Things that I really like (1 Viewer)

Maybe because my best friend is a firefighter like his Dad before him, I am always inspired by the heroic work of our FD & PD. I have to give them "cred'". Some more figures representing Cops and Firemen might be nice. K&C?
PS - re: insomnia...
Beware Daylight Savings Time{eek3}.
(not that it'll make much difference to me, grumble)

Anyone who thinks their own life is full of difficulties should take some inspiration from Paul Alexander who just passed. He spent 70 of his 78 years living in an "iron lung" after contracting polio. He managed to pass the bar exam and become an attorney.

Paul Alexander, 78-year-old Dallas man who lived in an iron lung for most of his life, dies - CBS Texas (cbsnews.com)

I couldn’t live like that. He contracted polio in 1952. In those days (I was born in 1950), until they invented the vaccine, a parent’s biggest fear was that their child would get polio.

That man is truly amazing. An inspiration when things get tough. Glad he was brave enough to live a good life.
My uncle contracted polio in a WI lake in 1951. Grandma was heartbroken. She even felt guilty. But the good news is he just turned 77 and he's doing pretty good so there is always a bright side if you hand in there.
Best Wishes

The Trailer Park Boys: "Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys." Absolutely hilarious on Netflix. Even if you haven't watched the show, this mini-movie is great stuff. Mr. Lahey is comedy gold. The funniest character in modern comedy.

"The Burbs." Watched this Tom Hanks movie from 1989 on Netflix. It's held up well. Hilarious. "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" of its time.

"Compliance." Wow - this is a super creepy movie on Prime. All the more since it is based on a true story about some guy who called a fast-food restaurant while posing as a cop and unbelievably convinced the manager to strip search one of her employees. It's brutal to watch. There is also a documentary on the actual event. Turns out there was a chain of such incidents once the police started looking into it.

"A Gentleman in Moscow." Excellent series starting on Showtime. Based on the Amor Towles books. Russian aristocrat is exiled during the Russian revolution to the ritzy Metropol hotel where he can't leave.

This is the first time that I have ever watched the NCAA women's basketball tourny. Some great teams and storylines this year. The LSU-Iowa rematch will be a war.

I follow this sport from afar because of Stanford.

With that being said it really needs more upsets before it lands. Outside of the top 4 no one has a shot.

I was pulling for USC last night considering their academic standing amongst the remaining teams.

Yes, I was hoping USC could pull that one out but UConn is a machine. I don't follow women's basketball closely, but they indicated their coach had won 11 titles! Unreal. And he looked half asleep. They are in the final four despite five players being out with injuries. Clark was off the charts in that Iowa game. She had a Jerry West like performance. I thought LSU was a class act despite all the media portrayals. Not much complaining about some questionable calls etc. They somehow missed coming out for the national anthem but indicated that was not intentional.

Agree, LSU has been the most maligned program, I hope they sue WAPO and the La Times. Talk about making shiite up for a nickel. Holy smokes. The LSU coach sounded pretty darned determined to go after the papers, I hope she does. I think LA Times already issued an apology, if I were here, I would still try to boil them. You can't take back what is already printed. I usually am a big proponent of free speech, but I don't agree with malicious attacks that are self serving.

All of the above said, happy for Clark in Iowa, she is amazing. BUT UConn just seems unbeatable.

TD

PS Texas Women were so flat Easter Sunday, it was tough to watch that one. They got legit beat down by NC State.

"Parasyte - The Grey" on Netflix. This is an entertaining and fast paced Sci Fi show. Well acted. "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" but with some several twists. I like it better than "3 Body Problem" which is also good. More action.

I've been watching 3 Body Problem and I like it. Have 1 more episode to go.

I hope 3 Body Problem has another season. If not that's a hell of a way to end it.

J.K. Rowling. I've never read the Harry Potter books but I do admire her courage in standing up to the insanity going on in our culture. She is almost a singular example of someone of her celebrity status to do so. Others have capitulated for fear of social media criticism or being cancelled.

Bill Nye, the science guy, trying to spin the cloud cover that will obscure the solar eclipse by noting that it will still be amazing because it will "get dark." LOL. Wait a few more hours and it will "get dark" again - at night.
