JJD ACE-34 "DH-2, #14 Squadron, Palestine 1917" landed at my house this afternoon. This is an incredible well done and beautiful model. I couldn't be more pleased with it and this one has now become my favorite WWI Knights of the Sky plane. I passed on the first DH-2 John released . . . really glad I decided to collect this one. I plan on displaying this with my Model-T's and Rolls Royce armoured cars from my Wheels Across the Desert collection.

Got these fine figures today.
All 3 versions of the Polish Winged Hussars Standard Bearer by First Legion.
From left to right:

Since they are about sold out everywhere here in the U.S., I put a “Wanted” post in the Classifieds here on the forum. For the first time I didn’t just ask for a pm if anybody had a track, but also added my Email address. I’m glad I did :smile2:
A forum reader from Germany pointed me to an excellent store/webstore in Germany, that had all three versions still in stock. I was looking for the B version initially, but when I saw them all on the website I couldn’t resist and ordered all three :redface2:

Today they came in, and all three in pristine condition. Was a bit worried because of the long journey they had to to do, but all is good.

Very nice figures/miniatures.
Now in the next few months I will be getting the other 6 figures in this line.

Hi Guys,

I managed to pick up two sets of figures, first is a set of Marlborough figures for my Durbar collection set D32 British Infantry marching. I have a partial of this set already so now I will have a nice contingent for my display! the other set I found for a steal was a set of East German (DDR) hard rubber figures they used to give to the schools for the little boys to play with. Pictures will follow when I get them but I am really pleased to add some more of them to my set I got in Berlin. the photo is of the ones I have already.

I broke down and purchased my first JJD Aztec, they're just so dang puuurdy. Also added a casualty to my Clash of Empires collection.

I ordered this piece off Treefrog's consignment section a couple of weeks ago, and it arrived in the post today. It was made by JJD in 2008 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city of Quebec. Champlain is displayed on my shelf beside the club figure of a Carignan-Salières Regiment soldier that JJD produced last year.

A few of Britains old smaller scale "B range" (41-43mm), Hussars - painted by me as the 11th (Cherry Pickers). These are recasts, made by Treefrogger - Sandhurst 39 , who agreed to part with some for me to paint. He made up moulds for them, from the remains of three battered old ones, and a lot of ingenuity.

When you consider that the originals have not been made since 1916, they are little miracles, and part of Toy Soldier History.

Arriving on my USS Bunker Hill's deck this morning was BH-19N Aircraft Carrier Flight Deck Crew 6-figure set . . . . PLUS the model prototype of John's soon to be released Corsair which I was the very fortunate winner and recipient as an outcome of John's 2017 Chicago show treasure hunt. The Corsair prototype is absolutely beautiful . . . the final release product should be just stunning . . . . now back to my play (or should I say Plane) time . . . .

Red Tinplate Monster to Halberstadt DII (via DIII) A

At the turn of the year I acquired two of these lovely? red tinplate monsters with the intention of modifying / converting them into models to fit in with my collection of HECO tinplate planes in the markings of WWI Saxon Aces.

The motivation was three fold 1. They were cheap. 2. From conversations I had with Tony Williams I was sure that HECO had never made a Halberstadt and 3. I wanted a new project for the new year. Having conveyed my intensions to Louis B. I was sure he thought I was at least one loaf short of a picnic, and when the first arrived I knew he was probably right. However, I was committed and so proceeded to change the first of the monsters into a Halberstadt DIII as close as possible to the size and style of HECO. After much sweat a little blood and almost tears this was the unpainted result.

Before painting I discovered the only Saxon Ace I knew for certain had flown a Halberstadt was Hartmuth Baldamus who appears to have used a Halberstadt DII (AV) made by Aviatic during Oct / Nov 1916, which meant a slight modification to the exhaust system. This is now the finished result together with my Toy Soldier figure of Baldamus.





The other Red Monster is currently in bits awaiting a more ambitious transformation or the trash can
