The figure of PVT WILLIAMS (ZS67 IN THE VC WINNERS SERIES) first appeared as PVT CHICK 1335 in THE DEFENCE OF ROURKE'S DRIFT set (#ZDRDD) with the thick base and then with the thinner terrain base in THE STOREHOUSE AT THE DRIFT set (#SRD)

Officially the HZ (Hand2Hand) series ended with HZ29 - DEADLY IMPACT, Close Encounters of the Deadliest Kind was released as set # HZ28

I have posted these pictures before but today is the 135th anniversary of the Defence of Rorkes Drift

The mealie bag wall is holding firm

Water is in short supply and a very precious commodity

The ammunition is being steadily used up and every means possible including bayonet and rifle butt is used to open new crates

The Redoubt is being stocked with supplies and men as a last defensive position

At 0815hrs on January 23rd Major Russell of the 12th Lancers arrived shortly followed by Lord Chelmsford and his staff, all are greeted by Lieutenant John Rouse Merriott Chard, Officer Commanding the Mission Station at Rourke’s Drift.
