It is obviously a truism to say what one will pay or considers something worth is in a person's own perspective. However, the attempted analogy to a current retail item of ground breaking detail which obviously cost quite a bit to develop and produce is frankly just plain inapt and suggests some malevolent intent. There are so many better ways to make your point that do not involve insult to a well respected manufacturer and its collectors that I really wonder why you found it necessary to phrase your comment this way.:( It was certainly not necessary to express your opinion.

Again, this is offensive, I have no idea why my opinion matters so much. I simply used it with no intent for my reply to Steve b/c I was just making the point that I have an opinion that he did not agree with??

What is the big deal here?? Honestly, I am a consumer and I don't care what K&C, Figarti, FL, Britains, etc spent to develop a product, that is their business. I simply as a collector and a consumer have an opinion (as do we all) when we decide what to purchase. I would like to remind the readers here, that I have opined on many products from many different manufacturers in the negative (recent example Andy's German Shepherd, some of Figarti's figures, some of Collectors Showcase, Some of Britains, etc). That in no way means I have any ill will toward any manufacturer, it is simply I buy what works for me.

My God, as other collector friends of mine know, I spread my collection between any and all manufacturers and am happy to have a few FL Naps among my collection including Murat which to this day, I still say, is one of the finest Napoleonic Marshalls ever produced. Just because I don't collect or like one of FL's line of figures, Shoot me!

Seriously, I try to be to the best of my ability to be respectful of all opinions regardless of whether I agree, I think others should do the same. I find it incredible that some on this board see a differing opinion of their own and the immediate reaction is to make it personal. No offense, but why in the heck would you care? I buy all sorts of things others think are terrible, I like them, that's all that matters.

...
With respect mate, it is rather odd for one to use an obviously offensive phrase like "price gouging" and then claim to be offended by a less than receptive response.;) It is not your opinion that matters but, as often the case, the words you chose to express it. I think you know you could have made your point many different ways without being crossing that pretty clear line.:)

OK everyone,
The term "Price Gouger" is now outlawed, and offenders will be dealt the 'nines for every infraction.

The poll is missing the 0$-49$ category, however I am not offended in the least.:)

I think you missed my point, it was an analogy, and again, if I think the price is too high, that would apply in my opinion. Again, this is ridiculous, an opinion is an opinion, you don't have to agree with it. Why on earth is someone else's personal opinion bother you so much? I don't take offense to Vezz's similar opinion on K&C???

Well tdubel, I was not directing my question to you but to Njja and did not even consider your opinion on this particular matter - and could ergo not agree or disagree with you. So a) I was surprised to see you responding to me and even more surprised to see this reference to FL in this - and I better measure my words here otherwise I get another warning from Brad/Jazzman.

So no I don't know Vezz' buying habits - I must read the boards less good than others - and was just curious why Njja said what he said. Very innocent, nothing else.

But am probably in the wrong side of the forum and should go back where I belong.

I think this is an interesting but difficult question, the answer will vary according to object in question and how much I want it.For instance I'd love the Jimmy truck and its priced around the £300 mark,I'd probably pay that for it.On the other hand my wife offered to buy me the Figarti LCT for my birthday next year, but I just can't let her spend that amount of dosh on one item..although I sure was tempted.I don't think I have a set limit at the end of the day,it normally comes down to a question of desire and financial reality.Fortunately for me there are only one or two items I really want.

Not at all, free board, free to roam. I was only trying to clarify John's post based on my own knowledge in my reply to you. I meant no ill towards it, just an analogy. I took no offense, neither should you. As for opinions, if we all had the same one, this forum would be pretty boring.

With respect, I got your point but you seem to have missed mine; I have no idea why? An analogy can be constructed without using derisive or pejorative words, can it not? It has nothing to do with opinions and everything to do with simple civility and respect for the opinions of others. When you call a product obviously well regarded by others an example of "price gouging" you not only demean the product but the judgement of those who buy it. That is not simply stating an opinion and completely unnecessary to expressing your viewpoint. You could have simply said the price was too high for your taste; opinion stated without offense.;) It is akin to someone saying they disagree with you by labeling your statements the ravings of a lunatic. That would not be any less or more offensive than the words you chose to express yours. Is that not clear?

I'm wondering (not requesting) if maybe the two of you should take this off line :)

I got your point. Not worth taking off line, again, word choice is just that a choice, if you choose to become offended, that is your choice. I don't get offended when Vezz calls Retired K&C price gouging nor should you get offended. As a matter of fact, again, I only used these particular words b/c they were already in print in Vezz's post. Why you are getting offended b/c I am not keen on a manufacturers line of figures, I don't know. Do you have a vested interest here? If anyone may have a right to be offended, I guess it would be the sculptor/artist, but then again, those folks usually have a thick skin b/c not everyone likes everything.

Seriously, if this is bothering you that much, there is an ignore button for the easily offended. Why you have taken someone else's opinion so personally when it doesn't affect you (since you are not FL), I will never understand. I don't think my opinion about a product was ever directed toward you?

Wow- That was entertaining :D

I have been away for awhile and glad to see opinions still being posted !

" People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? " " It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything." R King 1991 .We collect what we love and what we can afford to collect right ? I just wish money was not in the equation for me . Hey if I hit the Mega Millions tonight the Tanks are on me ;)

I think some time out is needed here.

It would be nice to cut some slack for each other.

Just take a step back to regain perspective.

Regards to All, Raymond.

I am new to this forum and don't know if I can mention specific websites where K & C figures are sold, but I've seen one website out there (actually my favorite place to buy) where the highest asking price for a retired K & C figure is $2,495. Rare figure, and rarified price. I'd have to sell one of my wife's bonds to get that one...(I wish). Are there many websites with such asking prices?

Chris,

I believe that's ok. Is this dealer in the midwest. I believe he has a high asking price on some of the Warbirds.

I'm new to this thread - LOL - looks like a battleground:D

I paid some silly money when I first started out - don't care. Some of the 'silly money' was $150 dollars for AN1 and AN2 when a set was around $85. I agonised over those bids on ebay. I did not even know until recently that this was less than retail.

Now I know some people go $1000 for the odd rare item (maybe <100 made like the first winter tiger, or even rarer, the few winter shermans or T34's) and this may might seem expensive, but it looks for now like it would be resold for that in future, as if the more members on this forum are indicative, the number of collectors is increasing. My only concern is whether too much stuff coming out new at good quality means people do not go for the back catalogue, so they may not hold value.

Who cares though. I enjoy looking at them if I have them.

As for the $2,500 for old wooden tigers and stuff like that, if I had the money I might go for them, I don't so it doesn't concern me at all.

Deal with it, envy just creates heart disease.

BTW anyone got .............................(long and lengthening list)
