If I was on the fence about watching the Olympics, the drag queens sealed the deal. I'll pass.So they're still having Olympics?

The Olympic organizers make decisions about the performers at the opening ceremonies. If they had allowed Hamas to perform a skit, I'm pretty sure you would have a different opinion. I'll pass until someone in charge decides not to celebrate anti-Christian bigotry. The opening ceremonies are like the Super Bowl halftime show. They have nothing to do with the competitions and are completely different activities; they’re show biz. I never watch them and won’t at all affect my watching of the competition.
Have to agree with Brad on this one; the next time I watch the opening ceremonies will be the first time............well make that the second time, I watched both the opening and closing ceremonies when the Olympics were held in Greece over 20 years ago, both were spectacular and gave me a great sense of pride while watching them being half Greek. The opening ceremonies are like the Super Bowl halftime show. They have nothing to do with the competitions and are completely different activities; they’re show biz. I never watch them and won’t at all affect my watching of the competition.
Actually, no. It has nothing to do with the actual competitions. The Olympic organizers make decisions about the performers at the opening ceremonies. No one said it has anything to do with the "actual competitions." It is, however, part of the Olympics. The Olympics are about much more than the actual games. The organizers of the Olympics select the performers. It reflects on the entire event. It was not just bad taste but offensive to an entire religion. Anyone who opposes religious bigotry, whether against Jews, Muslims or any other religion should be disgusted.Actually, no. It has nothing to do with the actual competitions.
Trying to parse the Olympic opening ceremonies from the Olympics to excuse religious bigotry is weak sauce. And what difference would it make even if you want to think they are not a part of the games? Religious bigotry is religious bigotry no matter where it happens. With millions of people watching, it is inexcusable. I would think that particularly in these times when there is widespread anti-Semitism that such conduct would not be excused. But I guess I'm wrong. The Olympics are the games. They are tournaments for the individual sports. The opening and closing ceremonies are fluff. If you don’t care to watch, no one says you have to.
Having to explain a decision you have made, like not wanting to go somewhere, now i just say "i am an adult and i just do not want too". Also having to explain why i do not have a television or when i out and have not got my mobile phone with me.3) People who mow their lawn more than twice a week. This is a Euphemism where i am from?
4) People who have yard sales and/or those that decide to suddenly stop in the road for said purpose. I know and when you want to buy the 'Yard' they say it is not for sale
5) Restaurant servers asking if I have been there before as though that makes some difference in my ability to read the menu. Have a friend who says yes and he got food poisoning last time he was there and was on the toilet for 2 days, but he is constaipated now and is hoping a meal there will cure it...........stops all server conversations. He also sometimes wears a christmas jumper or t shirt in the summer when he goes into town and leaves his hair a bit messy, because he says no one screws with you if you do that.
8) Flying anywhere with all the torture associated with air travel. agree, have not been a plane since 2019 and do not miss it.
9) Going to the doctor and waiting hours after my appointment time to get in for five minutes. I have to laugh at the criticism that "socialized medicine" Only in the US do you call it "socialized medicine", the rest us just call it something like a National Health Service. Works along the same lines as the military, paid for through taxes for the good of all, no one calls it a "Socialized Navy".
10) Self-serve check outs at stores. There is always some person monitoring them which seemingly defeats the purpose even assuming that they work - which they usually do not. Still way cheaper as they can monitor 10 or 12 rather than stood on a till. Where you would queue as only 1 or 2 checkouts are open out of 6 or 7 available.
11) Being told that you can only buy tickets to a sports event via your mobile phone. No paper tickets. Ridiculous. Or when they restrict it to only certain sponsors credit cards.
I agree, the opening ceremony is very much part of the Olympics and there would have been a more dramatic response if it included Anti Semetic or Anti Muslim content. No one said it has anything to do with the "actual competitions." It is, however, part of the Olympics. The Olympics are about much more than the actual games. The organizers of the Olympics select the performers. It reflects on the entire event. And then "forget" to pay for it leaving the empty wrapper somewhere in the store.People who open food and eat it in grocery stores as they shop.
The "creative" types conflate being offensive with art. They want to portray themselves as provocative. But they are very careful about who they offend. Why didn't they have drag queens portray Mohammed? Because they are cowardly and know that might result in violence. They only target those that they know will not retaliate. The very society that gives them the right to express their opinions instead of repressing them. This is a shameful event. Apologizing after the fact doesn't change that.I agree, the opening ceremony is very much part of the Olympics and there would have been a more dramatic response if it included Anti Semetic or Anti Muslim content.
But why are we surprised, the French seem to have trouble getting anything right, for example they confused South Korea with North Korea, the Olympic flag was upsidedown and they included Celine Dion
