The player who scored the winning TD for MSU apparently fractured his hip when he was tackled and a fan in the stands had a heart attack. Doesn't get much crazier than that ending.

The report I heard said that the player who scored was injured by his own teammates piling on him in celebration. What a treat.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Florida State is quietly staying undefeated, bad play at times, boring, but exciting in the end. They still have some superstars on that team, Clemson will be a big game, going to be tough to do it again, Clemson seems ready to beat them.

Good news is regardless, they should continue to improve and will be tough at the end of the year. Makes for good recruiting even if they don't make the playoff. Jimbo has something good going on there and it is nice not to be in the press this year. Cook is an amazing athlete working with a pulled hamstring, I would hate to see that guy at 100%.

Other comments - Harbaugh coached a perfect game, say what you want, he is a good coach, his kicker will be a goat until.................they beat Ohio State!

Notre Dame lucky as ever, but USC can't help themselves on or off the field, that is a broken University at this point and might as well hang it up for a bit. Trainwreck is synonymous with the USC Football program.

LOL. I'll take Reggie Bush and the bogus sanctions over convict state with Jimbo "I see nothing" Pyle coaching and the cops covering up for all manner of serious crimes. There is no college football program more corrupt than FSU. The people there should be ashamed to be associated with that program. Just read the NY Times article on how football players there shoot people on the streets with pellet guns, assault women, get in fights etc. and they rarely if ever get punished. A disgrace.

ESPN did an interesting analysis of Jim Hardblows coaching mistakes on that last punt. MSU had all their guys rushing the punt with no returner but Michigan still had flankers out for some unknown reason reducing the number of blockers. That allowed MSU players to run unblocked toward the punter and likely distracted him as he anticipated the punt getting blocked. A colossal coaching mistake on special teams.

A coaching mistake to be sure, but the punter should have had the sense to fall on the ball. Harbaugh should never have tried the punt. A Qb rollout would have eaten up the 10 seconds while State players chased him down, or a simple Qb sneak, leaving State with enough time for one Hail Mary. All 20/20 hindsight on an incredible series of errors. Joe Pisarcik must be proud. :rolleyes2: -- Al

Doug,
Since you can't seem to keep anything Civil, apparently against your nature when it comes to USC or the JFK assassination, you obviously have never bothered to look at any major college program..........GUESS WHAT, they are all corrupt. USC's transgressions go far beyond Reggie Bush, so I would suggest that you take your rose colored glasses off and join the real world.

It is what it is, I was part of the Maryland football program and I could write a book on arrests, drug use, classroom cheating, paying players, gambling, new cars, you name in they did it and ARE STILL doing it. On every college campus that has "big time" football or basketball programs (IE Division 1 Conferences with TV and Shoe/Apparel contracts), they all cheat and they all sweep it under the rug and they all eventually get caught at some time or another.

It is unfortunate, but please come down off the "Holy Rock" and quit taking potshots at FSU. Glass houses break all the same. They are all corrupt and if you think it is only FSU or they are far worse than anyone else, then please I will be happy to sell you a Bridge on the cheap that connects Russia to Alaska.

Your personal gripe against FSU for whatever reason is well known, no need to remind us on every post where a comment is made about USC. All I know is USC has been in the news with stories, coaching issues and the inability to win all year long.

True post, end of day, punter falls on ball, Harbaugh's well coached team wins the game. However, punter did not fall on the ball, the result is what it is, miracle ending for an outplayed, out coached MSU team. Hats off to them as they played through to the last play.

Falling on the ball leaves a long FG possibility. No coach is going to risk that when a simple punt ends the game. Hardblow's snafu was not lining up his players to block when MSU rushed all eleven by putting two useless flankers out who neither could block nor had anyone downfield to tackle. A major coaching mistake. The punter could have saved him with a clean catch but the rush was on him quickly because there weren't enough blockers.

Falling on the ball was a very real option. The ball was snapped from the State 47. Fall on it at the 48 and that leaves a FG attempt from the 41, an attempt of some 69 yards. No one tries a FG from that range. The Hail Mary would have been the only option. It was just a bad call all around. -- Al

Granted Michigan lost the game but at the start of the season no one thought they would have even been in any position to lose this game with 10 seconds left. Bottom line is that Michigan is way ahead of schedule in its rebuild and I begrudgingly tip my cap to Harbaugh.

Egad. My UMd Terps have made offensive coordinator Mike Locksley head coach for the rest of the season. All I really know about him is that in his previous HC position at New Mexico he was 2-26 over 2+ seasons. That certainly doesn't bode well for a struggling program. He's got 6 games left to audition for next year. -- Al

Al,
let's hope the University really looks outside b/c this guy's track record is not too good.

Hardblow is a great coach. No doubt about it. Anyone who can turn Stanford into a powerhouse has to know his trade. It is as a person that he is sorely lacking. He did flub the dub on that punt though. Good to see him associated with that loss for the ages. UM can run the table for the next twenty years and that will be his legacy.

At Stanford Shaw has proven that you can be successful and maintain humility, something Harbaugh was never able to do.

Not many great matchups this weekend. But to the picks:

Bama 38 Tennessee 17 - potential trap game with TN playing better but Bama is on a roll. At home they should take care of business.

Texas Tech 44 Oklahoma 31 - TT has a high powered offense. If OK can't slow them down they are going to get steamrolled.

Ole Miss 27 Texas AM 24 - two teams coming off disappointing games.

USC 38 Utah 24 - the NCAA compliant and squeaky clean mighty Trojan program shocks the world by crushing the #3 team. I think SC is even somehow the favorite in this game.

I dunno, he beats Ohio State and that would go a long way at putting this as a distant bad memory.

A lot of pundits are betting on USC or is it a sucker's bet? Who knows, I give up on trying to figure out how good or bad Utah is. I think they are ripe for an upset and USC coming off the coaching debacle is probably pretty hungry for a win. That said, nothing would surprise me on the outcome of this one. I actually think it is to USC's disadvantage to be the favorite for however much that is worth in the minds of young 20ish aged players.

SC has one of the worst coached defenses in the country. My concern is that Utah just scores at will in the second half. Having lost three out of four though they are due to show up. A better team than they have shown thus far. Hope springs eternal. If they lose, we can just fire another coach. Maybe Will Ferrell can coach next week.

Time for Padre Pete's Pathetic Picks - Take these to Vegas (flip the scores) and you're guaranteed to win!

Nebraska 28 Northwestern 10 - The 'Cat slide continues. How did they beat Stanford and Duke??? The offense has remained pathetic and the defense has regressed. Unless something happens soon this season may be headed into the crapper.

Stanford 42 Washington 21 - A team Northwestern beat will continue to flex its offensive muscle and move up in the rankings.

Duke 28 VA Tech 21 - A team Northwestern beat will continue to flex its muscles and move up in the rankings. The Dukies are underdogs, which should fire them up.

Texas A&M 21 Ole Miss 17 - What's the point of this game...neither has been influenced by Northwestern.

Utah 45 USC 10 - The Utes have a big chip on their shoulders. Everyone is showing USC love based on....what? USC is in shambles. This will be a beat-down.
