Trophy of Wales (3 Viewers)

Nothing changes, Afghanistan 130 years ago.

In 1879 the British Army are not only fighting the Zulus

Here you see Afghans lying in wait to ambush a British patrol. The Afghan leader has a pair of binoculars, his deputy is checking for the position of the sun while two snipers are ready to open fire, and they even have a female recruit.

When were these sets made?

Hi Raymond

Please post some pictures of your 21st Lancers, I managed to find a 21st Officer, 21st Trumpeter and 21st Sergeant but am sorely lacking in OR's

Cheers

Martyn:)

Hello Martyn,

Here is an image of my sole 21st Lancer Trooper by Trophy.

It came without the original box, so I am not sure of the set number.

I have the officer with revolver too, but no Sgt with sword.

The image is the seller's.

If you can identify the background, you can tell who I bought it from.

Best, Raymond.

Hello Martyn,

Are you sure this is "TROPHY set number TD8" ?

Seems unlikley to be one of the missing TD5, TD6, TD7, TD8 and TD9 sets from the AZW series or.....

Female recruit..... I am not so sure.....

Looks like she could well be calling the shots up there.

Can you see the flash suppressor of the AK-47 sticking out from under her white cloak? ;)

Or is he in disguise ?

Best, Raymond. :)

Hi Damian

I use photobucket to display all my pictures therefore if you can see one you should be able to see them all.

Cheers

Martyn:)

I am not sure what the problem is. I can see Joe's pictures, but your s od not seem to opne on my computer. I am using a linux based system so I am not sure if that is the problem.
I will keep working on it.
Regards
Damian

Hi Raymond

It definitely is set TD8, I’ve attached a scan of a page from an early 1990’s catalogue with the set details

TD8----THE LOOK—OUT SET

I added the female for a bit of dramatic licence, but she is a Trophy figure;)

I would love to see a list of all TD sets, does anyone have one they could share?

Cheers

Martyn:)

Good Morning Martyn,

Thanks very much for the confirmation of TD8.

Your image is just superb, with or without the femme fatale.

One for the album for sure.

And you are right, nothing has changed.

It still is "Carry on up the Khyber".....

Best, Raymond. :)

Hi Raymond a very good morning to you too

Away from the Zulu War for a minute or two

1884 SUDAN

Here a unit of Black Watch, though greatly out numbered, repel a Dervish force.

Very cool Martyn. Everything fits together so well, that backdrop makes the scene seem to go on forever.

I feel kind of lucky having some of those figures there. I buy standard bearers and drummers, buglers, that sort of figure appeals to me. Nice set up Martyn:)

Martyn,
Scott is right on the money! Perfect and :)
Seamless as Mother Nature herself!
Mike

Thank you k v and Mike

I was very lucky to find quite a few Sudan and Egypt related sets, these included 11 Dervish sets:eek::cool: Just like Zulus, you can never have enough Dervish;)

Cheers

Martyn:)

That td 8 set is nice. What i like about the trophy afghan sets is that they all seem to come with different color clothes. Its like no 2 sets are the same. Has anybody else noticed this with their afghan sets?

On the other hand, those Mahdi followers, the fuzzy-wuzzy dervishes, look like bloody clowns in those techni-color dreamcoats!:p

It's nice seeing you kicking off the 3rd year of the Thread Martyn with your newly acquired Throphy figures and looking forward to seeing many addtional photos headed our way as you continue to share your fun time with your collection......The Lt.
