Things that annoy me (5 Viewers)

Seeing more of the so called protestors, I call them terrorists and what they were chanting, doing and what they did, I am just absolutely floored that anything of any magnitude like that happened where it did. Why is this tolerated. Where is the current President and Vice President in this instance? Crickets. Exactly. Utter disgrace of leadership.

And before this is reported as political, I would say no, this is historical and my comments are factual. Anyone who thinks this is ok, I am sorry, but I cannot agree with that.

What may be worse is the fact that a material number of our leaders did not meet with our biggest ally in the World today when he was in Washington. That is disgraceful too. Literally speaking right now, Israel is one of our only true friends.

I can't imagine that if I went into DC and started spray painting monuments and starting fires that it would take more than 5 seconds for the police to respond and arrest me. I can't fathom how a mob can do so for hours on end. And the police only intervene after the damage is done. Often making no arrests or, if they bother to arrest anyone, prosecute them. All the protestors on the Columbia campus were released. Ultimately, I don't blame just the protestors. Citizens get the government that they deserve. He have elected folks who condone this behavior. I don't see that changing. In PA we have 50 days of early voting. Think of all that has gone on in the political arena over the last 50 days. How can anyone make an informed decision on a candidate almost two months before an election when so much can change from day to day? There should be a national holiday on election day and everyone should go to the polls. Never going to happen, though. That genie is out of the bottle.

And if those same people do gain the upper hand, all those useful idiots being used today, may finally realise they were duped, just before they get to experience flight, but without wings, from the roof of a multi-story building.
As Prime Minister Netanyahu said yesterday, "They might as well carry signs that say, 'Chickens for KFC'!"

Don't blame the police. They are told by politicians what and what not to do. If it was strictly up to the police it would be less than 5 minutes before people would be locked up. Again if it was just up to the police about the first 4 or 5 would resist and after that the others would see what happens when you resist and they would either walk away are walk peacefully directly to the paddy wagon.

I have great sympathy for the police. They have been let down by politicians and citizens who elect them. Nevertheless, they still have a duty to enforce the laws. If the police observe someone committing a crime, they should intervene and stop it. They don't need permission. If some politician wants to take issue with enforcing the law, let them air that in the media and see where it ends up. Unfortunately, I do think a lot of law enforcement officers that have been hired over the last few years no longer care. They are becoming part of the problem. Same deal at the border. The US has immigration laws. If you are a border agent, you should enforce those laws. No politician can order anyone to ignore the laws. If they don't like the law, then change it.

The Olympics. There is a lot less media hype this year and Paris is a great city to have it, but it's a concept that feels forced. Some inertia from the past compelling us to forever have these games. Many of the US athletes are arrogant and unlikeable. I'll take a pass.

I'm still going to watch it; I like the fact that these athletes represent their country, plus a lot of the events are of interest to me.

I am able to separate the fact that they all used to be amateur athletes but now the truth is most of them are professional athletes or make a **** ton of money on endorsements and the like, so the whole "amateur" aspect is no longer in play.

I like the idea of having the Opening Ceremonies on the Seine, as well as some of the competitions. The Seine hasn’t been swimmable for over 100 years and now it is. That, in and of itself, is a great thing and if that’s the only positive that comes out of the Olympics for France, it will have been worth it.

I wonder how many more Olympic games, Commonwealth games etc will be held, not so many I think.
The World just seems to have lost interest in the original ideals !

I may have already complained about this but it's worth another go! ha ha

Drives me nuts when I go to the gym and there isn't a soul anywhere to be seen in the locker room. I pick a locker and start changing and BANG- NEVER FAILS- some old dude spawns out of nowhere and will ALWAYS pick the locker RIGHT NEXT TO ME- Like there isn't 10,000 other lockers in the **** place but you HAVE TO pick the one right next to me- I swear it happens more than I'd like to admit. Like I need to see your 80 year old danglers at 5 am when I am trying to get changed- it's a gross violation of the man code- If I go into the locker room and see another dude, I take a hike, be respectful and move to the other aisle, row, etc- but NOPE- these guys NEVER fail to pick the lockers right next to me.

Maybe they want someone to catch them in case they keel over? :)

My gym complaint is people who get on a piece of equipment, do one set of reps, then whip out their cell phone and read it for 10 minutes before doing another set. I know you have to let your muscles recover after a set, but one minute should do it.

Not a fan of the Olympics. I'd rather see the games return to the core athletic events, basically the track and field events, swimming, wrestling. Events that showcase basic human physical skill. I have never agreed with seeing team sports like baseball or basketball added, and then to see professional athletes from those sports participate. Or golf, much as I enjoy playing it and following professional golf. Things like that. That's a farce.

I didn’t realize that you were that old as basketball has been in the Olympics since 1936. Your age belies your youthful appearance :ROFLMAO:

For me the Olympics will always be best exemplified by the US victory over the Russians in hockey in 1980.

Professionals being put in their place by “amateurs” who had day jobs and little or no NHL/Pro aspirations.

That might be the best moment in the history of sport.

In the Olympics I have no interest in cheering for pampered millionaire athletes who are competing against people who simply want to represent their country while they have part-time jobs as laborers, cooks, cleaners, etc.

I’m a tennis fan so I enjoy seeing the pros trying to win a title for their country, a title which they’re passionate about. So far very few players have managed to achieve a golden slam, winning the Olympics and the other Grand Slams (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open).

In a perfect world that would work, lock them up no matter what. Not these days. You know who would be indicted if things went south? The police. You say they don't need permission? WRONG. The police department is a semi military organization The patrolmen take orders from the sergeant, the sergeant from the lieutenant and so forth. I did the job for 40 years I kinda know what I'm talking about.

I agree on the one set then sit there and play with the phone. If I see that happening and I want to use that piece of equipment I politely ask them can I use it. My big peeve are people who when lifting weights let out loud grunts. You look and they really are not lifting that much weight. It seems they are trying to impress somebody, not me. And my number one gripe. People who drop the weights.

Brad:

I respect your point.

The problem was there were only 29 Park Police assigned to monitor thousands of protestors (from a report I heard). Police did try to intervene. I watched a video as they attempted to arrest of several protestors but the police themselves were being attacked. They were outmanned.
