This day in History (4 Viewers)

I wrote about a factual piece of history from 1945, he sent a YouTube clip of modern Soviet media? I know Russian propaganda is good but can they possibly convince people that YouTube was around in the 1940’s?

It was the 30's Panzer...get it right.

Tank forgot to add this clip from the Soviet Union's popular morning show...

"Perhaps you notice, while workers are taking pictures of new shoes-new Soviet mini-cam!"
Thanks for the clip. That was funny. :salute::
That is amazing how many people stuck in the Cold War era.

Here is one more clip for you so you would see the difference between Americans and Russians.

Cheers.

Hi tank,
How is the weather in New Zealand?

John from Texas

PS: Never heard of RT.

Hi John.

Here is an update for the weather in NZ.
Last Monday and Tuesday were windy what is normal for Wellington but the rest of the week was really warm and sunny.
How is the weather in Texas.

That is funny you don’t know about the RT.
You should try it and you would know why so many people watching the PT.

Cheers.
Tank.

What is amazing is that you left Russia 20 years ago and now live in a nice Western country like NZ. Yet you spend all your time here trying to tell us how good Russia(ns) are. We don't need to look at your clips to know Russians would be much better leaving their country and moving to a Western country, just like you did. Well done.

I would have to agree. Seems incredible that one has chosen to live in a modern democratically led country such as NZ for a number of years by all accounts, but spends most of their time praising the virtues of a communist dictatorship.

I would much prefer “Tank” shared his inner thoughts about the hobby itself and the pleasures it gives him rather than all the other political rhetoric that he seems convinced we all need to know about.

Thanks for the clip. That was funny. :salute::

Thanks, it's from SCTV, Second City TV. Canadian sketch comedy started back in the late 70s or so, with a lot of running characters carried over many sketches and seasons.

It got picked up on American TV for a couple of seasons as a 90-minute show in the early 80s. They did a lot of great sketches, and on the American show, there was usually a theme to wrap around them. That clip was from an episode in which the Soviets were jamming the station's satellite signal and broadcasting Russian shows to its viewers. Shows like, "What Fits Inside Mother Russia?" (Tank would like that one); "Uposkrabbelnik" (the Russian version of "Scrabble"); "Tibor's Tractor", in which the ghost of the late Nikita Khrushchev inhabits a good comrade's tractor (a la "My Mother the Car"); and "Hey, Giorgy!" about everyone's favorite Cossack. And repeated public service announcements warning good Soviet citizens about Uzbeks, "the weak link in the great chain of Socialism". "Do not give the money, or fire."

Notable alumni of the troupe: John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Catherine O'Hara, Joe Flaherty, Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas.

One of my favorite shows back then.

Prost!
Brad

On February 12, 1988, an incident occurred off the coast of Crimea that could provoke a military crisis in the Black Sea similar to the Caribbean.

The missile cruiser Yorktown and the destroyer Caron of the US Navy did not respond to the warnings of the Soviet guard ships Bezavezhetny and SKR-6 and entered the territorial waters of the USSR. Soviet sailors went to intercept and, not having received permission to use weapons, went to ram.

Today in the History.

Russian President Vladimir Putin opposed the introduction of the definitions of “parent No. 1” and “parent No. 2” in the country. According to him, while he occupies the highest position of the country, there will be no legalization of same-sex marriage.

“As for“ parent number 1 and parent number 2 ”- I’ve already said and I will repeat once again, while I’m president, we will not have parents 1 and 2 - we will have dad and mom,” Putin said on meeting with a working group to prepare amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

Can the West ever understand Russia?

First Chancellor of the German Empire Bismarck about Russia and Russians

• Preventive war against Russia - suicide due to fear of death.

• Russians cannot be defeated, we have seen this for hundreds of years. But Russians can instill false values and then they will defeat themselves.

• Do not hope that once you take advantage of Russia's weakness, you will receive dividends forever. Russians always come for their money. And when they come, don’t rely on the Jesuit agreements that you have signed, supposedly supporting you. They are not worth the paper on which they are written. Therefore, it is worth playing with the Russians honestly, or not at all.

• Never fight with Russians. They will respond to each of your military tricks with unpredictable stupidity.

• Russians harness for a long time, but drive fast.

23 September 1803 near Assaye in western India where an outnumbered Indian and British force under the command of Major General Arthur Wellesley (who later became the Duke of Wellington) defeated a combined Maratha army of Daulatrao Scindia and the Bhonsle Raja of Berar. The battle was the Duke of Wellington's first major victory and the one he later described as his finest accomplishment on the battlefield, even more so than his more famous victories in the Peninsular War, and his defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo.

This famous battle is now being recreated by John Jenkins, and the first of the Madras Native Infantry troops have just been released and I'm looking forward to rest of this series in the coming years.

Add another casualty to the total at Gettysburg. This is the second tourist to be injured on Devil's Den in the last few months:

A man in his 40s was injured when he fell between the rocks at Devil's Den Tuesday afternoon.
According to Jason Martz, the spokesperson for the Gettysburg Military Park, the man was found by a school chaperone who arrived early to Devil's Den.
