Walking Dead (WARNING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS) (1 Viewer)

Pretty decent finale. The battle in the graveyard was the first creepy scene involving the zombies that I can remember since maybe the first couple of seasons. It reminded me a bit of John Carpenter's The Fog. I was hoping the zombies were evolving but it appears that they were just humans dressed as zombies and somehow guiding the herd. Jesus going out was an added bonus.
Interesting, as I was also hoping for an evolving danger from the zombies only to be surprised by the Whisperers hiding within the herd. I was watching Jesus get his and saying to myself 'Alright, a new, faster zombie' and then the mask came off. Oh well, it still promises to be an interesting threat, plus Negan is out and about. -- Al

Yes, I was excited about a new potential zombie menace but it is back to square one with another human threat. The scene were Jesus got stabbed reminded me of the ending of The Fog where the ghost pirate comes out of the fog and kills Hal Holbrook. I was thinking this show had gotten back to its horror roots and the reveal was disappointing. With Negan, I think his character has played out. Should have been killed off about three times by now. My guess is that they make short work of him.

Negan does have a somewhat charmed life, like Glenn. Rick should have killed him in the field under that tree or Maggie should have done it in the cell. Perhaps Negan will fall afoul of the Whisperers and have Lucille planted where the sun don't shine.^&grin -- Al

Reminder that TWD returns this Sunday, Feb.10, at 9pm. Psst, psst, psst...:wink2: -- Al

Reports say that the actress that plays Michonne will leave the show after next season, probably to join Andrew Lincoln in the Rick Grimes spin-off movies. She reportedly will appear in a hand-full of Season 10 episodes before saying AMF. -- Al

I can't see it going past next year but yet they say they have big plans for TWD universe.

Good grief. Judith has to be the most annoying character in TV history. Utterly Unwatchable.

And they’ve killed or gotten rid of all the good/interesting characters. It’s become a truly terrible show.

On the subject of interesting characters, perhaps the writers should just put Darryl and Carol on the road together, have them wander the wilderness, and just leave everyone else behind. Those two are the only characters I still find of interest...unless Negan returns to his evil ways. The rest of the current crop of characters is just blah and I have never been a fan of Michonne anyway. The show really needs to unfetter itself from all these communities and get back to basics. -- Al

I agree that the show is less with most of the main characters gone but I still enjoy it.I also like Judith, she's a cocky little mug.^&grin

At least the zombies are back. You have to take this show with a grain of salt or a bottle of TUMS. Judith is the stereotype Hollywood spunky kid. Packing heat and roaming about unattended during the zombie apocalypse. And Negan would obviously eat a tomato and go on a sightseeing tour prior to his escape. The most exciting things for me were the trailers for Pet Sematary and NOS4A2. Stephen King and son. Fred Gwynne was great in the original Pet Sematary movie.

The original Pet Semetery was a disturbing movie based on King's even more disturbing book. King kept this book from being published for years because even he thought it was too warped. -- Al

She just follows the steps or her brother

I have found the whole Judith character a bit much so far, from her roaming around alone in the extremely dangerous outside enviornment, to her choice of firearms. Now, a .357 Colt Python is a fine weapon, one of the nicest handguns ever made, but it is not a light weight weapon (about 2.5 lbs with a 6-inch barrel) nor is the recoil with full .357 magnum loads a particularly pleasant experience. Judith wields dad's Python as if it were made of plastic that weighs hardly anything (as it could well be as a prop gun). I suppose Judith could be using underpowered .38 caliber rounds, maybe even wadcutter target ammo, but that still would leave a 6 year old kid with a 2.5 pound handgun trying to control even a mild recoil. The writers obviously love the link to Rick with the hat and Python, but it would be a lot better for the kid if she carried a .380 or a .22. Alas, I do fear this minor point is lost in the greater tragedy of the zombie apocalypse.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Not to mention her complete lack of ear protection. A young person’s hearing could be permanently damaged firing that beast of a weapon!

Plus, she will probably have a permanent dent in her forehead from the barrel hitting her during recoil.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

Don't know if I can take another human super bad-a**. First the Governor, then Negan, now Alpha. It's all too familiar. The best thing about this new season, so far, is Darryl's increasingly large part. Need to get Carol reinvolved somewhere along the line. And someone give that kid Judith a Barby doll to play with instead of that .357! -- Al

I get the message loud and clear; it's not the zombies who you should fear/worry about the most, it's other humans...…….so rather than banding together and fighting the zombies, during such an event it's every man for himself, kill or be killed, one bad guy/girl after another, who do you trust, who do you not?

I get it...…………….

Remember: WD is based on a (so-called adult) comic book. I don’t read ACBs but my sense is they aren’t exactly Shakespeare. For some reason though, the WD writers want to lecture us like WD is a morality play. But that’s not why people watch it. They want Seinfeld. You know, A show about nothing. Albeit, in horror / action format, rather than comedic.

Sadly, the WDs terribly untalented writers think they have wisdom to impart. They don’t, beyond what Warriror said: given the opportunity, lots of people act like ****s. Oh really, what genius. 🙄🙄

That the WD folks still believe they can convey deep meaning in a zombie environment means they really have no clue what the shows viewers want.

This post should be bronzed.

So, so true; it's a show about nothing, stop trying to ram something down our collective throats we don't want and give us what we do want...……..zombies.

Come to think of it, just about every zombie movie has pretty much the same message they are trying to convey to the audience...……….zombies aren't bad, people are bad.

I have said several times that the writers need to do something about evolving the zombies into a more immediate threat, ie. mutate into a faster or more mobile zombie and once again become the major threat to the survivors. As things stand, the zombies are an afterthought. Now we have humans wearing zombie masks and hiding among the zombies. The zombies are essentially ineffectual, with only real unlucky people or morons falling victim to them. And just a thought, so many years into this apocalypse, why are all these zombies still around? Wouldn't most of them have starved or rotted away by now? They need to feed and there are not enough survivors around or getting caught to nourish them, and catching forest game has to be near impossible for these slow-moving dorks. -- Al
