I've not read a Max Hastings book before, however this was a really great and couldn't put it down. Operation Biting is the true story of a famous WW2 British special forces raid to capture key components of Germany's radar system from Nazi-occupied France. Highly recommend it if you enjoy this type of history.

Never read any of these. But, as a sci-fi fan, you have peaked my interest.
Paddy (Dad likes sci-fi as well but has little time to read fiction)

There are about 20 novels in the Halo series, with several different authors, I am a Sci Fi fan but I don't read a lot of novels as I'm mostly into non fiction, even then I'd rather watch than read. However I have re-read a lot of the Halo books, great military sc fi action with a decent backstory, they don't require much thinking, just a chapter or so each night before I hopefully fall to sleep. However with my ADHD I'm lucky to get much over Two hours sleep most nights, my brain is usually hyper between about 10 pm and 2 am

The latest 'Orphan X' book by Gregg Hurwitz only released last week here. Thoroughly enjoy this series and never disappoints......

Knew about the raid, it's quite famous for those who read WWII history, but not read this book and sounds interesting. BTW, what is the title? Don't see it on the photo but may have missed it.

The American Short Story The Nineteenth Century. Been waiting for this to be published, 800 pages and this is only volume! W Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow, M Twain of course, Poe, Melville, M Alcott, W Austin's The Missing Man, many others. This was the best short story period for me. Have not read short stories in quite some time but couldn't resist this one.

The title is 'Operation Biting' and the photo of the front cover is on the previous page (#97). I enjoyed it as Max Hastings covers off the French resistance intel gathering for the raid, plus the German angle and all the players. Plus it wasn't a heavy read, like some historians are. Enjoy.
