What Toy Soldier items Have You Acquired in The Last 2 Weeks ? (3 Viewers)

Last Friday I received a package from Treefrog with some nice additions to my collection.
There were JJD’s Aztec Warriors 15A and 15B and also one more FL Polish Winged Hussar, TYW007.
I love that stuff ^&grin

I bought this little Cowgirl (by Johillco circa 1950's) amongst a job lot of broken Toy Soldiers on e-bay - for spares or repair. I have been looking for an example to restore for a few years - so was delighted when she eventually turned up.

Here's how she looked when found ( lower left figure, with only one intact leg on the horse - which was literally hanging on by a small sliver of metal.0

After a few repairs and a repaint ( I added a holster - as JoHillco forgot!), - she now looks like this - and I couldn't be more pleased to add her to my collection.

Yesterday a figure that I've been after for many a year arrived from the USA...…

He's the Dead Coldstream Guard NA135 from King & Country.

NA135.jpg

He has now joined his regiment on my battlefield where he paid the supreme sacrifice in repelling Napoleon's Cavalry as part of The Thin Red Line

After a break in June, I received my latest order today :smile2:
The latest two Aztec Warriors from JJD and the Polish Winged Hussar, TYW008, from FL.
Now only 2 more of the Winged Hussars left to have the entire release :wink2::smile2:

Thanks to the kindness of good friend Martyn, the Trophy Expert, I added this wonderful Trophy WWI Set I didn't even know existed: EQ64 "Cooks and Supplies", an add on set to the "Field Kitchen on the March" set:

Bring them back

New Agincourt:

They are both listed as de Raineval. Not sure if they are supposed to be the same person, father/son or some other combination.

Added this excellent Trophy WWI set, the last Western Front large diorama set I didn't have (I still need the motor ambulance and the third (Gray) Troop Transport Bus):

Bring them back

I wish - old buddy.

Unfortunately, John Hill & Co. (JoHillCo), who originally made her - went out of business in the 1960's and production ceased.

So.........the only way to "bring 'em back", is to find an old example and repair/repaint it. I'm useless at handling hot things - so I don't try and do re-casts - but I guess that anyone who is handy with hot metal and a drop mould might?

In the year 2002, New Britains released quite a striking figure of a Mounted Scots Grey, in a winter cloak (Number 40200), which only lasted until 2004. A short run means few figures produced. Here's the figure below:

40200.jpg

It is easy to see that Britains re-worked an old Hollowcast casting of a Household Cavalry Trooper in a Winter Cloak, by adding the head of a Scots Grey.

Now, I liked it - but couldn't find one.

So..............thinking cap on, and I thought that if Britains could do that with an old H.Cav. figure - why can't I???

Sooner or later, a suitable figure will turn up to adapt - won't it?

Well....................it did! and this is what I did to a Life-Guard Trooper who arrived from e-bay - minus two lower front legs from the horse - and head and arm from the Trooper.

After removing the paint and adding spare parts from Dorset Model Soldiers - he looked like this.

PIC_4887.JPG

And after repainting - he looked like this:

Ha! got one at last. jb

First Legion’s TYW009 arrived today :smile2:
One more wonderful Polish Winged Hussar.
Now I hope that it will be only a very short while and the last one of the line, the TYW010, will be joining his fellows here in my cabinets.
Feels good when there’s only one more missing to complete the collection :wink2:
