Things that annoy me (2 Viewers)

Beyond annoying ..... Selena Gomez's "I'm sorry" Instagram video of her sobbing crocodile tear over the nearly one thousand murders, rapists, child molesters and drug dealing "migrants" who were tossed out the U.S. yesterday. I must have missed the video of her crying uncontrollably over the murder of Laken Riley .....

She received a ton of backlash over it and pulled the post, the billionaire that she is. I wouldn't know her if I fell over her, but somehow, she's a billionaire.

These people live in a bubble and have no clue. They are not impacted by crime etc. So they can pontificate for causes because that have no effect of their lives.

Student test scores in math and English have hit an all-time low in the US. The media is blaming it on COVID (which they ironically promoted by fostering the hysteria that forced schools to close) but this dumbing down trend has been ongoing for many years. If you have kids in school, you see the tangible result. The phones and video games are an underappreciated problem. The phones need to be banned from all schools. There needs to be a complete reassassment of the education system looking toward the many Asian and European schools that have better results.

What a month January 2025 ended up being. A terrorist attack, two major plane crashes, LA burns down, and President Carter died. Only 11 months to go in this year!

Recent widespread news story that $50 million allocated to buy condoms for Gaza was stopped. It turns out that not a single penny was allocated for that purpose. The story was a fraud.

Condoms are no good when they're breeding for the next gen of racist Murderers all expecting their 72 !

She'll probably be nominated for an Oscar for best supporting female in a comedy :ROFLMAO::LOL:

It turns out that in the days just before the recent air collision that not only every air traffic controller was sent a message encouraging them to resign but also every member of the NTSB that investigates air crashes. Wow. Imagine if even a small percentage take this offer? The reckless stupidity of that is astounding. Isn't there anyone in charge who gives these decisions some consideration? Instead they are like Godzilla stomping on Tokyo. If you want to encourage government downsizing, maybe exclude those highly trained people who are directly responsible for public safety decisions that have life and death consequences.

I totally agree with you, hopefully the recent air accidents will bring some common sense to the issue and increase funding to critical resources.

Then I heard that it was actually true, so who knows which story is true.

Every news story that I've seen has now debunked this claim. It derives from confusion over funding that was sent.

The tariffs are not working out too great. I thought the point was to use them to equalize trade practices instead of coercing Canada and Mexico to secure the border. It created a lot of chaos and disruption for little apparent gain.

Don't get me started on Tariffs; all they do is punish the importer, not the country they are aimed at.

He delayed both to Canada and Mexico, but the one to China is still in place.

For a retailer like me who imports goods from China, this is not good.

Not good at all.

I thought the original goal was something like if Canada or Mexico imposes a tariff on some US item, then the US would do the same. Fair trade which makes sense. I heard Trump give that speech a thousand times using the word "reciprocate." Instead, it became tariffs on everything unless they secure the borders. Which made little sense in the case of Canada since there are few illegal border crossings etc. They were wildly spinning the delay as some type of victory instead of capitulation in the face of price increases and stock market disruption.

George:

I have to be honest, during the campaign I was all for the tariffs.

I never for one second considered their impact on our hobby, especially with regard to the dealers.

Please keep us posted on the impact of the tariffs from a dealer’s perspective.

Best,
Jason

The US is going to take over Gaza and turn it into the Middle East Riviera? What could go wrong? I'm all for some type of peacekeeping force from NATO or Turkey but it's a terrible idea for US troops to be on the ground. That has never worked out. Twenty years later we will be leaving having spent trillions with many dead and nothing to show for it.

Yeah, we've got such a successful track record on nation building. How much money have we poured into Haiti? And see how that's turned out.

Getting involved with troops on the ground there is going to be trouble for sure when you've got an alien mindset stuck in the dark ages, with an everlasting hatred on the rightful inhabitants, the US and civilisation in general.
How you change the situation there, perhaps is worth a new approach, since things aren't likely to alter unless those in control of Arab countries are forced to try something other than the continuing circle of terrorism as using fear as a way to bully people into submission is how they've been acting for centuries.

Unfortunately, and historically very true. It is hard to help those who do not want the help. I don't see this going anywhere fast. Makes for a good soundbite, but that's about it. Regarding tariffs, I actually think he did exactly what he intended to do in Canada and Mexico case. We will more likely than not hear about them again for those 2 countries as I will predict new accords there over the next 30 days.

China - different story, do I think this is geared toward getting them to the table, yes. It may cause some short-term pain, but something has to give even a little with China. We are too dependent on their manufacturing well beyond toy soldiers. We created this mess ourselves by pricing ourselves out of manufacturing our own goods. I could go on for pages on why this happened, it is not just increased labor rates, it is what's behind that. All of this said, IMO tempest in a teapot. Market makers like a little chaos once in a while as major money makes moves on the sell offs. That is why our stock market is a rigged game. Again, could talk about that for pages. Long story short, I would expect to see movement on the China front also and a shift. One thing about Trump, he is not going to be idle, some moves will be good, some will be bad, but I am not one to judge on a short game basis, I take a long-term point of view on all of these actions.
