Trophy - zulu war sets (1 Viewer)

I'm sure your Naval Brigade was extremely pleased with the new addition to it's ranks as you were my Aide de Camp. Has anything else arrived from England to support Chemsford as he's preparing his second invasion against King Cetshwayo and his Zulu Regiments?

Unfortunately, the answer is no, My Lord, as the Home Office will no longer foot the Exchequer for this little colonial war this month!

Sorry to hear that my Aide de Camp and hope it's resolved for the coming month.

This is a nice set, is the gun a Trophy one as it seems slightly different to the ones I have?

Cheers

Martyn:)

Martyn,
It does look eerily similar to a Mountford artillery piece I have, but was assured that it came in the original set by the previous owner. It is also damaged on the two wheels being "squished" a little...I remember a package that looked like that after a bad deploy in Air Assault School:eek:
Thoughts?
Mike

Hi Mike

I think the Naval Brigade gun crew figures you have are from Trophy Boer War set DBEQ12, the shell the sailor is holding is too big for the howitzer.

Here is a picture of two figures I have showing the difference in shell sizes

Here is another picture, this time with the rack of shells from set DBEQ12

The gun also looks like a Mountford artillery piece, none of my Trophy have seats with back rests

I will post pictures of my guns if you like, they are all the same except for paint finish and one has wheel chocks

Cheers

Martyn,
You could very well be on to something. The round is technically too big for the 9 or 12 pdr of 1879. The AZW guy, however is holding a shell for a breech loader, which was not used in the AZW, only RMLs. The guy in white is dressed in period except for the valise equipment, which is in fact from a later period, methinks. What a downer to learn the real pedigree, but also fun and exciting to do it, and to own it as well! Thanks!

Martyn,
Thanks for posting your beaut! You're right...differnt gun in all ways. No seats and painted brass on the breech end, with wheel coloring and double lined carriage. Poor me, I think I have a Mountford gun...I'll do some research and see if I can match it up with some of their older stuff.:)

Thanks Mike, on the positive side you have three very nice Trophy figures and a gun of, at the moment, unknown pedigree.

You've got me going on a Nautical theme now, more later..:D

These are beautiful LT. What great sets you, Martyn, Mike and others have. I hope WB switch in this direction and add few similar items for their Zulu War collection.

Lt.,

Congratulations on your new acquistion re: TD1 Battle Strategy.

Thanks for sharing with your excellent pictures which certainly do justice to this fine set.

Unfortunately, I have not this set yet.

Best Regards, Raymond.:)
