Things that I really like (1 Viewer)

I used to really hate the idea of revisiting the classics but recently there have been some good efforts to do so. Those include books like "Julia" which is an alternative take on Orwell's 1984 as told from the perspective of one of the main female characters. Also "Haunting on the Hill" which is a sequel to Shirley Jackson's "Haunting of Hill House." I also saw "Apartment 7a" which is a prequel to "Rosemary's Baby." That movie isn't great but it's interesting to watch if you are familiar with the classic movie. Fills in a lot of gaps.

I'm not a fan of President Biden but thought he was very gracious today. How much of that is spite against his own VP is unknown, but great for the country to see him having a civil meeting with Trump. Political campaigns are tough. When they are over, they are over. Both sides need to move on. The Republicans have the presidency, senate, and house. They have two years to fix the disasters of the last four. No excuses.

Agreed, he was extremely gracious.

I may not agree with a lot of his policies, but I feel for how he was treated/shoved aside/replaced, he served his entire life in politics, not the way he wanted to go out I'm sure.

What's done is done and like you said, time to move on.

Great post.

I am already exhausted by the Republicans gloating about winning and the Democrats whining about losing.

The vandals who poured paint on the case protecting the US Constitution were sentenced to 18 and 24 mos respectively. Also have to pay the $50K cleanup cost. One miscreant has a history of burglary and other crimes. Wish the prison terms could have been longer but at least it wasn't catch and release.
Does anyone know if the case has been tried of those who painted Stonehenge?

Those types are down there with those that damage war memorials and cemeteries, minimum 5 years sentence imo.

The latest I've heard Chris is that a third person has also been charged. As to what will result, probably not much, a possible short sentence, if so, I bet it'll be shorter than those who said or wrote hurty words.

The vandals in the attack on the US Constitution were originally charged with misdemeanors, which would have meant catch and release. THe Chief Archivist, responsible for the document, spoke to the court and charges were upgraded to felonies. That in itself was a miracle.

"Young Woman and the Sea" on Disney+. I usually shy away from these types of movies as potential woke message movies but this one is fantastic. The story of Trudy Ederle who was the first woman to swim the English Channel in 1926. Some of the facts are dramatized but otherwise a great movie.

Ellen DeGeneres leaving the US for England. That's payback for sending us Prince Harry. And Elon Musk perhaps buying MSNBC. Can it get much better than that?
