Things that annoy me (6 Viewers)

They have an impossible job. So many passengers and with the greedy airlines charging for checked luggage, people carry everything possible on the plane. Nevertheless, there are no consistent rules and the TSA agents are often rude. No excuse for that. That is incompetence in oversight and training. There should be background checks and profiling before a passenger even arrives at the airport. No reason to randomly select some kid or grandmother for a search and let suspect folks walk through security. That is insanity. The fact is that certain people have greater risks factors than others. TSA should direct their attention to such people. If those people are upset about it, they have the option not to fly. Never happen though. We are living in an age of idiocracy.

Another great post that truly sums up the TSA.

My daughter's college typically has a Spring day trip to NYC. This year most of the students have decided they don't want to go due to the crime situation. I can't say that I blame them, but it's unfortunate that things have reached that point. It is like the 1970s all over again.

In one of the absolute worst competitions ever I think San Francisco beats NYC on this one.

NASA announcing they are going to fly AROUND the moon in 2024. Didn't we land on the moon about five decades ago using a calculator and tin can? But this is a big deal? Why are they even doing this? It sounds like an expensive stunt to justify their budget. By this point, we should have those flying cars and sex robots they promised decades ago. That would be real scientific progress.

The relentless self-promotion of a show as I'm watching it. AMC is the absolute worst. If you are watching "Walking Dead," "Lucky Hank" or any of their original programming, they show commercial after commercial for that same show. As though you were unaware of the series that is playing before your very eyes.

Sports betting segments/ads during sporting events drive me absolutely nutz. Gotten to the point where I won't watch any pre or post game shows because of all the betting crapola going on. I see that ESPN is reporting that the major sports leagues are now banding together to try and control all the betting ads and their influence. We'll see how that goes. Kind of has the feel of shutting the barn door after the horses have fled... -- Al

How about all betting ads period.

Reviews on Amazon - most of them I take with a pinch of salt - but the ones's where someone gives a product one star because it did not arrive in time for 'little Johnnies' birthday - annoy me.

Getting old. Vastly overrated. Seeing Jack Nicholson at the Lakers game last night was a flashback to the great Showtime era. Hard to believe that was 40 years ago now. I visited my college a couple years ago and realized the kids attending now were not born when I graduated. In some cases, their parents may not have been born. Sometimes the minutes drag, but the years fly by (as someone said).

Most annoying trend in the NBA? When they inbound the ball and let it roll and roll and roll down the court before touching it. I supposed they are trying to get an extra couple of seconds before the shot clock starts but it is maddening to watch.

When referring to getting older, my father had a favorite saying, "The Golden Years...BS!". And it is the truth. {eek3} -- Al

Regards getting older, a friend of mine, who is retired, when spotting his father walking along the promenade in Portobello, some years ago said -"How is life Dad?! He received the reply - "Better than the b***** alternative!"
A position that I try to adopt as I get older.

Blackbob.

I guess Howard Stern got over his COVID paranoia. He is apparently showing up for Knicks games and complaining that the players aren't greeting him. Suggesting that is because he is white. It's hard to believe this is the same guy who stood up for the First Amendment and took on the government decades ago. He has become a complete celebrity sell out.

The milkshake machine at McDonald's. Always broken. I never go there but my kids always do. And they want milkshakes. I tell them, they never work. We get there and they are broken.

Using Eli and Peyton Manning in ads to promote the NBA finals. I don't get that one. Doesn't the NBA have any stars to promote their own league? How much is enough with the Mannings? They were amusing at first but more overexposed than the Kardashians.

The sun is the only thing that is overexposed more than the Kardashians.

The fact that social distancing has disappeared.

Trust me, the line is not going to move any faster if you stand closer to me.

I always love it when you are not standing right up on the person in front of you in line and someone comes along and asks if you are in line. Like you would just happen to be standing there for no good reason. It's like at the airport when they are getting ready to board and everyone jumps into line. They have assigned seats. The plane is not leaving until everyone gets on. A herding instinct.

Say what you will about the Unabomber who passed away today but his philosophy about mankind becoming slaves of technology was dead on. It's unreal how much has changed in just the last few decades. You can't go anywhere where people are not staring at their phones. My son would be on his computer from dawn until he collapsed from exhaustion if given the opportunity. Every kid I know is exactly the same. Adults are not much better.
