Britain's Zulu War (1 Viewer)

Yes, I agree, Modelzone certinly have fast shipping. I ordered the "Cold Steel" exclusive and also received it in 3 days, in Australia! Great piece.

Sitting here this morning enjoying a cup of coffee and once again leafing through the WB 2009 Collection Catalog. I have always admired the diorama scenes Ken Osen makes so my attention was turned to the Display Collection on page 42. I really like DISP09 Zulu War Rorke's Drift Hospital base #1 but it is really too $pricey$ for me. My plans are to build my own diorama base for the defense of the hospital and the northwest corner of the mealie bag barricade . . at least that was what my initial plans were. When I got my Hospital front last week I thought to myself, "gee this looks like it was made so that a back half could be added to it at a future date". This morning as I was reading the "small print" describing DISP09 it reads "Other bases will follow to complete the compound". I believe I might be correct in my assumption and the back half of the Hospital is planned for the future and . . . might it be . . . also the supply building and kraal. Now I am really daydreaming about diorama possibilities . . .

Mike,

Ken I thought said something about the store house would be made. I should have asked him at the Gettysburg Show plus a few other things.

Nice pictures and a very nice library of reference materials and stories. This set is on my "immediate" list to get items. Great "perspective" pics.

Titus and Mike I'm sure the Commissary Storehouse is not only planned for but in the works and made make it's appearance later this year or in the first quater of next. Got another hunch will see a few other goodies also making an appearance which will fit right into the Mission Station compound. Damian there was no doubt the set appearing on your book shelf would'nt make it to your Land of The Zulus and I'm sure you'll agree it's a winner........The Lt.

I don't know which I am more proud of the soldiers or the library. I was lucky two years ago when my Africana book dealer phoned me up to sya he had just stumbled upon a great find.
It was an estate that he had just been offered and all those books were in it.
The original Colenso's and Hallam Parr's as well as Bertrand Mitford's Through The Zulu Country

A great way to add a little life to the stories.:) Have you read the books yet?

Let us not forget the reinforcements for the gallant members of the 1st and 2nd Battalions (2nd Warwickshire Regiment) of Foot as we go off to the Sudan....The Lt.

Damian,
Let's just say you're proudly displaying these figures in front of a wonderful collection of books. Others may certainly disagree, but I feel that books are so much more than objects, and you have some rarities!
Mike

Damian,

Nice collection of books, how do the originals compare to the reprints?

Do you notice any ommisiioms or additions between the orignals and reprints?

Brian

A great addition to the Land of the Zulus Mike. Your dio is going to be in full swing shortly :D

Damian a cracking way to display the Isandlwana set. They are very nice figures.

As Joe said, there will be a storehouse we are just not sure when exactly. I think there was discussion with Ken about the hospital. I think he said it is possible that the back half could be made, but there were no plans to do it. That would be one big building if the back half was made. I wonder how popular it would be?

I think the WB stone walls could be used for the kraal. The LT has used them and they look great. I am holding out for some biscuit boxes

No doubt will see a storehouse. On the other hand I have my doubts that the back half of the hospital will be made. I used the stone walls to make my kraal like the LT. Like you Scott, Im hopeing for biscuit boxes also.:)
