Things that annoy me (2 Viewers)

All,

No extra french fries in my Mcdonalds bag when I need that last couple of fries to feel satisfied.

Contactors, in this case a plumber, who won't answer phones or texts regarding work that needs to be done. After two days this guy returned a call and said he could do the job later this week. I told him I was waiting for parts to arrive. He said okay and let him know. Called back later that day to say parts had arrived and texted next day. No replies. Now trying to contact another plumber. Frustrating. Chris

Chris...
hope you find one and when you do he does a great job...
and...
you can tell your original...
don't need you anymore...
you never returned my call...
job completed...

Thanks Mike. Plumber #1 finally called and is coming out tomorrow. Plumber #2 never returned a call. #1 has previously done work for me and does a good job. I would have ditched him but wanted to end the search and get the job done. Wears me out. :rolleyes2: Chris

I'm always misplacing my glasses and cell phone. Amazing how they can go missing in my home. I can conduct a complete search and never find them only to randomly discover them at some later time in plain sight. Clutter is my other recent beef. An amazing amount of stuff can accumulate in your house. My basement and garage are full of things that I never use or can even remember ever needing. I'm aiming for a minimalist home when I retire.

I told my wife, our sons will have to rent a dump truck when they inherit our home (hopefully not anytime soon). And I blame her. Chris

Terp,

I feel your pain. Contractors are the worst sometimes. They are good at what they do but are terrible at customer service.

All,

When you call the VA...get disconnected two times mid sentence...call a third time and the VA rep has the worst attitude in the history of VA phone calls.

Excerpt:

ME: I'm calling because the VA has not followed up with me on my appointment that it in my records for you to contact me.

VA: You don't contact us, we contact you.

ME: Right, that is why I'm calling you have not contacted me.

VA: Sir, if the VA needs to contact you, they will, there is no need for you to contact us.

ME: Okay, well the appointment in question is next month and I have yet to receive ANY correspondence that is set, confirmed or even made. This is not how the VA works as I get notifications of ANY appointment months in advance. If I miss an appointment with VA, its curtains for me and I have been waiting a year for this appointment.

VA: You may have to wait three years be contacted. Is there anything else I can do for you?

ME: I'm not going to wait three years, especially if y'all told ME to see YOU in APRIL OF 2021.

VA: Please hold...

2 minutes later ala SpongeBob

VA: I'll send out a request to Houston about this but...WHEN AND WHERE DOES IT SAY THIS?

Me: Hold on I have the file right here, are you ready to copy? I can email this to you.

VA: Sir, we DON'T ACCEPT emails from YOU.

Me. Okay...are you ready to copy? I'll read it verbatim...

And I did, and the next 5 minutes was dedicated to reading the letters, dates, request, notifications and what ever the hell else they wanted in order for me to PROVE that I wasn't making this up. She was rude, unprofessional and most of all her attitude was ANNOYING. Why? Because her attitude didn't need to be spewed over the phone to me. Having a bad day? Take a break and get a Starbucks. Mad at your job? Find another one. Mad at the world? Get counseling. But don't be a jerk to me. That was just an excerpt from a longer conversation, but what stuck in my mind was her attitude and the rush to say, "Is there any thing else I can do for you?"What makes the whole situation worse is that she ended our conversation by saying:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE and hung up.

Okay...thanks.

John I was wondering if this whole exchange was tongue in cheek. As a fellow vet I'm truly sorry you experienced such an unprofessional VA rep. No excuse for that. However, I've been enrolled in the VA healthcare system for about the past 9 mos. In that time I've been treated with the utmost courtesy and respect. My experience has been nothing but positive.

I hope you meet with better treatment the next time you deal with the VA. Chris

Chris,

Let me first say that I too have been treated with the utmost respect and care since being in the VA system from day one. This exchange kind sir was the first of its kind. Which is why I am little butt hurt over the conversation and am still reeling from the sour attitude of the rep on the phone as it is not representative of every single interaction I have had with the VA, whether on the phone or in person.

There was no tongue in cheek as I would have made fun, forgot about it or laughed. This was completely adversarial in nature and believe you me I tried to make every connection to the rep via the phone to smooth out the call. In fact, when I got off the phone my son who happened to be close by and listening said, "Dad, you got more patience than me". I don't wake up in the morning ready to do battle when I have to deal with the VA, in fact quite the opposite. So, that is why I was (and still am) stewing over her piss poor attitude towards me and NOT trying to find a solution, rather rushing to get to her famous line of "Is there anything else I can do" as if she has done everything to mitigate the problem.

It takes a lot for me to get riled up and somehow or another this rep forgot her place as I don't answer to her, the VA answers to me...and you...and every other vet out there...and the taxpayer.

Best,

John from Texas
