Every month or so, I discover I have a new favorite....well for now, this is it!
This is Turkish Drummer on Camel from Russian Vityaz #PB721
Everything about this figure is amazing to me. The patterns on the linen, the facial expression and the treatment of the chest and facial hair!

The Rider's pretty good too - jb:D

I blame Pat Wade for this purchase! {sm4} He's shared so many photos of his Delhi Durbar figures with me, that I just fell in love with them and had to have some of my own. This one is The Maharaja of Rewa's Baby Elephant, Delhi Durbar 1903 Beau Geste BG114
The momma elephant is being made and will arrive soon to keep the little one company!

Hi Zach,

Yeah, yeah, yeah! Blame me for everything. First, you blame me for an order you placed for Marlborough figures. And, now you blame me for the wonderful Beau Geste figures you are purchasing. The next thing I know you will be blaming me for the order you will be placing for Samurai figures. ^&grin

If nothing else, at least you are demonstrating you have outstanding taste in toy soldiers! :rolleyes2:

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :wink2:

haha! just got an email from Marlborough...I should have them all soon! ^&grin

Back from Chicago and time to post some pictures of the purchases!

This one I had been looking for for quite some time and finally found it. This set and the Henry VIII made the trip completely worthwhile to me even if nothing else about it was good (and there was plenty that was great about this trip)

This is The Great Hall Diorama of the Scandinavian King from Grudsky Studio / St. Petersburg Collection #s 3239-3242
The herald that is pictured is not really part of the set. He is Young Herald Holding Proclamation from Sineus / St. Petersburg Collection #3507
I got him at the show too and thought it looked good together.

Here is the Henry VIII figure I mentioned. I have been looking for one of these for years. Every time I saw Nikki and Thor of Aeroart, I asked if they knew someone selling one and they said people tend to hold onto this one. I was ecstatic when i saw it for sale in Chicago. While i had it in my hands, before actually getting to pay, I had three people ask me if I was going to buy it bc if not, they wanted it.

This is #EW3 and is one of the Elite Warrior Series. They are limited to 100 figures. He was made by the Arsenyev Studio for AeroArt in 2001.

Also from the Elite Warrior Series, I was able to pick up both
King Louis IX Arsenyev/St.Petersburg Collection EW7 and
Chevalier de*Bayard*w/Sword & Flag Arsenyev/St.Petersburg Collection EW9

I passed on Bayard a few times in the past, but Sunday in Chicago, the price was right for him to come home to Massachusetts with me!

This was my first purchase from Medallion Miniatures. I was introduced to the company by Brad (Jazzeum) and Pat (wadepat) a while back, but never made a purchase. Most of their pieces are single mounted figures and they are very nice. When I went into their room on Friday, this piece just jumped out at me. Due both to the subject matter and the fact that it was a multi-figure vignette. This is a scene from the battle of Vienna (1683)
This piece is really one to be seen in person. No matter how many photos I took, I just couldn't capture it, but here are my attempts:

This next one is probably top three for me as far as best painting in my collection. This is a bust of a Landsknecht soldier (250mm) from Castle Miniatures that was painted by Olga Zernina in Russia. I know people say that these figures aren't meant to be photographed closeup, but this one was asking to be. In person, the gaze and eyes are just stunning. I am not a bust guy (said no man ever), but I just had to have this one!

that face is amazing...and yes...it's begging for a close-up!

Great looking collection Zach! I also love the Durbar and Winged Hussars. Will have to look at that vignette closely.

Dave

Great pictures Zach and that Henry was a lucky find! I thought you looked content over the weekend, I now know why {sm4}

Great to meet you on Chicago.

Malcolm. :salute::

Those are great acquisitions for your collection, Zach! The bust is especially beautiful, great catch!

Prost!
Brad

Zachary great seeing you again. What a wonderful collection! Will I see you in Hackensack?
