What else do you collect beside toy soldiers (2 Viewers)

Many thanks Buster :salute::

This is one of my favorites, the jacket has a full painted back and represents a flyer from the 499th Bombardment Squadron, 345th Bombardment Group, 5th USAAF. The Captains bars are original WW2 Sterling silver.

Love the Air Apaches patch. Used to own an original patch years ago but sold it to a patch collector who just had to have it. Hickey's book on the 345th BG is outstanding. -- Al

I have always wanted to add a Meiji Period Military Doll to my collection, so when a dealer accepted my offer on these two Japanese General Dolls, with their original wood boxes, I was thrilled. The standing figure is a Lt.General, and the seated figure is a Full General. Both have tiny Samurai Swords (Katanas) with real steel blades that come out of the scabbards. They are on display with my Model 1895 Japanese Staff Officer's Uniform and an authentic Samurai Sword made circa 1650:

I managed to purchase the above depicted wonderful Harwin British Infantryman (Tommy) doll made circa 1916-1918 with a great coat and Lee Enfield Rifle from Hilary Pauley, a wonderful retired head-mistress from a British Public School who collects teddy bears. I sent her photos of my collection, she had me have my son Alec take more and better ones, and she made an e-book out of my collection (follow the link below):

All of the Soldier and other historical dolls in my collection are depicted, as are a bunch of soldier dolls I have not yet obtained.

Really neat stuff, Louis. A remarkable slice of history that is being preserved by you and now enjoyed by the rest of us. Thanks. -- Al

Louis, me thinks you are going to need to open a whole new wing dedicated to 'uniforms' in your museum. You have a magnificent collection. -- Al

Dragoon turned me on to another Militaria Dealer and I bought these two items today, a child's Spahi uniform that matches my Harwin Spahi doll and a pre Franco Prussian War Tirailleur's gilette (vest):

Al,

Thank you, but I misdescribed the vest. It’s actually a Spahi vest, a Tirailleur vest is light blue with yellow trim. I will be displaying it with my WWI Era Spahi uniform.

My French Model 1872 Cuirasier rig arrived and is on display!
