That said - recently my wife and I have been shopping to replace a sedan and it is not going great. IMO or at least ours, we are not finding a great deal of cars to our liking, there are a zillion SUV's out there and that is where we may end up due to the utter lack of sedans we like.

I'm finished with "cars"...last 4 vehicles I bought are SUV's...
I feel safer and I like looking over cars in front of me to see what's ahead...
that's about all you see in Texas...lol...SUV's and trucks...

Yup, me too, I'm now on my 4th Jeep Grand Cherokee, nothing beats it IMO, balls out the backside, smooth ride, handles well, nice sound system, all the bells and whistles, I like being "higher up" while driving, whenever I ride in my GF or Sisters car, I feel like I'm on a skateboard, no thanks, no more "cars" for me ever again, I also need an SUV for when collections come my way, much easier to transport in an SUV.

Agree with you both, this is the wife's ride this time. I tried telling her a F150 or larger would be ideal, she didn't buy it................I think she is going to be in some sort of small SUV, like I said, the car models are just not doing it.

I raised the birth vs kidney stones pain issue with my renal specialist, he said he treated a women with a kidney stone giving birth, she said 'ef the baby', get the stone out first, true story :cool:

We only get SUVs and trucks now. But if I were to get a sedan it would probably be a Lexus or Mercedes. They still have some very nice cars.

So, I can comment here and I am not making an opinion, more of a comment. My father in law bought a Camry (business car, he puts a lot of miles) and they replaced the other sedan with a Lexus. Honestly, other than creature comforts inside, when you see them from outside, I am not sure any real difference other than $20K. We currently own 2 Avalons and 1 Grand Cherokee. Seriously leaning toward another Jeep SUV. Mercedes is not an option in our household, quite frankly dislike that one and BMW's. I find them just not worth it and the maintenance is absolutely costly, to me, you have to love the car in order to maintain it at that cost.

Alfa Romeo makes a fantastic SUV. They were out of the US market for many year but are not back.

Letting Fauci off the hook is a bit perplexing since his entire job and career were to prepare for a pandemic. He somehow made millions in this capacity. And when the pandemic eventually came, he was completely incompetent. If anything, his recommendations made a bad situation much worse by pointlessly closing down the entire country. It will take generations to recover from that incompetence. The only question left is whether his incompetence was intentional for political purposes and to cover his own involvement with the Chinese lab. Or was he just used by corrupt politicians to maximize the impact of the pandemic to undermine Trump? Either way, he failed miserably. Nothing RFK could ever do can ever top that. The media no longer reports at all on COVID. It's as though someone waved a magic wand and it has disappeared. I assume some people are still getting sick and even dying from it, but you would never know that from the media. In contrast, if a very few people get measles, it is a front-page story. That is the product of a corrupt media driving a desired narrative and ignoring anything contrary to the desired narrative.

Fauci has received a "get out jail free" blanket pardon courtesy of President OTTO Penn, which conveniently, extends all the way back to Jan 1 2014 ... so it covers the period in which the gain of function research occurred that led to the development of the covid virus. I'll take RFK Jr anytime over that corrupt, inept, lying little weasel.

I agree with you Tom, but some people prefer to pay extra for the perceived premium brands, Toyota would be fine by be, the Toyota Avalon is considered to be one of the most reliable cars in Australia, sadly no longer available here.

As for Jeep, sorry guys, I know several forum members luv their Jeep, and it's like being critical of a guy's Football team, but Jeep are not considered a reliable brand in Australia, Jeep sales have been steadily declining in Australia. And I luv the look of most Alpha Romeo SUVs but no way would I buy one.

Here's an Australian based Youtube channel that covers used cars, it may be of interest to those members into cars, includes comments by a qualified mechanic, of course there may be differences between Australian and US Jeep engines, transmissions etc.

Jeeps are definitely over produced and your mileage may certainly vary. I like luxury brands, just not the 2 German ones. Honestly, Mercedes have never done anything for me personally and BMW, I owned one, night mare, and every one a buddy has owned, same thing. That said, I have one friend who lives/dies by Beamers. So go figure. I always think car buying has a little bit of luck in it too.

As to Avalons - great car, but discontinued, we have 2 still that run like a top, but they are getting on in age now.

Also owned a number of Cadillacs and I still think the CTS look great, just the maintenance is so wildly varied.
