So 4-0 Oklahoma loses to a 1-4 Texas team; great, just great.

Every year, the Sooners seem to lay an egg to some weaksauce team, it's infuriating.

Much to my shock, UMd actually played pretty well against OSU today, eventually losing 49-28. OSU was a huge 33 point favorite and UMD actually had a 21-21 tie early in the 3rd and trailed by 28-21 late in the 3rd before OSU ran away. Be interesting to see if the good showing by UMd saves Edsall's job for a while. -- Al

My big game is NAVY Midshipmen [4-0] ... at ... (15) Notre Dame Fighting Irish [4-1]

Not a fan of Texas but I like Charlie Strong. A huge win for him. The Vols came through for me in a great game. Down 24-3 against Georgia and they come back for the win.

Oh, was there a football game in Ann Arbor today?? I think Northwestern must have missed it.

Same thing happened in College Park when Michigan came in to play last week. UMd forgot to show up.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I really have to take some hits about Michigan. After the first game of the season I was sure they were going to be terrible and I said as much. However, their only loss is to the team ranked 5th in the country and even then they only lost by 7 points. In their 5 other games they have only given up a total of 14 points. Michigan is legit.

Great minds think alike as I though the exact same thing at the time, they look legit to me now as well.

That last game of the season at home vs THE Ohio State University is going to be epic; going to try to pull some strings/call in a favor or two/ to see if I can score a couple of ducks for that one.

Say what you want about Harbaugh but the man can coach; he's in THE perfect spot for him, I just hope he stays there long term and after some success, doesn't get stupid and run back to the NFL.

The way things are going, college football is going to be more popular than the NFL in a few years.......................

College football commands a fan fanaticism that can put the NFL to shame. Everybody has a local college to root for, not so the NFL team, which might not be in close proximity to a given locale. As for OSU v Mich, it was always one of the 'must see' games of the year, especially when Bo and Woody were coaching, and it would be great to see that rivalry regain those heights. -- Al

Wash St. lost the first game of the season at home to a division II Portland St team and then beat Oregon on the road yesterday. Lots of parity in college football this year.

Dear God I hope not. Edsel (notice the purposeful misspelling like the ill fated car) has got to go! He is the sole reason I can't root for my own alma mater. He is a pompous first class ******* and it seems as if he has finally worn out his welcome.

My 2 cents.

Tom, one thing for sure, you are not alone in the way you feel about Edsall. The big money Alum want him gone, and according to reports, he has diminishing support from the players. Many, and I'm one, never thought he should have been hired to start with. There were better choices and I still don't know how he talked his way into the job. UMd's AD is clueless. -- Al

And so he IS gone! :smile2: Poor 5 yr performance. I saw him abruptly get up and leave the post game interview, so he must have know something was up. He was 0-12 against ranked opponents. He wasn't that good at UConn, so I don't know why they thought he would be a good fit at MD. Chris

Maybe if UMd asks real nice, and offers oodles of money, they can talk Bobby Ross into a second term as Head Coach.:wink2:^&cool -- Al

At least you are not USC. We just canned our coach for being drunk all season. Unbelievable that a guy makes that kind of money to coach kids and can't stay sober. He should have stepped down and sought treatment. Now he is toast.

Nice job on short notice, keeping the humor going too is important.

Come on Doug, I look forward to your picks every week; if you are out, it will be a new segment here on TFT, "Pete's picks"...........has a nice ring to it, or, "Padre Pete's picks" is ever better, or triple P for short...........

Good thing Doug came back in...what a pathetic display Padre Pete's Picks turned out to be. I'm not sure anyone wants to be subjected to those every week!

Don't feel bad. Picking these games is almost impossible with so much parity and how college teams play night and day from one week to the next. Look at Oklahoma/Texas. No way TX wins that game on paper. If I break even I declare victory. Next week we have Florida losing their QB and USC losing its nutty coach the week before the ND game.

I don't have a problem with you making picks every week, don't give up yet...............

Reports sneaking out that Steve Spurrier is retiring, effective immediately. -- Al

If you got them right too often, you might be tempted to quit your day job and head to Vegas. I can see it now: Padre Pete Knows How to Pick 'Em! Film at 11 {eek3}
