Britain's Zulu War (2 Viewers)

Martyn,
Nice setup and some quality playtime as a result. Also nice to see the new releases being put to use-some hardy officer types in the form of Gonny and Chard. They look great defending your storehouse.

Fantastic pics of your new additions Martyn. It is due to great pictures like these that makes me very happy that I have jumped into the Zulu War fray. Again great shots.

Martyn, these look even better than the promo pics! It is very tempting to say the least but I am going to resist and wait for the Sudan! ;)

Damian,

Nice collection of books, how do the originals compare to the reprints?

Do you notice any ommisiioms or additions between the orignals and reprints?

Brian

The reprints of antiquarian books are usually facsimiles. They are designed to replicate the original with all the foibles of the time (19 th Century spelling of geograhical locations, racial terms etc). Some reprints acquire a degree of value in themselves. However most antiquarian book collectors would use them as reading copies. There is a peculiar feeling about owning the original edition of an important work. The Colenso books were written soon after the war to defend the Zulu people and to plead their cause. I would say that Fanny Colenso was a sort of Hanoi Jane for the British.

It is great to see all four sets used together. I really enjoyed sculpting these figures, and used together I hoped that they might convey the sense of intensity in the fighting at the barricade. I can't wait to get my samples to add to my collection!
All the Best,
Ken

Ken you did a great job on the hand to hand sets. I only the first release but have the other 2 ordered, should receive in the next week or so. Planning to get the Cold Steel set. I actually think as time goes on the AZW figures are getting even better !!!

I'm very much looking forward to getting my first Zulu War range figure Saturday, and from there I may have a growing Zulu collection!

Scott,
I'm glad you noticed also... I can't put it in words, maybe painting-something is getting better on each release-might be the facial features. Kudos of course to our main man Ken!

Excellent Martyn. They WB site shows that Chard, the 2 ltd sets and a ZUlu warrior with knobkerrie are May releases, did you get the Zulu as well? or is he not out yet?

Chard looks very good and I like that Zulu perch right on top of the mealie bags..........reminds me of Zulu when someone yells pot that chap someone :D :D :D

Thanks for setting them up, photographing them and sharing, can't wait to get mine now !!!!!!!
